This mic is perfect for recording directly to computers, be they mac or windows systems. With the right, separately available adapters, you can also record with Android and iOS devices.

Don't want to use a computer or a mobile device? Not a problem: the built-in recorder can hold up to 12 hours of wav files. This feature, combined with the rechargeable battery, allows for versatile and mobile operation.

The Tula features controls for headphone volume, pattern selection, instant mute, and microphone gain—putting you in charge of every level of the recording process. Also on hand are controls for the built-in recorder as well as a button for the built-in noise-reduction. Literally everything you need to control is intuitively built into the microphone itself, so you don't have to fiddle with any software operations.

Choose Cardioid if it's just you speaking in an untreated room: cardioid polar patterns are a great natural defense against picking up unwanted room tone. If you're recording more people, or want a more honest, true-to-life sound, choose the omnidirectional polar pattern, which picks up audio equally all around the capsule.

The mic has an integrated headphone jack with an independent gain control for latency-free monitoring. Simply plug your headphones into the mic's 3.5mm input, and you'll hear your broadcast-quality audio in all its glory.

The mic records audio at 16-bit / 48 kHz, giving you the broadcast standard for media playback. On the audio side, the two-capsule design ensures that whatever mode you choose, the mic will pick up a clear and present sound.

The Tula Mic can also be switched to 44.1 kHz for use with Akai MPC Series devices.

The Tula Mic is brought to you by the team behind the world-renowned Soyuz Microphones. Like Soyuz mics, the Tula features an open top end that's never harsh, a pleasant midrange, and a low end that's full without being boomy. Featuring Burr Brown op amps and dedicated cardioid and omni capsules, the Tula provides professional-quality audio in a wide variety of situations.

Just plug the Tula into your computer's USB port with the included USB cable, select it as a device in your recording software, and you're ready to get to work. Or, hit the Record button on the side of the mic, and start recording without an external device. The mic runs either off buss power or built-in battery power: the choice is yours.

The Tula ships with an integrated stand for easy placement, but you can remove it if need be and attach the mic to any threaded stand with the commensurate connections.

A: No it does not come with a XLR cable in box

A: The Rycote InVision Softie Lyre Pistol Grip Shockmount that is included in the Deity Microphones S-Mic 2 Location Kit allows boom pole mounting with the 3/8 threading at the base of the grip.

Q: 4. will this mic fit perfectly in the XLR handle for the Sony FX30? not loose? just right?

A: The Deity Microphones S-Mic 2S Moisture-Resistant Short Shotgun Microphone will not fit perfectly inside the Sony FX30 camera bracket, a spacer will be required, we recommend this item: Auray Rubber Spacer Sleeve for XLR Shotgun Microphones on Camcorders B&H # AURSSMCAM45 MFR # RSSM-CAM45

Q: 5. I bought this mic as my first boom, but I need a boom pole and all the reviews I read complain about poor quality. Can you rec a solid boom pole and boom pole holder for studio use that is moderately priced?

A: There are numerous boompoles that are good quality and compatible for use with the Deity S-Mic 2S such as the On-Stage MBP7000 Microphone Boom Pole (B&H # ONMBP7000), Rode Boompole (B&H # ROBP), Rode Mini Boompole Compact Microphone Boom Pole (B&H # ROMBP), K-Tek KIP Graphite Interview Boompole (B&H # KTKIP), K-Tek KE-69 Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole (B&H # KTKE69), K-Tek KE-89 Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole (B&H # KTKE89), or the Cavision SGP525F 5-Section Mixed Fiber Boom Pole with Fixed Top (B&H # CASGP525) are all good options. Q: 6. Will this mic diameter fit well on the mic holder that comes with the Fx6?

Q: 7. If using as a boom mic, is there a suggested receiver to pair it with?

Q: 8. What is the pinout of this unit with and without the input jack attached? Is the capsule attached to both L, R? Does the input replace the capsule = R? Does it take L, R, or Both on input for the R channel output?

A: When using the Deity Microphones V-Mic D4 Mini Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone on its own, the signal captured by the microphone capsule is sent to both the left and right channels of the 3.5mm output connection. When using the V-Mic D4 Mini with a secondary input source, the microphone signal is allocated to the left channel of the output connection while the secondary source uses the right channel.

Q: 9. Can you recommend a mic stand adapter for this? Say's the diameter is .75"

A: You can use a shockmount like the Auray SHM-ESG Suspension Shockmount for Shotgun Microphones (B&H # AUSHMESG),the RODE SM4-R Suspension Shockmount (B&H # ROSM4R), the Airo by K-Tek ASM1 Shockmount 1 (B&H # AIASM1), or the Audio-Technica AT8415 Universal Shockmount (B&H # AUAT8415).

Q: 10. Would the Rycote 18cm not be too large for this mic? Just wondering whether the 12cm Rycote wouldn't be a better fit for a mic that has a length of 148mm?

A: Yes. The 12cm would be a better fit.

[16-Bit ] Ordered two of these and it's easy to see why they are the industry standard. Great boom for the price.

[16-Bit ] I already own a number of podcasting mics but saw a video on these Tula mics that really intrigued me. I mostly wanted to have the option for internal recording without the mic even needing plugged in to a power source.

I have NOT been disappointed. The quality of the mics has been superb. A perfect blend of highs/mids/lows. It makes my voice sound good (adult male), my wife's (adult female) and even my three year old boy's! Very crisp sound - not needing much post production correction at all, if any!

They're made of high quality metal materials. Parts are replaceable (don't see that needing to be done, but still nice). The retro, yet somehow modern, look to them is so so good. You just WANT to use them.

Internal recording and battery life are game changers. Wow! You can even record a single track that uses the noise cancellation feature, but simultaneously record a safety track without it.

Plenty of buttons on both sides is nice too, so you don't have a lot of tricky taps to get where you want with the settings.

The only things I can warn you about are these:
- There is no screen or gain knob with numbers to see settings or playback features. You kind of have to get your muscle memory down a bit to navigate the features (not bad though with all the available buttons).
- These mics are sensitive! Definitely buy the Tula pop filters or you'll get too many plosives.

One last good thing - although all these mics sound better when your mouth is closest to the mic, these Tula mics sound great even when you're a few feet away. Awesome!

[Side Address] Arm works well, easy set-up, and comes with an adaptor piece for mics like the yeti I currently have. In fact, the arm was originally so strong, it wouldn't hold the mic low enough in place. After a couple days it loosened up and it works like a dream now. I'll be hooking my rode podmic up to it soon, which is heavier than most, so I sprung for the nicer Rode PSA1. Of course, it's pricey, but if you have a heavy microphone I recommend not wasting time on inferior arms, haha.

[3.7 V] We record books for the blind using volunteer readers across the country. Our previous solution was a mix of multiple pieces of equipment that required extensive training and support. The Tula is intuitive for our readers to use, has excellent sound quality, and good noise rejection.
