Use this SmallRig Baseplate Sony a6700 Compact Camera Mountto add an Arca-Swiss plate to the bottom of your Sony a6700 and make your camera compatible with DJI RS series gimbals. The baseplate secures to the camera via a 1/4"-20 screw. Multiple threads on the bottom of the plate—five 1/4"-20 threads and one 3/8"-16 threads—offer pointing points for other tripod baseplates or mounting accessories. QD sockets and strap slots can accommodate QD shoulder straps or wrist straps. The design of the baseplate maintains access to the camera's battery port.

A: Yup! I was fairly certain it would fit (since the IV and V share a vertical grip), so I went ahead and ordered it. I was surprised since it actually fits better than the Sony vertical grip does. Feels natural on the camera, and the battery door opens fine.

[Arca-Type] Helps fit your pinky round the base of the camera. I don't have an arca swiss tripod yet, but I'll probably get one now that this is compatible. The extra weight is noticable, but it makes the camera feel very well balanced. More sturdy in a way. I think it's a worthwhile purchase. 5

[Arca-Type] What a perfect addition to the A6700 body. Gives you that pinky grip area. Is built so very solid allowing easy hookup to a Arca-Swiss mount on tripod or monopod. Very clever swing out arm to allow for easy access to one's battery as well. What a great design. 5

[QD] I wondered how this additional grip would work out. It adds a look and feel as if Sony intended it's use. A flawless fit. Great solid construction and finish. Adds just that little extra area for one's pinky if it hangs down with the naked camera body. The flip out portion allowing access to the battery surprised me but I figured it out. Very intelligent indeed. A no brainer addition to the A6700 for sure. 5

[Arca-Type] The plate works as expected. The 1/4-20 bolt that attaches the plate to the camera uses a flat head screwdriver. A very small flat head screwdriver is included which stows away on the bottom of the plate. I have twice fumbled and accidently dropped the screwdriver. While it is held in place with a magnet, it was no match for my clumsy fingers. Here is my suggestion. Switch to a 5/32 hex key compatible bolt. Why a 5/32 hex key bolt? Because Really Right Stuff, Kirk Photo, Wimberley and others use 5/32 keys for the bolts in their plates. It seems to be a standard and photographers probably already have a 5/32 hex key handy (In fact, they probably have a bunch of them). If you like my idea and already own this plate then I suggest ordering a B107: Custom Captive Button Head Screw 1/4-20 x 0.4 ($6) from Really Right Stuff (RRS). It easily swaps in for the bolt that SmallRig supplies. I like this SmallRig plate and the RRS bolt I now use with it. 5

[0.22 lb] Fits the a6700 perfectly, and gives just that little bit extra grip to make the camera more comfortable to hold. I also like the built in compatibility with Arca Swiss ball heads. 5
