Telephoto zoom is designed for APS-C-format Canon EF-S-mount DSLRs and provides an 88-400mm equivalent focal length range.

One Ultra-Low Dispersion glass element noticeably reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations for high clarity and color fidelity.

Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for greater contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.

An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 3.5 stops to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.

Enhanced lens coatings minimize flare and ghosting in order to produce true colors with maintained contrast.

An STM stepping AF motor realizes smooth, near-silent autofocus that is complemented by a rear focus system, advanced AF algorithms, and a high-speed CPU for fast AF performance. Additionally, full-time manual focus override is also available.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this lens compatible for a Canon 90D?

A: Yes Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens is compatible with the Canon 90D.

Q: 2. Will this work with the T6i EOS model (not the Rebel T6i EOS model)? Thanks.

A: The Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens is compatible for use with all Canon EOS DSLR digital cameras which use the smaller APS-C 1.6x cropped sensor, which would include the Canon EOS Digital Rebel T6i DSLR camera.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with an EF to RF lens adapter?

A: Yes, the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens can be used on a Canon R series camera using the Canon EF to RF adapter. Please be aware that the 55-205mm lens is a crop sensor lens. It would be fully compatible when adapted to a crop sensor camera such as the R7, R10, R50 or R100. When adapted to a full frame Canon R camera, the resolution would be lowered and the camera will crop the image by 1.6x.

Q: 4. which lens do you think is better for sports? I was looking at theses 2 the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS or the EF 70-300mm F/4-F/5.6 USM?

A: It does depend on the sport you are shooting. I have both lenses and use the 55-250 at least 80% of the time. Trusted to get the shot needed, especially in fast paced situations.

Q: 5. Will this fit a canon EOS M50

A: No, the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens will not fit directly on the Canon EOS M50 Mirrorless Camera, as the M50 has a EF-M lens mount, and this lens is a standard EF-mount. In order to use this lens on that camera you would need the Canon EF-M Lens Adapter Kit for Canon EF / EF-S Lenses, BH #CALA (https://bhpho.to/3TyTYFy).

Q: 6. Will it work on a Canon C-100 video camera?

A: Yes. The Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens would work with the Canon C100.

Q: 7. Will a 1.4 telextender work with this lens?

A: Sorry, no. Telextenders work best with extreme (expensive) telephoto primes with fast f/2.8 apertures. They cannot work with consumer lenses like this with an effective f/11 stop. If you try to mount this, the glass elements most likely will hit and damage each other. Even if you succeeded in mounting, the lens would be so dark, you could not focus and the image quality, sharpness wise, would be very poor.

Q: 8. will this lense work for the cannon eos 70D?

A: The Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens is compatible on the Canon EOS 70D.

Q: 9. will this support canon eos rebel t5?

A: Yes it will. The Canon EOS Rebel T5i camera is compatible with any autofocus lenses made by Canon or for the EOS system by other manufacturers.

Q: 10. will this len fit on rebel t5i?

A: Yes, it will fit the T5i.It will give you a range between 88mm-400mm focal length, due to the T5i's x 1.6 crop factor.Overall I find this lens to be extremely good with it's sharpness, color and speed of focusing. If you do video with it, it is virtually silent too.Highly recommended !!

[APS-C] Original purchased back in 2016 and has been used frequently as an avid amateur photographer. Sensor failed and repair center deemed unrepairable and recycled. This was the same lens as a replacement.

[0.29x] It is sharp, light, and affordable. A welcome addition to my sl1

[f/4 to 5.6] I used this lens at a convention where the subject was very far away in a pretty dark room. I was worried my pictures might come out blurry due to the lighting conditions, but they didn't thanks to great Image Stabilization.

[Yes] Not the first purchase of this lens. Have used this for years, and purchased for my now grown up children to use in their photography development.

[7, Rounded] This lens is used shooting wild birds in my local area. It is lightweight and operates very quietly with the STM feature. I am able to move and shoot easily holding the D70 with this lens attached. I plan to take it to South Africa because of its portability, where I can reach out and capture wildlife of all types from moving vehicles. The IS feature works very well from the backseat of a motorcycle traveling on paved roads at a steady speed.

[f/4 to 5.6] I own the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II Lens and a Canon T5i. It has been a very good lens for the money. I read about the new EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM and decided to try it out. It was definitely worth the money. It delivers better IQ in still photography and in video it's so much better that it absolutely renders the IS II non STM obsolete. I would buy this lens again, I can't see myself ever going back.

[f/4 to 5.6] Using with 7D mark ii, tack sharp pics at all lengths. Bought this lens as a walk around lens, it has not dissapointed. Responsive, no problems tracking. The only knock is that you have to buy the lens hood seperately, it should come with the lens. Other than that extremely happy with this lens!

[Autofocus] Purchased for half off on ordering a 70D Kit from B&H. Took it to the local greenway; my first picture was a very sharp shot of a blue heron, allowing cropping to fill the frame, from quite a distance, with fine feather detail. I've since posted photos to Facebook for the first time since 2009, with tons of kudos received. Decent bokeh, did not notice anything bad, but with f4 to f5.6, you have to be careful, to have a non-busy background, as opposed to 1.8 to 2.8, where bokeh is easier. I used the 70-300 IS USM till recently - this lens is half the weight, and sharp at 250mm, while the 70-300 was soft at 300.

[1.135 lb] Bought this lens to get a little more reach than my 15-85 could give me. Silent and quick to focus, even in pretty low light conditions, the images it produces for me are vivid and sharp. I have found the 55-250 to have excellent sharpness throughout, including in the corners, with very little (if any) vignetting. Other than the plastic construction (which doesn't bother me AT ALL) this 55-250 performs better than my old 24-105. And considering the amazingly low price, I'd even go so far as to favorably compare it to the 70-200!

[58 mm (Front)] If I'm traveling and want a light lens that works for all my photography needs, I grab this. It's light, very nice quality, and always pleases me.
