[Yes] Main takeaways: 1. This bag definitely accommodates a 14 MacBook Pro in the front pocket (not the back), and 2, While this bag is slightly longer than most airlines' allowed dimensions for an under-seat 'personal item' I was able to fit it under the seat in front of me on all six international flight legs I just completed on a recent trip. I flew on Virgin Atlantic, easyJet, Eurowings, Ryanair, and TAP Air Portugal. See photos.

While it was a snug fit, I was able to travel with my Sony a7rII, with three lenses (Tamron 2.8/28-75, Samyang 35 f2.8, and Sony FE 28mm F2 + 21mm Ultra Wide Converter) along with laptop, cables, and accessories.

The shoulder straps are amazing and made the backpack very comfortable for extended journeys through European cities.


Lenses up to about 5 in length, but not more, will comfortably fit on end. For shorter trips I've also stowed my Sony 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 GM lens in the top compartment of the bag, but I wouldn't recommend this for air travel since it is not fully protected.


Highly recommend this pack for photography excursions involving air travel.

[Yes] This completes my Shimoda color combo (a black Explore V2, a green Action X 2, a teal Action X 2 and this, my largest Shimoda bag, in yellow). I have a 25L Shimoda, two 40L bags, and this 50L bag. The ability to use the deeper DSLR ICU with this bag, and the larger size, means it's my take everything and the kitchen sink bag, while just fitting in as a carry-on bag. I don't use it as often as my green 40L Action X v2, but when I do, I'm glad I have it. I can easily carry my Nikon Z8, 6 lenses (14-24, 105MC, 24-120, 100-400, 19PCE and 45PCE, plus filters (including a full set for the 14-24), cleaning supplies, chargers, extra cards, a 15.4 inch Dell XPS, my iPad Pro, writing supplies, headlamp, some snacks, jacket, tripod, water, with room left over. It carries comfortably for what it holds, and I've hiked 8+ miles with it with no issues, and at 63 years old, that's pretty good.

[Yes] I just got home from a 2 week trip to Chamonix, France where this backpack served as my carry on luggage, hiking backpack, and day pack. It's been everywhere between sea level and about 12,000 feet in elevation, dragged across airports, dragged across rocks, subject to rain, heat, and wind - and snow snowballs - and it looks as good as the day I took it out of the box!


Things I especially love:
- Fits my 5'2 female self. I've been photographing for 20+ years and this is truly the first bag I've ever found that feels like it wasn't designed for a 6' tall dude.
- Made for adventure. I'll be able to use this on backcountry ski adventures (it even has a helmet, ski, and snowboard carry system!!!) and will absolutely continue to use it for hiking. It's reinforced with all the right materials in all the right places.
- Incredibly well thought out functionality and design. Super easy to get to my camera gear, but keep it safe and hard for any less-than-honest passerby's to get at. Also one of the front chest pouches can fit a passport AND an iPhone 13/14.

[Yes] I used an older version of the Shimoda for 4 years before getting this one. I absolutely love this bag and the subtle improvements they made, especially the roll top design.

[Zipper] This bag feels great and I can load all my gear and more. I have loaded my Z6 w/ L-bracket and my 24-120 f4. I carry a med kit and can take my light puff winter jacket in a stuff sack, rain pants in a sack and my rain jacket and I still have room. Good size since I travel to Asian once in awhile.

[Yes] After years of searching I think I finally found the perfect bag for me. I started with a PD Everyday V1 bag which I disliked for many reasons, most of which being comfort and the fact that my gear felt like it was never well protected. I then moved over to the Lowepro Freeline 350 which was really good but definitely had its quirks, and lacked quite a few features overall. I recently started the search again and the Wandrd Prvke came up quite a bit. I ended up giving the 21L a shot and have to say I really hated a lot about that bag. The roll top was a pain, the side access was extremely tight and cumbersome (not to mention on the left), and the bag was very uncomfortable.

I had seen the Shimoda on some reviews, but initially didn't look further into it because I thought it might be too Landscape-y and I thought they only offered a 30L. I was really after a more urban, smaller size backpack that I could use as an everyday carry and then take on some trips as well. After more research and looking at other pics, I fell in love with the design and it is great in person. I ended up buying the Wandrd Prvke premium straps in orange and figured I'd keep them, and they work super well on the bag to make it a bit more urban.

Overall the bag has everything I could ask for. Fits all my gear perfectly, I set up the cube so the side access works flawless even with my A7IV 35mm GM and RRS L Bracket attached. The bag is extremely comfortable with the stock straps, but I opted to buy the Simple Straps so the huge phone pockets etc didn't get in the way, and I could use a PD Capture Clip. I highly recommend the bag and it has so many well thought out features that I am very impressed with.

[Zipper] I gave it three stars due to my own user error. Once I realized my error, not Shimoda's error, I had B&H remove the old review. I'm making it right. This bag is wonderful!! Great quality, fits my equipment wonderfully, fits on my back extremely well, carries nicely, and looks great. A wonderful bag I fully would recommend to you.

[Yes] I really like this bag. It fits great and have all the features I need. It also fits a large mirrorless core that holds my Sony 200-600 lens.

[Yes] Just returned from 1st trip with this bag. Completed 5+ mile hike at the Grand Canyon with fully loaded pack. More comfortable than I ever dreamed. I am 5'2 and 115 lbs and pushing 70 years old. With all of the available adjustments, it was easy to get this bag to fit my frame and not be cumbersome. It was more expensive than most bags but well worth it. Thank you Shimoda for creating a bag built for a woman!
