Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. You list possible vertical spread angles, but not the horizontal dispersion angle. I am trying to cover a space without the use of a center array. I should be able to do it if the horizontal spread is about 75 or 80 degrees. Will I make it?

A: The Toa Electronics HX-5W Variable Dispersion Array Speaker have a specified horizontal dispersion angle of 100 degrees.

Q: 2. I'm not getting any signal. Anything I can do?

A: That doesn't give me much to go on. What modules do you have installed? What are you using for a source? Is the unit powering on? Did you check the fuses? What are you using it for? I don't know if you are a newbie or a audio professional, so I don't really know where to start. I'm not an audio pro myself, but did install one of these recently, so, if you can give me as much information as you can maybe I can help you out.

Q: 3. When PTT is activated will the mic pop?

A: No, the mic should not pop when PTT is activated.

Q: 4. Is this amp (TOA A-2240) rack mountable? If so, what is the product number for brackets?

A: There is not a rack kit available, but you could use a rack shelf.

Q: 5. The description says it hass wireless capability, and it doesn't as is. You have to buy that separately, do you sell the Wireless tuner: WTU-3800 series, WTU-4800 series and also the Wireless microphone: WM-3220 series, WM-3310 series, WM-4200 series, WM-4300 series ?

A: B&H does not offer these optional wireless components.

Q: 6. TOA SR-HS3 recommended amplifier?

A: The Toa Electronics SR-H3S Slim Line Array Speaker - Long & Curved Version uses 360W RMS power at 8 ohms impedance. A compatible amplifier would first need to consider how many speakers need to be connected. In a scenario where one speaker is connected to each amplifier channel, a general rule of thumb is to provide around 20% more power than the speaker's RMS rating from the amplifier channel. In this scenario, an amplifier providing around 450W at 8 ohms from each output channel would be ideal.

Q: 7. How do I wire the four conductor cable into a balance signal

A: This mic comes with an unterminated lead wire for connecting to paging system amplifiers. If you want to to terminate this mic with an XLR connection, you would solder the two main cables to the appropriate pins and use the shielding for the ground. Toa has the wiring configuration in the service manual and online.

Q: 8. What sort of audio cable connection does this mic have?

A: A two conductor shielded cable 20AWG or larger for communication. And another two conductor separate if you want to use the contact to trigger another devise by contact closure.

Q: 9. Can we use AN-9001 with Bosch Praesidio Amplifiers? as the AVC is built in with the Power amplifiers in BOSCH.

A: Unfortunately not. The TOA AN9001 Ambient Noise Sensing Microphone is designed for use with the TOA 9000 Series Digital Matrix Mixer/Amplifiers, in commercial sound installation. The AN9001 microphone requires the AN-001T Ambient Noise Controller Module or DP-L2 processor.

Q: 10. Will this work to stop phantom power from reaching my ribbon mic?

A: Yes. This product is designed to prevent phantom power from passing through it when connected in between a preamp and microphone.

[Full-Range] We are a 200 seat 3/4 thrust theatre and have been trying to remedy our sound for years. OUr seating is very steep so getting an even sound level while still allowing the actors voices to be heard from stage has been a real challenge. These speakers are a perfect fit. We mounted the house left and right speakers vertically to reach up into the higher seats and the center ones horizontally to get the entire center section. The sound is crisp and clear. For the first time we are able to project a true live sound through out our space that soes not take away from the performers.

[Open-Back] My church installed a pair of these in the congregational area to replace a pair of cheap 2-way 15s. The improvements was (night and day). Vocals are clear and punchy. Highs are natural , not harsh. To totally appreciate the sound of instruments through these speakers you must add the /A sub. Which we soon are going to do soon. Then the sound would be Perfecto .
