The VOCDOC-ISOMD Microphone Isolation Chamber from Auray is a fully enclosed microphone isolation chamber that effectively eliminates unwanted noises, reflections, and rumbles from your room for that crystal clear, clean, and tight professional iso-booth sound on your recordings. 1.6" thick high-density acoustic foam surrounds the interior of the durable, perforated aluminum shell. And the chamber door is outfitted with a double-layer pop filter for further protection from plosives and moisture.

The VOCDOC-ISOMD includes a movable and height-adjustable mic extender with a range of 3.5 to 5", making it easier to find the ideal position for your performance. With the 5/8"-27 stand adapter and four small-profile feet, you can mount the isolation chamber on most mic stands or directly onto your desktop. You also get four convenient holes on the bottom of the chamber for routing microphone cables.

Unlike shield-shaped iso filters that can let room noise make its way to your microphone, the VOCDOC-ISOMD is an isolation chamber. It surrounds your microphone and creates 360-degree isolation that eliminates unwanted audio reflections and echoes.

Total mic isolation will give your vocal or VO that iso booth sound without an expensive studio setup. This iso chamber eliminates all the extraneous room ambiance, echoes, and reflections of an untreated room that can degrade the quality of your audio. Use the VOCDOC-ISOMD to improve the production quality of your audio wherever you record.

The perforated shell is another part of the VOCDOC-ISOMD's design that ensures your vocals are clean and tight. The perforation lets the sound pass through, so it doesn't reflect back into the microphone and create unwanted noise and ambient sound.

This iso box surrounds your microphone with a 1.6" layer of high-density acoustic foam. This makes the internal space of the VOCDOC-ISOMD quiet and noise-free. Your vocals will sound like they were recorded in an acoustically treated studio.

With all this mic isolation, you don't want breath noise or mini explosions caused by p and b sounds degrading your audio. To ensure vocal plosives don't mar your vocals, you can adjust the mic height, so the double-layer pop filter sits right in front of your microphone's capsule. Your vocalist can lean in and sing or speak with total freedom. If you want to add a little air to your vocal or narration, just remove the filter.

If you're recording a podcast at your desk, or a singer using a mic stand, the VOCDOC-ISOMD will be right where you need it. The box is made with nonslip rubber feet for a desk or highly polished surface, and an adapter for mic stands.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would a Blue Yeti fit in this?

A: It would be a very tight fit on the Blue Yeti. I would consider using an Auray PFMU-12 Universal Wire Mesh Pop Filter with 12" Gooseneck (Matte Black), BH #AUPFMU12 with this mic, and an Auray RF-C12 Professional Desktop Isolation Filter (Gray), BH #AURFC12. These would pair well with the Blue Yeti.

Q: 2. Can this work with an SM7B? I want to place the front of the mic facing the opening, so it's not going to be standing straight up.

A: The only way the Shure SM7B would fit into this isolation chamber would be standing straight up, so it would not work in the manner that you require.

Q: 3. Does this work with a Lewitt LCT540?

A: No this Auray ISO-ARMOR-2 model will not work with the Lewitt LCT540 model.

Q: 4. What is the best mic stand for this?

A: There isn't really any one specific mic stand that is best for the ISO-ARMOR-2. It can be mounted on shorter desktop/tabletop stands and also on taller full-size floor stands. It's a matter of what works best for your application and the microphone your are using.

Q: 5. Does this help eliminate computer fan noise?

A: This would help to reduce fan noise from a pc. For best results, you would want to use this, spaced as far away from the pc as possible, with the rejection side of the mic facing the pc.

Q: 6. Will this work with the Procaster Mic?

A: No. This device is designed for a large diaphragm side address mic. The Procaster is an end address mic not meant for these types of filters.

Q: 7. Has anyone tried using this outdoors on a boom pole as an inexpensive and portable sound blimp, even though it obviously wasn't designed for that purpose?

A: I have not heard of anyone using the Auray Iso-Armor 2 as a windscreen for boom poles. Typically a shotgun microphone would take sound from primarily the front of the microphone and the Auray Iso-Armor 2 is made for side address mirophones and blocking out background noise. It is not made to be used as a windscreen like a blimp would.

Q: 8. the Auray ISO-ARMOR-2 Q & A works with a RODE k2 correctly?

A: I have a Rode K2 and it does fit inside.

Q: 9. Will a Shure SM7B on a stand fit inside this?

A: The Shure SM7B Vocal Microphone (BH #SHSM7B) will work inside the Auray VOCDOC-ISOMD Microphone Isolation Chamber (BH # AUVODOCISOMD).

Q: 10. Will this work on a desk anchored boom with "Heil FL-2", supporting an AT2035 mic? I'm aware that it would accommodate the mic but wonder about the weight on the swivel boom?

A: No. This will not work wth a broadcast arm. Regardless of weight it is not designed to be mounted in such a fashion.

[Female Thread] At first I was a little skeptical, but this brought my vocals to another level. The only problem I have is with the design. There’s no way to actually fix it to the mic stand, but if you did any research, you probably already know this. I did find a great way to make this work to my advantage. I might make a video about it. Small hack for a big fix. I definitely recommend it to anyone without proper room treatment. I’m satisfied!

[Female Thread] Great build quality. The upgrades allow more mic body types to be used. A little tricky with my AKG c314, because of its odd shape, but it worked. Nice upgrades from version one. Unbeatable price...

[8.98 lb] I have one of the massive isolation units, but it's so heavy I can't put it on the extendible arm at my desk. When I'm recording myself, it's much easier to sit at the console and sing, than move to a stand. This fits the bill. It's light enough that the arm attached to my desktop can hold it, and I love the fact that it surrounds the mic and has a built in pop filter. Much more effective with less hassles!

[Foam] The difference the ISO Armor-2 makes is just amazing. After struggling to build an acoustic space to record voiceover with only mixed results, this is a revelation. The amount of time it saves just in sweetening sound is post alone makes it a no brainer. Make sure it fits your mic (the B&H staff were great helping me with that), but then don't hesitate.

[Foam] I use this product for voiceover work and it’s very useful for audio quality because reduces noise and reflexión as any other product like that. But they’re builder needs to find a way to fit on any kind of stand.
Just yesterday I recommended to two others colleagues.

[Female Thread] Got it on deal zone. Better than the regular curved reflectors. Lightweight. Versatile. Thankful to have

[Female Thread] I was on the road traveling and didn't have time to wait for a Kaotica to be delivered. This seemed to be the perfect solution, 1/3 the price and I hear no difference in quality from the kaotic, and personally I like the look and feel of the metal over a plain foam ball. I'm very pleased with the results! Would definitely recommend.
