This case is constructed from lightweight, waterproof 1000D domestic Cordura fabric. Along with dustproof protection, this case provides plenty of protection for your recorder in a wide range of environments while remaining easy to carry with a small footprint.

The rain top sports a clear window for easy view of your devices. The fabric helps shield ambient light and the window is made from high-grade, marine-quality clear vinyl.

The battery wrap closure accommodates four and eight AA sleds, NP-F sled options, NP-1, Remote Audio, and various USB-C power options. The two-piece wrap results in a neat battery cover that leaves ends open if wiring is needed. Interior hook-and-loop fasteners secure the batteries in place.

The side allows for easy access to your recorder I/O as well as a caddy for headphones and cables

  • Hook-and-loop fasteners secure the rain top/travel cover
  • Left and right hook-and-loop boots to seal around cables
  • Left and right boot zippers for checking connections, plugging in headphones, adjusting volume, and other quiet mid-production changes
  • The boot also has hook-and-loop sealing capability with a flip top

Sold separately, the optional STR-STEALTHPKT ii2 removable pocket features quiet zipper closure to keep small items or can be fully opened to reveal clip-on webs for up to two small receivers, and has its own belt loops along with MOLLE style attachment straps. This removable front pocket allows you to take full advantage of the stealthy nature of the Sound Devices MixPre-3 without the added bulk of a pocket when you don't need one.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the pocket that holds four G3 receivers have an exit point for the cables that leads to the main compartment? Id like to use the pocket for the receivers without any cabling outside the bag.

A: The Strut bag for the MixPre-6 has a slot in the back of the pocket so you can route the cables to the inputs within the bag. Id assume the MixPre-3 bag is the same but you want to confirm. Overal Ive been very happy with this bag.

Q: 2. The title said for mixpre-6 but the bottom option said for mixpre-3. So which is the right one?

A: B&H # STRMP6 is the correct catalog code for the Strut STR-MP6 Custom-Fit Field Case for Sound Devices MixPre-6.

Q: 3. What's the best way to mount this onto a camera cage/ hotshoe?

A: The Zoom F3 has a 1/4"-20 thread on the bottom for mounting to an accessory shoe or a camera cage. So you can use something like B&H # ZOHS1 or BH #IMCA110 to be able to do that.

Q: 4. Would the front pocket accomodate zaxcom qrx recievers?

A: Thank you for your question. You should be to fit a QRX receiver in the front panel.

Q: 5. Have anyone tried to fit a 702 in this bag ?

A: The Strut STR-MP6 is a custom-fit field case for the Sound Devices MixPre-6 and the dimensions of the MixPre-6 are 1.4 x 6.5 x 4.6" (36 x 166 x 118 mm). The dimensions of the Sound Devices 702 are 1.8 x 8.2 x 4.9” (45 x 209 x 125 mm) which is larger than the MixPre-6 on all sides, especially for the length across which is 1.7" longer. The 702 is not going to fit inside the STR-MP6 case. We do have other cases that will fit the 702, like the PortaBrace Audio Recorder Case for Sound Devices 702, 722, and 744 (B&H # POAR7B) and PortaBrace Audio Organizer Case (B&H # POAO15XB).

Q: 6. What are the dimensions of the bag?

A: While the manufacturer does not specify the exact dimensions of the bag, internal dimensions would match that of the MixPre3 recorder at 5.7 x 1.4 x 4.3".

Q: 7. What is the best USB-C external power bank to use with the Zoom F3?

A: BH #GO21950 is an excellent compatible solution to consider.

Q: 8. Is there a cable pass through from the front pocket to the main compartment to allow connecting to a MX-Hirose DC power input sled from a NP1 style battery?

A: Yes, the Strut STR-MP6 Custom-Fit Field Case for Sound Devices MixPre-6 has a small opening to pass cables through to the main compartment from the front pocket.

Q: 9. Does this bag fits the MixPre 6 II?

A: Yes the Strut STR-MP6 Custom-Fit Field Case for Sound Devices MixPre-6 is compatible with the MixPre-6-II

Q: 10. Will this also fit a MixPre-3 first gen?

[Cordura, Fabric] I tried a few sound cases that claimed to be suited for the mix pre 3, but they all offered a lot of padding and spare space, this is a nice tight fit, with one medium sized front pocket.

[Shoulder Strap] I have been looking for a compact audio bag. This bag is the perfect one for my use case. What I like are:

* Compactness
* Easy access to the sides and bottom (battery) of the recorder.
* a pocket that can hold one 5-foot XLR and a TRS cable.
*  good rain protection (top cover and the bag material).

[Yes] A well-made bag that fits the MixPre-3 perfectly. Easy access to the sides through zippered and Velcro openings. Clear rain cover can be removed from top. Bottom is adjustable to fit even the battery sled with large batteries. Straps hold the unit in place. Material seems durable. Front pocket is handy or collapses when not in use. Very nice!

[0.455 lb] I was looking at this one and the Portabrace option online, and after asking a few questions via Live Chat I chose the Strut case. It is very well made, and easy to use with total flexibility for accessing the battery packs. Frankly, I'm still trying to figure out how I will use some of the pouches (pictures would be nice) but I can't think of any improvements I would ask for and I expect this to last a long time. Made in Vermont - how cool is that?

[0.455 lb] This case is made to fit with just about any solution for the DR-60 being thought of or being able to be created by the owner of this case. The harness leaves you hands free is you are a boom operator, this can be patched into a DJs sound board to capture live audio, or used as a main source for audio for a DSLR or Camcorder. If you are using wireless receivers for say lav mics there are place that allow you to attach them to the case. For a Boom Operator this is a plus as now they don't have to deal with cabling issues since only a XLR to mini jack is needed to pipe sound in the the DR-60D mkII in my case. All the battery compartments are easily accessed without the need to tear the recorder out of the Strut case to get the the batteries in the recorder. It also have a compartment for the Tascam BP-66AA and accessory external pack or in some cases I have heard that ppl used the lithium cell phone packs to power the DR-60. You just need to be careful of the size. but there is lots of room inside that pocket as well. The left cable flaps work perfectly giving you the space needed to route XLRs out of the case, however the right flap needs a bit better solution in my opinion. the 1/8 phone stress relief collar get cramped and tends to bend. Over time this could cause a cable short. There are also two (2) velcro straps on either side of the DR-60's handles that allow you to secure the recorder so that there is no way for it to fall from the case.

[Shoulder Strap] I have only had it a couple weeks, but it works great with the mixpre-6 so far. Very happy with it!

[Yes] Tried the larger silent portabrace, but returned for this bag—a better fit for the mixpre, great quality, and I especially like the included shoulder harness. It doesn’t fix the headphone encoder knob access issue on the mixpre, but I’m not sure any bag could. Happy I exchanged for this.

[0.455 lb] I am not a professional sound mixer. I'm a doc DP and often need to run my own sound off of my hip. I was looking for a very small profile bag for a MixPre3 II, 2-3 Lectrosonics LRe receivers, Tentacle box, and an Anker PowerCore+ 20100 USB battery pack. This bag met all my needs.

It's true that there isn't much space, but that's because this bag was cut so precisely to the specs of the MixPre 3. You can't get a tighter package than this bag.

I have the Lectrosonics receiver packs wired to the mixer using low-profile XLR plugs, which are easily configurable through the velcro side closures. Plugging in headphones or adjusting the encoder knob is easily accessible through the zipper openings. Velcro is thoughtfully placed to attach/remove covers and to roll flaps out of the way. Adding a strip of velcro to your USB battery bank will attach directly to the bottom flap and keep it in place. Comes with a shoulder harness.

My only complaints (and these are pretty minor in my opinion) are that it can be difficult to get to the on/off switch on the mixer. And I wish the belt loops in the back were larger (they measure 1.5 wide, I wish they were 2 wide to fit more standard padded production belts).

Overall this bag exceeded my expectations.
