Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the center column (or, at least the first “stage” of the column) grooved to prevent rotation? Thanks!

A: The center column of this tripod is not grooved.

Q: 2. What is the minimal width of tripod in the folded state (as if it's packed in a bag as compact as possible)?

A: We would say approximately 3 to 3 1/2".

Q: 3. Which country is this made in?

A: This tripod is manufactured in China.

Q: 4. Would this tripod securely hold an x-t1 with a 100-400mm lens?

A: Yes, this tripod is suitable to hold a Fuji X-T1 with a XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens.

Q: 5. Can the legs be disassembled for cleaning and maintenance, especially after using on the beach?

A: Yes, the Benro FSL09CN00's legs/twist locks can be disassembled for maintenance! :)

Q: 6. Is this available in legs only? I don't want the head.

A: I'm sorry, no, this only comes with a head.

Q: 7. Does one of the legs come out to become a monopod, as shown on the last product picture? Neither the overview nor the specifications say that.

A: The leg is removable to become a monopod.

Q: 8. what is the weight?

A: The tripod weighs 2.47 pounds.

Q: 9. What's the difference between this and the TSL08CN00? Seem pretty similar.

A: The FSL09CN00 folds down smaller using the reverse-fold method, and the TSL08CN00 does not. The TSL08CN00 is slightly sturdier because of its single-section center column (vs a 2-section) and its 4-section legs (vs a 5-section), but the folded length is 20.1" instead of 12.9".

Q: 10. Does this come with everything you need to use the auto-leveling feature? Or is that an additional purchase?

A: No, the self-leveling function of the Benro Theta Max Self-Leveling Carbon Fiber Heavy-Duty Travel Tripod (67") requires a special battery module. This would use the Benro Battery Module for Theta Tripods, BH #BETHETABATT (https://bhpho.to/466hhNc).

[Yes] The head can be detached and one of the legs comes off to make a monopod, in case you need that. After carefully evaluating all other options in BH, this one and the aluminum version had the best combination of max height, compactness when folded, light weight, and price. The aluminum version is significantly cheaper and only a bit heavier, so it's perhaps an even better deal. I'm hoping to take this one for long hikes, so I got the slightly lighter carbon fiber version. If I were taking this primarily in a car, weight would not have been an issue and I may have gone with a tripod that can be extended higher.

[Auto-Leveling] Purchased two years ago. Used numerous times although I consider it lightly used. Works smoothly as new. Not quite as stable as a regular tripod that doesn't have legs that invert when folding for extra compactness. But it's within my expectations.

[5] Stable, light, perfect for an ultra small tripod on long hikes. Getting a spare PU30 base plate may be an issue, but I am willing to tolerate it for the portability. I am very pleased with the product for my intended use - ultra portable.

[Carbon Fiber] Traveled with this 2x now and couldn't be happier. I've used for Milky Way shots and long exposure shots on a Fuji X100F. The tripod is so lightweight - don't quote me but I think my full water bottle weighs more as a reference point.

Bullhead is smooth and everything locks into place well. Legs open and close easily.

In terms of stability, I've had no issues. I'll caveat that I have not tried using on a windy day. I also tend to keep last section of legs collapsed. They seem sturdy enough if needed, but definitely more secure not extended.

If you have a lighter set up, travel often, and want a great tripod, I highly recommend!

[5] This seems like it will fit the bill nicely. Ive played with it at home a bit, and it seems to check all the boxes. It extends high enough that I dont have to slouch (Im 6 1). Its nice and light. It folds down to fit into my backpack. Setup seems pretty quick.
With the hook to hang a bag (or some kind of weight) on the center column it should be sturdy enough.
