Telephoto zoom is designed for APS-C-format Canon EF-S-mount DSLRs and provides an 88-400mm equivalent focal length range.

One Ultra-Low Dispersion glass element noticeably reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations for high clarity and color fidelity.

Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for greater contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.

An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 3.5 stops to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.

Enhanced lens coatings minimize flare and ghosting in order to produce true colors with maintained contrast.

An STM stepping AF motor realizes smooth, near-silent autofocus that is complemented by a rear focus system, advanced AF algorithms, and a high-speed CPU for fast AF performance. Additionally, full-time manual focus override is also available.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this lens be used with a Canon Rebel SL1 and will it be able to use all the lens features such as auto-focus?

A: Instructions for the lens includes a listing of Canon cameras with which the lens is compatible as of July 2013. Compatibility with EOS Rebel SL1/100D is included in the listing. I would assume that would include ability to use all lens features with that camera model.

Q: 2. is this compatible with the Canon EOS Rebel SL3 DSLR Camera? Does it come with a lens cap? How many feet will this zoom to?

A: Yes, the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens is compatible on the Canon SL3. It comes with a front and back lens cap, As for zoom the lens is a 55-250mm zoom lens. It is good for some wild life and sports but there are longer zoom lenses.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with a Canon EOS Rebel XTI?

A: Yes, Canon EOS Rebel XTI is compatible with the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens.

Q: 4. Is the lens good for shooting sports?

A: Maybe, if you have plenty of light and aren't planning on being a serious sports photographer. The maximum aperture on this lens is f5.6 at 250mm. A sports photographer would want a lens with at least a maximum f2.8 which would come with a much higher price tag.

Q: 5. will this len fit on rebel t5i?

A: Yes, it will fit the T5i.It will give you a range between 88mm-400mm focal length, due to the T5i's x 1.6 crop factor.Overall I find this lens to be extremely good with it's sharpness, color and speed of focusing. If you do video with it, it is virtually silent too.Highly recommended !!

Q: 6. will this lense work for the cannon eos 70D?

A: The Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens is compatible on the Canon EOS 70D.

Q: 7. What is STM ?

A: It refers to the lens's internal stepping motor (STM) which is used to facilitate smooth and quiet autofocusing. It is esp. good for making videos. I use that lens on my EOS 70D, and it works quite nicely.

Q: 8. Is this lens compatible for a Canon 90D?

A: Yes Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens is compatible with the Canon 90D.

Q: 9. Will this lens fit and work on a Rebel T5 not the T5i?

A: The Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens is compatible for use with both the entry-level Canon EOS Digital Rebel T5 DSLR camera as well as the more advanced Canon EOS Digital REbel T5i DSLR camera. Both cameras use the EF-S lens mount with the white square on the lens/lens mount to connect the lens to the camera.

Q: 10. Is compatible for 6d mari ii

A: Unfortunately, the Canon EF-S 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS STM is not compatible with the Canon 6d Mk II. The Canon 6d Mk II does not accept EF-S mount lenses, and does not work well with crop-sensor lenses even in the EF-mount.

[APS-C] It is sharp, light, and affordable. A welcome addition to my sl1

[Canon EF-S] Great Lens! I'm an amateur photographer and best described as a street photographer. This lens provides me the flexibility of taking a variety of shots without having to change lenses.

[Yes] I own the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II Lens and a Canon T5i. It has been a very good lens for the money. I read about the new EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM and decided to try it out. It was definitely worth the money. It delivers better IQ in still photography and in video it's so much better that it absolutely renders the IS II non STM obsolete. I would buy this lens again, I can't see myself ever going back.

[7, Rounded] Purchased for half off on ordering a 70D Kit from B&H. Took it to the local greenway; my first picture was a very sharp shot of a blue heron, allowing cropping to fill the frame, from quite a distance, with fine feather detail. I've since posted photos to Facebook for the first time since 2009, with tons of kudos received. Decent bokeh, did not notice anything bad, but with f4 to f5.6, you have to be careful, to have a non-busy background, as opposed to 1.8 to 2.8, where bokeh is easier. I used the 70-300 IS USM till recently - this lens is half the weight, and sharp at 250mm, while the 70-300 was soft at 300.

[0.29x] Using with 7D mark ii, tack sharp pics at all lengths. Bought this lens as a walk around lens, it has not dissapointed. Responsive, no problems tracking. The only knock is that you have to buy the lens hood seperately, it should come with the lens. Other than that extremely happy with this lens!

[Autofocus] Not the first purchase of this lens. Have used this for years, and purchased for my now grown up children to use in their photography development.

[1.135 lb] Needed more reach than my 18-135mm for videoing youth league football and 55-250 gets the job done.

[7, Rounded] Bought this lens for travel. I carry 10-22, 17-55 and now this 55-250 mm. I needed more reach for the trip to Panama and Costa Rica. I'm using a Rebel T2i. Weight is an issue for me. I really cannot tell much difference in the sharpness from my 70-200 white lens & it is lighter/smaller. I needed to use a higher ISO to maintain shutter speeds. I'm Happy with it. Good Wildlife Pictures!

[7, Rounded] Original purchased back in 2016 and has been used frequently as an avid amateur photographer. Sensor failed and repair center deemed unrepairable and recycled. This was the same lens as a replacement.
