A: According to the information we have, our current inventory's Country of Origin is Taiwan. Please be aware this can change over the product's production life without notice.

Q: 6. Will this fit the Rode NTG5 ?

A: The W 140 foam windscreen is designed for use with the Schoeps CMIT5U and MiniCMIT microphones which both have a 21mm diameter while the NTG5 has a 19mm diameter, so the windscreen may be too loose. The W 140 is 5" long and the diameter for compatible microphones is listed as 41 to 50mm (Schoeps has confirmed that this information for the diameter measurement is correct, though it does seem unusual). We have not tested the W 140 on the NTG5. Since the chroma green W 140 is a special order item that is not returnable, you may want to hold off and test out one of the black or blue W 140 windscreens first, which are eligible for return. You may also want to try contacting Rode to ask if they have a chroma green foam windscreen available that will fit. You can reach Rode by phone at 562-364-7400. Their US offices are based in California.

Q: 10. Will this fit and replace the Sennheiser 416 windscreen?

[Matte Gray] I use an array of CMC1 mics with Omni, wide and regular cardioid to capture multiple stereo imaging options simultaneously. I use the Grace 66 cm SpaceBar with multiple mounts on it. The stereo bar has 5/8-27 (standard US) mic mounts only. But the Rycote uses the 3/8-16 (more commonly used in EU). The brass adapter is provided (as seen in the product image), but it does raise the mounts an additional 2 cm. It would be nice if these were instead default 5/8-27 thread with an internal adapter for the 3/8-16, because then the installed height would be the same for either thread option. This is a minor gripe, but not trivial when trying to keep an inconspicuous low-profile of the mic bar.

The compliance of the mount is a perfect match for the CMC1, completely eliminating conducted noise from the stand reaching the mics (like foot-thumping on the stage when the mic-stand is on the stage - big problem with the rigid factory mounts that come with the Schoeps mics).

Given the really small bodies of the CMC1, I would not recommend using a standard XLR connector with this combination: the weight of the connector and cable will distort the mounts, and reduce the effectiveness of the shock-mount. I made custom cables using Cable Techniques low-profile right-angle XLR (BH #CACTBX3FR), and Mogami W2697 thin cable (BH# MOW2697164BK) which fits perfectly in the strain-relief on the Rycote mount. The cable capacitance is higher than standard mic cable, but for only a 20' length - it is far below the driving limit of the mics, so no worries about HF attenuation.

Be careful how you store these, as if they are stored for long periods in a deformed-position, they take a while to straighten-out again. These are the best shock-mounts I have found - I use a similar model for the Neumann KM-184 as well.

[3 mA (Maximum)] The new CMC1 is great, super small, awesome for gigs. I have it for only 2 weeks, but the few times I used I was very happy!

[Matte Gray] Scheops newest shotgun mic and the 3rd member of the CMIT family. Has the CMIT sound minus the filter options but makes up for being versatile with its small size. Great mic!

[Matte Gray] Bought these to use with my newly acquired Sonorous Objects SO.101 and SO.103 microphones, and they fit well. I am using a normal length XLR connector, but a shorty might fit as well.

[3 mA (Maximum)] Can never fault these microphones, but wish the case had cut outs for the included clips included like the standard stereo set does.

[3 mA (Maximum)] Schoeps says that there's no discernible difference in sound quality, but when I heard this one, I put my CMC6 up for sale immediately.

The higher SPLs do make a difference; and to my ear the CMC1 has a more clean and transparent sound to it. I know that sounds lame, but it's hard to describe. This CMC1 is amazing.

HIGHLY recommended.

[3 mA (Maximum)] All my go to microphones for field location audio are first and foremost Schoeps. I have a pair of Schoeps cmc641s and snagged a cmit5u when it was first introduced. I was in the market for adding a second cmit5u and saw that the miniCMIT had just been released. So glad I waited for this newer version. It's size makes it incredibly versatile in tight locations. It's lighter in weight than its big brother (cmit5u) but has the same sonic quality. The only thing you give up on the mini model is some of the filter options. I've used this on multiple shoots and interviews and it is a stellar microphone. The one thing I appreciate most about Schoeps microphones is the overall lack of coloration. Once I'm back in my studio listening to playback I can close my eyes and it's like the talent is sitting there right next to me speaking clear, uncolored, natural audio. That being said there is a lot of buzz about Schoeps microphones being susceptible to humidity causing the mic to motorboat. I have only had this happen once with my cmit5u in an extremely humid interior interview. For that reason I highly recommend you always have on hand a microphone that is impervious to humidity and moisture (Rode NTG-3, Sennheiser MKH 50, Sennheiser MKH 416 or whatever you prefer). But otherwise all my Schoeps have performed well in some very humid environments. If I were headed to the Amazon Rain Forest or somewhere incredibly wet and humid I would leave all my Schoeps at home and go with a sure thing that could endure that much moisture. And yes, there are times I will choose another mic for very specific reasons dictated by the room or the talent's voice, but otherwise I'm swinging a Schoeps on my pole at least 95% of the time. Money well spent.

[Matte Gray] I use a pair of these for my MS setup(cmc1’s, mk8, mk22). When these were released in 2019 it was welcomed with open arms. I went from a 13” to 6.7” Rycote windshield. Amazing! Size and weight is a big deal for me as I hike to my locations and I carry the mentioned MS setup plus an ORTF(2 ccm4’s). They perform excellent as expected and they draw less battery power than the CMC6. I had no reason to not own a pair.
