Q: 7. Is it possible to mix different paper backdrop widths using 12ft Alu-Core crossbars?

A: Yes. You can just get the Alucore inside the cardboard core of most seamless papers. The paper can be positioned in the middle of the 12" length. There's a good chance it will slip when you turn the alucore with the chain. Manfrotto used to put a strip of double stick tape down the length of the alucore. Don't know if they still do. This was to give the core some stick so that the background wouldn't slip.

Q: 8. Can this be used with drop ceilings?

A: The Impact Drop Ceiling Adaptor, B&H # IMVPADCA, would work for your usage needs. As indicated on our website, the Impact Drop Ceiling Adaptor clamps scissor-like to an intersection of your drop ceiling support frame. Simply remove the Varipole's (or Autopole's) rubber top and the spring top adapter and insert the top of the Varipole into the adaptor's receiver. An Allen screw is included for additional tightening if necessary

[7.5 lb] When the legs of a light stand will be in your shot, or where your location is less than ideal, and you just gotta hang a light from something, the Auto pole is an excellent go to choice. I chose to add two more of these units to my production grip truck, to aid in quick set ups and a secure place to hang video lights, strobes or hide power power cords. These units are also great to hang props, or in a worse case scenario, let the wardrobe dept use them briefly to hang their clothes from. I bought mine in 3 different sizes, and you can even get accessories to make them longer. The Manfrotto Auto Pole 2 is very strong, and I do suggest you buy them in black, as there can be the occasion that a long, reflective object can reflect light either onto the set or lens. Buying the black saves you the hassle of taping black gaff tape on them to cut the reflection. I'd own 2 more if my wife would let me.

[Aluminum] Wish I had bought these a lot sooner. I am very pressed for space and with these poles I not only have more space to do what I need to do but I eliminated 2 extra light stands and now just use my Advenger boom stand with the Autopoles.

[Aluminum] These are very well built and provide a solid base to attach lighting equipment in a variety of settings without having to permanently mount brackets. I combined several of these with manfroto boom arms in my studio to allow me to mount all of my strobes without having to use a single light stand. No cords or stands to trip over. This is a great option for a small studio space.

[7.5 lb] Short response is yes. If you want mobility both in studio and out get one. pick up IMPACT or MANFROTTO super clamps and some adaptors and your studio lights, soft boxes, LED lights and even camera mounting can roll with you. I am using my autopole with two GVM LED 50 RS mounted wall to wall overhead. Want to know more check out my overview video on: if the link does not work search this title... It's not recommended for overhead use but it has plenty of stability to handle these two LED light weight lights. The handle is spring loaded so it locks in place. The big improvement over Version One from what I can see online is the handle and mechanics. I will be getting another one possible two with the background kit.

[Black] The Deluxe Autopole is worth the extra cost than a 'regular' autopole. The Deluxe has a much better locking mechanism; it's designed extremely well and 'locks in' with more stabilization.

[Black] I just purchased my second one of the Manfrotto Autopole2. The first one was purchased a couple weeks ago. I love how they setup quickly and allow you to hang light fixtures in small spaces without needing to have light stands and they're legs spread out and taking up space and being a visual eyesore.

I used one to hang a Godox SL60 with 24-inch octabox on the corner of my desk for ZOOM meetings (see attached photo). Just for reference, the space between my wall and desk is 7-inches. This will illustrate how you can pop them in between small spaces. Maybe you live in a loft or have a studio with a pipe 6-inches away from a wall.. no problem if you wanna hang light there.. just pop-up an Autopole 2 (make sure you confirm the floor to ceiling height is within its operating range).

They allow you to avoid having light stands everywhere when you have sort of permanent fixtures that you don't move around.

Now don't get me wrong, these are not inexpensive when you consider that in order to HANG anything from these, you need Superclamps. You can purchase the Impact version or the Manfrotto versions for slightly more. I have both and they work to hold fixtures firmly to the pole.

What I love about these is the fast setup and takedown (should you need to) and when you need to keep lights in fixed places, you can just pop one of these up without the clutter and mess of tripod legs everywhere. Highly Recommended so far.
