Safely view or photograph the sun and solar eclipses through any camera or optic with a 75-100mm wide lens using this Celestron EclipSmart Solar Filter 75mm to 100mm Opticsfrom Celestron. Made with adjustable side panels that secure with a rubber band for a snug fit, the filter meets the ISO 12312-2 safety standard, blocking 99.999% of intense light and all harmful IR and UV radiation—but revealing sunspots and super granules on the solar surface and the corona during an eclipse. Made to fit on the front lenses of telescopes, spotting scopes, or other optics and imaging devices, the Universal Solar Filter can accommodate housings, sunshades, and dew shields with an outside diameter from 75-100mm (3-4"). The filter has a clear aperture of 63.5mm. The filter is not for use with optical viewfinders—do not use it if you aren't sure which kind of viewfinder your camera has. Always make sure this filter is placed directly on the camera lens during imaging, never between the viewfinder and your eye.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this fit STARSENSE EXPLORER DX 130AZ? Thanks in advance.

A: Yes. The Celestron EclipSmart White-Light Solar Filter for 127/130mm Reflector OTAs will fit the Celestron DX130AZ telescope.

Q: 2. What are the dimensions of the package?

A: Hi Manuel, The telescope box dimensions are: (LxWxH) 32.0" x 26.0" x 13.0" Sincerely, Garrett at Celestron

Q: 3. Can I use this on a Nikkor 200-500mm lens on a Nikon Z6?

A: The outside diameter of the Nikon 200-500mm lens is too large to fit the Celestron filter. You can use this Haida instead: https://bhpho.to/38vHAQw

Q: 4. cant it be used in Schmidt cassegrain telescopes? I am using c5 spottingscope . please clarify.

A: This Solar Filter is designed to work exclusively with the Celestron 127mm and 130mm reflector telescopes.

A: The diameter of the actual solar filter on the Celestron EclipSmart Universal Solar Filter is 63.5mm.

Q: 6. will this be useable on the celestron skymaster 15-70mm binoculars?

A: I do not recommend using the Celestron EclipSmart Universal Solar Filter for Optics 75mm to 100mm on the Celestron Skymaster 15x70 binoculars. Please follow the link below leading to a better alternative. https://bit.ly/3HLFgY6 I recommend using extreme caution while using any folded design filters on a windy day.

Q: 7. Celestron says “ Never use this filter if your camera has an optical viewfinder.” Does that mean to not use it on a Nikon D500?

A: Because the Nikon D500 viewfinder is looking through the lens that is filtered, it is safe to use the Celestron EclipSmart Universal Solar Filter for Optics 75mm to 100mm with your camera.

Q: 8. I currently have an Orion Spaceprobe 130 ST which I am just learning to use. I am taking an astronomy class which uses Celestron NexStar 5 SE scopes, which I really like. I am sure that I will be buying a NexStar in the next year. I really like the idea of the computer finding objects for me while I am learning the sky. Right now, I am trying to decide between a NexStar 6 or NexStar 8. My major interests are deep sky objects and binary stars. I am not interested in astrophotography. I know the major tradeoffs are aperture and portability. Any suggestions for me in guiding my choice?

A: Honestly I would go with the bigger aperture. Especially since you are going to be shooting some Astrophotography. Personally I would do the 8 Model. It's the better option hands down.

Q: 9. It is said that this requires 3 stars alignment , so after three stars aligned , does that mean it will go other objects on command or you still need to align it again other objects ?

A: No, once the telescope is aligned (3-star alignment is only one of the options, but there are others), you can ask it to go to other objects directly, either by using the app or hand controller.

Q: 10. Can you move the mount manually to locate objects ( like you would use o adob) and will it still be tracking the object afterwards? thank you

A: Hi,I didnt try that way, But, after calibrating it will take you to the object you are looking for with good accuracy, but you will need to recenter a little bit; then it will track the object keeping it always in the center of the eyepiece.

[0.075 lb] I put it together according to the very poorly written instructions, rubber banded to my new Celestron spotting scope and aimed the scope toward the sun and low and behold, I saw sun spots! This is very necessary piece of equipment for view the sun directly. Never look at the sun without proper eye protection.
My only complaint it the instructions are not very well written. But I figured it out.

[63.5 mm] I purchased this filter to be able to use my telescope on the solar eclipse. I've tested it and it seems to work as advertised. I got a clear image of the sun through the telescope with it and no worry about eye problems.

[63.5 mm] Worked perfectly fine for this year's eclipse, without having to buy a glass filter the exact right size. During totality, it had to quickly come off the lens, and that was relatively simple. Will I save it for another eclipse?

[63.5 mm] This is a great filter for the money. I have taken some pictures with it already just practicing for the eclipse and they have turned out great. If you aren't planning on doing a lot of solar photography this is a great cheap filter for you to use.

[0.075 lb] I bought this one getting ready for total eclipse this year. I practice with my Canon camera and took some simple sun pictures. Worked very well after I figured out how to use rubber band on camera after zoom was out. The real test will be in April.
