Q: 8. Will this work with an Epson V500?

A: Yes, I use it with a V550. Leave a little space (about 1/3 inch) between the top edge of the mask and the edge of the scanner (near the hinge) so the scanner can run its calibration. Also be careful to line it up straight. You can visually align it against background internal scanner parts like the guide rod for the scan head makes a good reference.

Q: 9. will this work with a canoscan 9000f?

A: The requirement by Lomography is that the scanner have a backlight. the Canon Scan 9000f has a backlight so we say you are good to scan.

Q: 10. Can this be used to scan panoramic photos? And is it possible to include the film sprocket holes in the scan?

A: You can scan 35mm panoramic film using the Plustek 35mm Negative Film Holder for OpticFilm 120. However, you will not be able to include the film sprocket holes in the scan.

[0.345 lb] Thrilled to add this to my Basic 35 MK2 carrier to scan my 110 film. Keeps my film flat for sharp results.

[0.345 lb] I recently got back into film and was shocked by how expensive lab scans are even at low resolution. Lower resolution TIFFs were about $14 a roll, but I was quoted $12 per image for high resolution TIFF scan. I went for the $14 scans but I could see the color and resolution were compromised, so I figured I would try doing it myself.

This is obviously a premium kit, and it took me a couple of hours to figure everything out - getting the correct height of the camera to fill the image frame, leveling things out - this takes a little time. I bought a 70mm Sigma APO Macro lens which made things a lot easier as it provides 1:1 magnification. All of the tools that come in this kit are high quality, and once you're set up scanning is a pleasure, and you get high quality, repeatable results.

Sure it takes up space, breaking it down is not ideal as then you need to set everything up again, but having a dedicated scanning setup if you shoot a decent amount is really nice. I bought the Valoi Easy35 which is basically a light source you mount on extension tubes to your lens, but the build quality is nowhere near as good as this Negative Supply Kit, and it is not as much fun to use. This NS setup is expensive, but the results you get, the build quality, and overall pleasure I get from using it is worth the money.

[0.345 lb] I'll confess that I'm a little odd in that I love shooting with small cameras. Smaller is better to my mind, and since I also love film, I happen to like shooting 110 cameras. This scanning mask makes it possible for me to order some Tiger film and put it through one of my 110 cameras with no fuss, then have it developed and bring it home. It fits -- more or less -- inside the medium-format mask for my Canon, but I prefer to sit it in the middle of the scanning glass and align it with an old floppy disk, which happens to be the correct length. The magnet system ensures the fidgety little 110 negatives stay flat against the mask while you scan, eliminating distortion.

[0.345 lb] I purchased an Epson Perfection V600 scanner and this scanning mask fits inside the medium flim strip holder. I just carefully removed the medium film strip flapper and the scanning mask fit perfectully inside making it easy to scan the 110 negatives. I have scanned over two hundred 110 negatives. Some of the negatives were warped and needed the magnetic system used when the negatives have curled up on the edges or are no longer flat. I will now be able to archive the negatives for our family.

[0.345 lb] I was actually shocked to find that anyone had made a scanning mask for 110 film, let alone one so attractive and functional. Before purchasing this, I was scanning my 110s (of which I have hundreds and hundreds of little 4 frame strips) directly on the glass, which allowed for distortion, or sandwiched under another pane of glass, which produced Newton rings about 60% of the time.

[0.345 lb] I use this with an Epson V800. Like another reviewer, I also use the medium format frame as a guide. I originally purchased one of these, however, if you have quite a bit of 110 to scan then I recommend buying two. I recently found an old shopping bag full of 110 negatives, so broke down and bought a second one. To use with Epson scan software, you will want to select regular preview rather than thumbnail and then select the frames yourself. Because it only holds one strip of around 6 frames (possibly 7) scanning with the Epson v series is pretty quick. However, after your 5 minutes of scanning you have to remove the other frames and refill and place back in the scanner. If you have two of these, you can load the next one while the other one is still scanning and that will help your workflow out a bit. When I'm scanning 35 mm, I try to edit in between, but, with 110 I find it works better to just load in between and keep on scanning. The item seems sturdy, the magnetic guide works great. I only wish it was wide enough to hold two or three strips of film. There are not many alternatives out there for scanning 110 that are practical for home use. I originally used a homemade cardboard mask, but, that was a nuisance. 110 is already pesky to work with, no reason to make it any harder. In conclusion, I highly recommend at least one if not two of these for the poor soul stuck scanning grocery store bags full of 110 negatives.

[0.345 lb] After having used this product I have found that it works great at holding the film to be able to scan the images. On the Epson V600 scanner, I had to cut a piece of chipboard and use it as a spacer, on the side, to have the film sit under the scanning light correctly. Once cut you can put this product in the same spot each time. Very easy to use and the focus is right on. I highly recommend this product and it is superior to the 35mm holder that came with the scanner.

I loved the look when I used to print in the darkroom, and am thrilled to be able to scan my film with borders now. This device keeps my film flat for sharp results, and includes helpful masks for various 35mm film sizes.
