A: The connectors may all fit together but HDMI uses a signal to detect if there is anything connected to it. The HDMI to DVI adapter carriers that signal through. Going DVI to VGA may not carry the signal through. You may want to try using adapters separatley on something else to see if they all actually work. If they do then it is probably a signal issue.

A: Hi , I use this to connect my apple cinema display DVI-D in my Mac via Bluetooth.The DVI-D transmit only Digital Signal and DVI-I transmit Both (Digital and Analog).The digital signal is passed in both DVI-I and DVI-D, a DVI-D male connector can be used with either DVI-I or DVI-D females. A DVI-I male connector, though, can only be used with a DVI-I female.I Hope this helps.

[6' / 1.8 m] I have a new Apple M1 Mac mini and an Apple Cinema Display. This is the ONLY CABLE you need to connect them together (assuming you already have the associated power brick & its cables). For about $15 you can use an old reliable monitor with the newest M1 Mac mini. I tried 3 or 4 other cables (spending about $200) from B&H in addition to other retail/online sellers - none of them worked. This cable does the job 5

[6' / 1.8 m] When attempting to connect more than 2 monitors to the new mac pro 2013 (trashcan model) only 2 passive monitor connectors can be used. This is an active connector that does work to add a 3rd or 4th monitor. Note there is a bug in Mac OS 10.9.3 that does not show the 3rd or 4th monitor. Apple is addresssing that issue :( But it does work in 10.9.2. 5
