Audio professionals in search of a quality SSL-style VCA compressor will be impressed with the black TK Audio BC501-GR, a 500-Series stereo bus compressor with a smooth, yet powerful sound for both mixing and tracking. The BC-501 is often referred to as "The Magic Glue" as its transparent compression strengthens mixes without compromising clarity.

The BC501-GR offers some notable features such as the built-in blend control for parallel compression techniques as well as a switchable HPF (80, 150, 220 Hz) for sidechaining. A 3.5mm external sidechain input allows other signals, such as a kick drum, to trigger the compressor. A THD circuit provides even-ordered harmonics for warm saturation and a bigger-than-life sound. All controls are stepped for fast and easy recall.

[+27 dBu] If you have an audio system that is capable of displaying the difference, these are much above the $19 version of this tube. I have a Magnum Dynalab MD809t internet tuner that features a 4-tube push-pull output which came equipped with the lesser-costing version of this tube; after replacing them with the Black Diamond series I hear a distinct difference in audio quality. It's nice to get back to the warmth and depth of sound that distinguishes tubes from transistors. With these Black Diamonds there is no tube hiss or hint of distortion -- it's vintage wine for the ears!

[-90 dB] I know these tubes have no comparison to the original Telefunken tubes. I still really like them.

[50 Ohm] My 1991 Peavey AMR T-9000 tube microphone has always had a Peavey 12ax7 in it...and it sounds good. However, I'm always curious what other tubes sound like in it. I have tried several different tubes and been disappointed every time. Muddy, too bright, too noisy...none were as good for this mic as the Peavey...until I tried this Telefunken. OMG...my mic came alive in a way that I could have never imagined. Warm, clean, loud and low noise. I highly recommend this tube !

[+26 dBu] These are awesome tubes, if you’re looking to warm up your sound with big low end and smooth mids and highs, this is warm up galore. Very colored, great for tracking. These went on a ART PRO VLA II, and they did loads of justice. Dont forget to get a matched pair for stereo recording. Using with drums, keyboards, acoustic guitars, voice

[50 Ohm] This compressor punches way above its weight (considering the cost). Great unit for subtle, clean compression. I use mine to ‘glue together’ the final mix in Really Nice mode.

[95 dB] I used these tubes as replacements in my TL Audio PA-2 Preamp/DI and the difference in sound was huge. More defined and musical. So far used for drum overheads with KM184s and Bass DI and I was very happy with the results. I was surprised there was such a noticeable difference.

[-90 dB] Killer quality and sound. It definitely widens the stereo field a bit. The transformer button wont be for everyone. I tried it on the 2 track and didnt like it, but gave it a go on the bass buss and yeah dude big time.

[-90 dB] The WA76 is not supposed to sound exactly like the modern UA 1176LN as another review has highlighted. The WA76 is an exact replica of the Urei 1176 revision D that was produced in the early 1970s. The current UA 117LN is an amalgamation of revisions C, D, & E. These revisions have minor differences in circuitry dealing with low noise and distortion. The WA76 and UA 1176LN are essentially the same beast, but since they are produced with slightly different circuitry designs, one will hear very subtle sonic variations between the two. Which one you like more is a matter of preference.
