[Glass] Took my photos with my 28-70 to the next level, it now lives on that lens and probably will forever. The 1/4 grade is absolutely perfect for everyday use. Will definitely be looking into different sizes for other lenses.

[0.135 lb] This was the one product that was not already in stock in the BH shop, but I was willing to take the chance and order it anyway-the product arrived about a week after the rest of my other items came. Looking through the lens with my naked eye onto direct light- I can see immediately the 4 point star effect! Can't wait to use this in my future photo shoots and cinematography projects.

[Glass] It holds 6-7 cards plus 4-5 notes. Easy to access any card you need while keeping the overall thickness very low. Like the design.

[0.135 lb] This filter performs as advertised. It has a quality finish and threads perfectly in my Nikon glass.

[Aluminum] Excellent build quality, filter turns super smooth and works great. Such a nice feature having 2 in 1.

[0.135 lb] I can't say enough about this north star filter. It really gives my images an over the top look, it catches the light from the smallest things and makes them into a beautiful star.

[0.135 lb] This filter was a pleasure to use. I find that it performs best in sunlight and dusk settings. I intended to use this with a mist filter; however, I found this star filter seems to naturally have a 10% mist effect that softens an image even when there are no light sources to create a star effect. I will say that if used after dark and in a city environment, the effect can be a quite strong and distracting.

[0.135 lb] I'm pleased with this lens filter. It has a niche use, but it's fun to experiment with.

[Aluminum] If you're looking at this filter you likely already know what it is for, and sure enough it does exactly what Tiffen say. Optical resolution drops down but contrast loss and halation are kept to an absolute minimum. Strangely, if you look at Tiffen's triangle of diffusion diagram you'll see they put this filter halfway between resolution reduction and halation, implying you will get some soft highlight spreading. You absolutely do not and I don't know why that particular diagram suggests it when all their text and videos say it doesn't cause halation and, as I said, in use it certainly does not.
Allegedly on wide-angle shots or when using very small apertures you may see the black dots in the image. I can't say I've noticed this myself, but I only use this for shoulder-up shots, typically 50mm, often at fairly wide apertures, so I'm not in that 'danger zone'. If you want to shot wide and stopped down, maybe take caution and check out the Digital Diffusion/FX instead, which is meant to cause the same resolution drop without the black dots getting in the way.

I've had some limited experience with some Tiffen filters having poorly-cut threads, but otherwise the construction quality has been fine. Can't guarantee you'll get a faultless one but the fault rate, in my experience, has at least been very low – about one out of twenty filters having an issue, and even then, not one severe enough to stop the filter from mounting and functioning.

[Glass] I bought this filter for HDSLR video use. The 1/2 grade provides a very subtle diffusion effect with minimal contrast loss. Ultimately, it takes the edge off of HDSLR video and provides a very close alternative to that elusive film look.
