Q: 1. will this work for a canon fx 300 video camera or is it designed for smaller dslrs?

A: As long as your camcorder has 3/8 -16 female tripod sockets to connect the camera to the Manfrotto 131DD Tripod Accessory Arm (or you will be using a tripod head on the threads to convert to the smaller 1/4 -20 threads, and as long as the tripod can support the weight of the arm and the camcorders you wish to connect to the arm, it should be compatible for your usage needs.

Q: 2. The description says it is 1/4-20 on both ends but the photo looks like it is 3/8 and 1/4. Which is it?

A: That's what it is, one end 1/4 , the other end 3/8 .

Q: 7. Can I attach a Manfrotto tripod plate to the bottom of this bar and put the plate on the tripod? Thanks.

A: no...you must unscrew your current tripod head...this will then thread into the tripod directly...also the most firmly...you don't want to be using adapters and such to mount this to your tripod...that would be unsafe for your equipment

Q: 10. The photo shows the arm with two heads but no heads come with the arm, what is the part number for the heads? Are the heads for attaching cameras have 1/4 20 threads screws?

[0.455 lb] At first I had weird experience with this product, but after their customer service rep made sure I understood how to use it. I 100% recommend this product. The team at small rigs go out of their way to really the end user.

[2] Very well built magic arm. Wish they have a 3/8 to 1/4-20 because very few things actually have a 1/4-20 mount with locking pins.

[0.455 lb] This magic arm was purchased to replace a cheaper-made alternative arm that suffered from an inability to hold its position and securely mount an accessory to a camera.

The Smallrig articulated magic arm employs a pair of ball joints and a large T-handle.The ball joints allow for a much wider range of positioning than the typical magic arm. This is a much better design that affords much greater flexibility in positioning the accessory to be held with the arm.

The T-handle allows for the user to apply very positive leverage and clamp the arm down into position in a very secure manner. This ensures that the arm will not move and provides a very secure and stable mount for the accessory that the arm is holding.

The 1/4-20 mount points on the ends of the arms that the user threads into the camera and accessory use triangular spinner controls that provide the user with the ability to exert a great deal of leverage to secure the arm.

They are also drilled so that you can insert something like a hex wrench handle to increase the leverage exerted on the mount points for an even tighter, more secure attachment. This is an excellent, well-made product that I would buy again and would recommend to others in the market for such an accessory.

[2] I bought this to mount lights to my Nikon Z8 cage (by Smallrig). Although the finish is more of a cool/dark gunmetal compared to the black anodizing of my cage, it doesn't matter because this is very sturdy, and once tightened it stays in place - no play or wiggling. Gets the job done and looks good too.

[2] I grabbed one of these for a quick location shoot to mount up my Atomos Shogun Inferno to an FX6 and it held up like a champ in very hot, dusty locations. As usual, impressive milling and build from SmallRig and I like the thoughtful little pin wrench tool magnetically held in the locking knob. VERY NICE.
