The Gitzo GT1545T Traveler Carbon Fiber Tripod & Monopod Kitis a compact support system with legs that fold around the center column and optional head. These reverse-folding legs contribute to the tripod's folded length of just 16.7". It extends to 60.2" high and can hold up to 22 lb worth of gear. With the included short center column installed, the tripod can get down to 8.6" for macro or low-angle shooting.

The tripod employs Carbon eXact tubing for added strength and stiffness compared to the Carbon 6X tubes. Traveler G-lock is a pared-down version of Gitzo's G-lock, specifically designed for the Traveler tripods to reduce overall size. These legs feature space-saving feet that fit the Traveler series' compact design. A shoulder strap is included for easy carrying.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the camera plate included with the head or do you have to buy it separately?

A: Yes, and it's a really nice plate, with a handle to twist it tight.

Q: 2. whats the difference between the series 1 and 2 and 3 tripods?

A: The main differences would be feature based. The Gitzo Series 1 would be the most compact, with the Series 2 being slightly larger. Both the Series 1 and Series 2 offer center column while the much larger Series 3 would offer no center column and a heavier load capacity.

Q: 3. Between the head and the tripod, is there a set screw, to prevent rotation of the head? Most other tripods have such a feature.

A: Yes, the Gitzo GT1545T Series 1 Traveler Carbon Fiber Tripod with Center Ball Head does have a set screw.

Q: 4. Can the ballhead be removed from the tripod for use elsewhere too?

A: Yes, the ball head is removable.

Q: 5. Does this Ball head have a tension Knob?

A: There is no tension knob but you can adjust the main knob to act like a tension knob.

Q: 6. Would this tripod be sturdy enough to hold Nikon d850 with a 200-500mm lens?

A: Yes.

Q: 7. Can anyone what temperature ranges this tripod can be sued in? The printed warranty states that is covered only to 70 degrees fahrenheit. Surely that can't be correct. My living room is warmer than that.

A: I've had it exposed to temperatures ranging from 2 degrees to 45 degrees Celsius. That's about 35 to 118 Fahrenheit. Though I know it's been stored in places where it gets up to 48-60 Celsius. No problems so far.

Q: 8. Can the center column be shortened or removed?

A: The center column can be removed, but Gitzo no longer makes replacement short columns for series 1. see link: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=gs1510kb&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search=

Q: 9. What is the difference between the G-lock Ultra twist locks and the Traveler G-lock system?

A: The G-Lock Ultra is better sealed and more resistant to dust and debris getting inside.

Q: 10. If anyone owns one of these could check this. When the tripod is collapsed (with the legs up over the head) how wide is the spread between the legs nearest the head? I have just the legs with a Acratech GS-Ss head and it's wider than i anticipated making it a bit larger than i thought. It's about 4-3/4 across with the GP-Ss, with no head it's about 3 . From the pictures it looks closer to 3 using the gitzo head.

A: I have recently purchased this GITZO trip. My measurement across the largest distance across the outer points is: 4-1/4 with the plat mounted on the head.

[Twist Lock] This is a fantastic tripod and head. It is light but still sturdy. It is expensive, maybe you can take a chance on cheaper tripod and get the same quality?

[4] Needed a light tripod for landscape . I was hesitant at the price, however the quality and stability for the convenience as well as ease of deployment more than justifies it. Best purchase in gear I have done

[Carbon Fiber] Compared to the cheaper tripods I was using before, these tripods are significantly more stable against mechanical shakes and bumps while remaining reasonably lightweight, an excellent compromise of weight and stability. The build quality seems very good, and the serviceability is great. It is easy to swap heads or columns. Not to be ignored, the aesthetics of the Gitzo tripods are also uniformly excellent; they do not ruin the shot if they are visible in the background of a wide angle and their appearance instills confidence in the client.

[4] Fantastic heavy duty (but light weight) at 3.2 lbs. Folds compactly easily into a suitcase. Held a heavy camera with a very heavy 500 mm zoom lens with no concerns. Very well made. If you are doing any significant travel photography, this is well worth the cost. It takes a little longer to set up (twist compression to keep legs extended rather than flip compressors) but for the weight and portability advantage this is a minor inconvenience

[Twist Lock] very light. easy to carry and use. supports Sony A7mkiv with 24-105 or 105 macro well. seems well damped (for its light weight).

[Twist Lock] I've been taking pictures as a hobby with a camera for over 30 years, and I think that even in the digital age, a tripod is a valuable accessory.
I have used tripods from various manufacturers, but GITZO has always been the best, showing what a tripod should be.
Now all I have left is GITZO.
I hope that it will continue to be a tripod that I have longed for.
