The OWC 20TB Mercury Elite Pro External Hard Drivefrom OWC 20TB Mercury Elite Pro External Hard Drivefeatures a compact and shock-resistant design with a 3-year limited warranty to ensure it stays functional and keeps your data safe. Inside its enclosure is a 3.5" SATA hard drive with a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, transfer rates of up to 300 MB/s, and a capacity of 20TB, so you'll have plenty of space to save your favorite music, photos, and movies.

The Mercury Elite Pro contains a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (3.1 Gen 1/3.0) port (which is also backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1), an eSATA port, and two 9-pin FireWire 800 ports (backwards compatible with FireWire 400 using an optional adapter). Along with a USB-B to USB-A cable, the Mercury Elite Pro also comes with Firewire 1394B 9-Pin to 9-Pin and eSATA cables.

A: Technically it will work, but you will only get the lesser of two capacities. In this case, you would lose 1TB. This is the same with any RAID device, unless specifically stated otherwise with a unique software RAID such as "beyond RAID".

Q: 10. I have several FireWire drives. I want to mount one at a time to this drive to transfer content. I would need to use the USB port to connect to my Mac Mini to make this transfer with Carbon Copy Cloner

A: It is not possible to mount a FireWire drive connected to the OWC 16TB Mercury Elite Pro External Hard Drive to a Mac over a USB host connection. In order to daisy chain a Firewire drive, you will need to connect the OWC Mercury Elite Pro to your Mac over Firewire.

[20 TB] I'm doing simple 4K editing on two of these drives (12TB) in Premiere and Final Cut, and so far they function as quickly as any other hard drive I've worked with. And they're massively quieter than my OWC ThunderBay 4 RAID drives. As long as they don't die on me, I'm totally happy with them! 5

[20 TB] I like the on/off switch, so I can turn it off when not in use for backups. The exterior metal housing stays cool, and the drive is quiet. The front lights up so you know when it's working. But the light is not overly bright to distract you. 5

[65 G / 2.0 ms] So far a great hard drive. An easy plug and play on my Mac. My last drive a Fantom only lasted for two years (with a one year warranty). So I was very happy to see the three year warranty that this came with. 5

[4.385 lb] I am a professional videographer and editor and my editing system is set up so I can fly effortlessly on it. However, because some of my peripherals are supported by older OS it is difficult to find external drives that are supported by an older OS as well as still have FW800 ports. OWC ticked both boxes so I bought an 8TB version hoping that it will have enough space to last a couple of years. I just finished editing a 2-month editing project with about 300GB of greenscreen, video of different codecs and a fair amount of compositing. The drive has performed flawlessly. I wanted to dock it one star because this thing is noisy...disconcertingly so. I was backing everything up every day to other drives in case this one crashed. If I moved the drive slightly, the vibrating noise would go away but come back. After a while, I realized the drive was not going to crash but never got used to all the buzzing and humming. I gave it 5-stars regardless of the noise because while all the other manufacturers assume all us users buy a new computer system every year, OWC realizes that there are a lot of older systems still out here being used and making money despite ever-tighter profit margins so kudos to them for that! 5

[36.00 W] Solid enclosure with decent ventilation. Has a proper, full size USB connector (not one of the flimsy mini/micro connectors that can snap easily). Has an actual on/off switch (so it won't just randomly turn on/off if you connect/disconnect it but don't actually want to change whether it's on/off...). Relatively quiet, and comes with rubber feet to isolate from vibrations/bumps of whatever it's sitting on. 5
