The Ocean Way Audio HR5 is a single, active two-way reference speaker designed to provide highly accurate monitoring with 100° horizontal dispersion for an ultrawide sweet spot, making it well suited for use in home and project studios for production, mixing, and mastering applications. Created by legendary speaker designer Allen Sides, the HR5 provides precise imaging and components that deliver a ±1 dB matching performance over a wide 45 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range.

A unique dual/hybrid waveguide system based on the speakers at Ocean Way Recording and engineered using 3D modeling ensures accurate, wide-frequency dispersion over a remarkable 100 x 40° pattern. In the mixing environment, this ensures consistent stereo imaging and accurate tonal qualities and balance throughout the room, not just in the ideal mixing position between two monitors. Milled from solid blocks of wood, the constant directivity horns for the HF and mid bands are non-resonant for greater efficiency with less distortion, even at high volume levels.

A 125W amp powers the 7" low-frequency driver, which features a light cone and aluminum voice coil to deliver a fast transient response. The high frequencies are handled by a 1" silk dome tweeter powered by a 90W amp. With a 110 dB peak output level, the HR5 delivers plenty of power for loud mixing sessions. XLR analog and digital inputs are provided and the speaker supports resolutions up to 24-bit / 192 kHz.

Q: 1. Is the Pakt Travel Backpack (Forest, 35L) version 1 or 2?

A: The Pakt Travel Backpack (Forest, 35L) is version 2.0.

Q: 2. What happens when you attach an XLR on right channel, and either: two mono 3.5 mics on the left & right; or one stereo plug mic?

A: Only one source each should be connected to the Beachtek DXA-MAX's Left and Right inputs. Connecting multiple sources to one channel will cause phase issues and a loss of audio quality.

Q: 3. What is the life of battery? Since the battery is not removable or replaceable - what happens when it no longer keeps a charge?

A: If there is a problem with the built-in rechargeable battery on the Beachtek DXA-MAX 2-Channel Active Audio Adapter, you should contact the manufacturer for assistance. Although the battery is not user replaceable, the manufacturer will be able to replace it. The manufacturer has not provided any details for the life expectancy of the battery and it will vary based on use and the environmental conditions where it is used, but it should last for many years.

Q: 4. Is this audio adapter compatible with the Sony HXR-MC2500 Camcorder?

A: Yes, the Beachtek DXA-MAX is compatible with any camera that has a 3.5mm microphone input.

Q: 5. Can this monitor be used in Singapore (220V) power system?

A: These monitors are for 110 voltage. A step- down voltage transformer would be required, such as the Sevenstar ST-100 Step Up/Step Down Transformer (100W), BH #SEST100UD.

Q: 6. Would the arm be compatible with the HP Omen27i monitor? Not sure if this arm can also rotate forty-five degrees.

A: The Dell MSA20 Single Monitor Arm BH #DEMSA20 features a 100 x 100mm VESA Mount and will support up to 22 lbs. It will tilt from -35° to 80° and swivels & rotates 180°. The HP OMEN 27i can be VESA mounted (100mm X 100mm only).

Q: 7. Can this be used with Nikon Z8 camera?

A: Yes, the Beachtek DXA-MAX 2-Channel Active Audio Adapter for DSLR can be used with any camera that has a 3.5mm microphone input jack.

Q: 8. How many speakers come in box

A: That price is for one monitor.

[Horizontal] I use the ADAM A8X speakers with my Korg Chronos X keyboard and am amazed at its performance so I knew the A7X would be perfect for a center channel speaker in my surround sound system. This is perfect for vocal clarity and I am not disappointed. Yup I give it a full thumbs-up!

[45 Hz to 20 kHz] I had some experience with the earlier generation Adam A7. The new A7X model features some very nice improvements. Where the old A7 seemed to be a little subdued in the 40hz range, the A7X goes down to 40 without difficulty and shows signs of audio as low as 28-30hz. It is hard to beat the ribbon tweeters for clarity and stereo imaging. While I do tracking in a pro studio, I purchased a pair of A7Xs for my home setup where I can do editing and basic automation. I am tempted to take these speakers into the pro studio and try some detailed mixing. They are portable and just the right size for me.

[45 Hz to 20 kHz] My brother owns a recording and I ask him for advice, without hesitate He told Me Adam Audio. He owns several models over on his studio. And the SOUND QUALITY IS OUTSTANDING.

[Single Monitor] Side by side comparison to ADAM speakers revealed these are the best speakers on the market. They have very clear and big bass. And they have very clear mids and highs. If clarity and low end boom and bass clarity is your thing, then these speakers are the best you will find in the music store. They are better than ADAM Audio speakers in a side by side comparison the rep took me thru, it was close with ADAM being second, but after listening to the EVE SC208s, the ADAMS started to sound just a little more muffled than when I first heard them before hearing the EVE SC208s, and EVE SC208 gave off a big clear, defined, tight bass that was better than ADAM's. Surprisingly the budget Mackie MR8 MK3 kinda came in close third place in all the test. Mackie has bass too and pretty clear mids in the MK3 series only, but EVE's are the best of all on the shelf music store monitors. They are the most expensive tho, so you know why, but you get what you pay for. If you want the monitor with the biggest baddest clearest bass and mids and highs that are not fatiguing at long periods of time, then you will have to pay the cost to be the boss with these.

[45 Hz to 20 kHz] I used to install mid to high end home theater and whole house audio in my college days. I've been exposed to good sound, but can't say I'm an expert like someone devoted to that alone. To my ear, these speakers sound great. Depending on the music or whatever, they move serious amounts of air and are totally clear while they do. I have them set to half volume, at the detent and use my new UR44 audio interface for volume control. I can only handle about 3/4 of max volume, but even at that volume they still sound wonderful. These are 150W each, and I've seen speakers that are twice that much power. I assume they're made for bigger spaces and not just a couple of feet from your head because I can't imagine how loud those could get! And I like loud! 150W is enough, to be sure. The footprint was bigger than I expected. I probably should have laid it out ahead of time. My family freaked out a bit in astonishment. I had to clear of my desk and get a little table setup as a return to my left to put books and papers on, as there is now no room for anything else on my desk. Time for a new desk anyway. I have them sitting on the medium sized Auray pads and they're a good fit, I suppose. A little larger in each dimension than necessary. If I can find a bandsaw, I may cut them down a bit. But I think the small ones would have been too small. Anyway, great speakers.

[110 dB (Peak)] These monitor speakers, although pricy, are very well suited to mixing and editing in protools for a studio either at home or in a formal studio setting. They are transparent with a very flat sound that does not emphasize any particular aspect of the frequency spectrum. Flat sound as used here is a good thing. The bass is surprisingly strong in my editing room which only about 8' x 10'. I did add a subwoofer for frequencies below 50Hz. The highs are exceptionally clear and the midrange very smooth. These speakers are very easy on the ears even after several hours editing. I highly recommend them. I use them mainly to edit recording of live theatrical musical performances.

[Single Monitor] A music producer I know recommended Adam A7x7's for my home recording studio. I had been using the classic Yamaha NS 10M studio monitors and always thought they were awful ( even though I knew if I could make something sound good on them, it would sound good on any speakers). I also did a lot of comparative research, which also convinced me to go for the Adam AX7x7s. Glad I went with them. They are great and I couldn't be happier.
