[0.09 lb] For SSD's I've mostly used SanDisk (and a few Lacie drives) but decided to try this one since it is a bit lower priced. It's very fast and I've used it for three edit projects so far in the past three months with no issues. I'm able to play 6K RAW video back in real time, do complex After Effects renders (UHD resolution, using a second drive for cache), and just about anything else post-production related with all the assets on this drive.

Plan on getting more of these but after this first trial run with the Transcend 2TB USB 3.2 I have nothing but a positive experience.

[256 GB] It's nice to have a fast USB stick in a more familiar size than other modern counterparts. The end caps look much less brown in person, really more of a translucent black, a nice surprise. They seem to stay put which is nice.


I've already shuttled it between an M1 Max MacBook Pro and Windows 11 Pro desktop without issue.

Gets hot if you're moving hundreds of gigs at a time, no surprise there.

I've decided to pick up a second one, they're great.

[256 GB] Very fast. On a USB -C system, it reads and writes at about 500MBps, which is about the rated speed of the SSD in that system. On a USB 3 system, it reads and writes at about 225MBps.

It gets warm to the touch moving a 10 or 15 GB, but nothing that’s alarming.

[Bus Powered] This USB storage device is well constructed and generously sized. USB type A&C male connectors make file transfer from tablet to PC convenient. Great for use as Windows PE recovery drive. Will recommend to family and friends.

[256 GB] It’s fast compared to your typical thumbdrive. I would say it’s between the speed of a Hard Drive and an NVME drive.

The USB C connection is recommended as the USB A even though it’s 3.2 has a noticeable bottle neck.

[Aluminum] I used this to store the original 512GB SSD that came with my Zbook Studio 16 as I've upgraded it with a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB drive. Using Macrium Reflect, I was able to image the new SSD with the factory image to the SSD stored in this enclosure. Speed was excellent with no apparent slowdowns during this sustained writing process. Temps were somewhat warm but certainly not hot.


I've since used this enclosure to store OS backup images. Again with no issues.


Installation is straightforward using the included instructions. Though the rubber fastener at the end of the m.2 SDD is a little finicky. But since they were going to a tool-less design, I can't really complain.

It can record less than 8 minutes in 256GB using the ProRes 4K 60FPS, should get a bigger one like 4TB when it goes on sale.

[Aluminum] Wow… compared to a regular USB thumb drive, this drive moves FAST! I copied over 200GB is less than 7 minutes. Worth the extra cost.

[5 VDC] This device works well for portable storage. However, it gets very warm when operating.

[5 VDC] I got two of these for storing astrophotography images during a recent trip, and they have been great! You can store a lot of data on one of these, and because they are SSD drives, file transfer is incredibly fast! The best part - one end is USB-A, and the other end is USB-C, so it's compatible with any device!! These were recommended to me during a product chat (sorry, I forgot the name but thank you), and he was spot on with this recommendation. Get this drive NOW for storing your data!!
