[Plastic] Bought this way back in 2013 for use with my college computer program which involved a lot of network device configuration (primarily with Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls). Never had an issue with this adapter functioning as intended. It worked reliably and it's really durable considering I've had it knotted in a ball, and stored in a tight coil but it still works. It's almost 4 years later and I have no concerns about this thing lasting me a decade or above. Never did use the parallel portion. If there's any complaint I have, it's that it feels a little cheap since it's just plastic, and it looks very plain with just the grey. Making it like a black matte plastic like the many video adapters, and adding the company logo would be a nice change. 5

[RS-232] For those few times left you need a serial cable, and you don't have a computer built after 1995 (well, an old one, anyway), there's this guy/gal/cable. It works, the drivers installed flawlessly, the cable did its job, and I was able to lie to terminal software and tell it that a USB port was a serial port. YAY! 5

[1x USB-A Male] Unlike other adapters that work for some target devices and PCs and not others, this one works for everything RS232-USB. BUT, must be smart enough to install the drivers first (not plug&play), and look in Device Manager to see what port was assigned, or assign a different port. The nice thing is that it remembers that port for next time, so you are not chasing ports each time it is plugged in - provided that the port selected remains free on the host PC. 5

[RS-232] I was unable to upgrade firmware and/or control my iOptron mount with the KeySpan Tripp-Lite USB to Serial cable. It was suggested by iOptron that I get the FIDI cable instead. A member of our Astronomy club recommended Startech.....and the rest is history. I would not hesitate using this company for additional needs. 5
