The Sony E-mount Sirui 35mm T2.9 1.6x Anamorphic Lens Sony Efrom Sirui 35mm T2.9 1.6x Anamorphic Lens Sony Eproduces a wider look equivalent to a 22mm spherical full-frame field of view. Suitable for capturing architecture, landscapes, and confined spaces, this lens features rich detail, cinematic, oval bokeh, and artistic lens flairs. This lens produces horizontal blue streaks when pointed at a light source, giving your footage a dreamy or science fiction aesthetic. An image captured in 16:9 is de-squeezed to an anamorphic 2.8:1 aspect ratio, whereas shooting in 3:2 yields a 2.4:1 final image.

A key aspect of anamorphic lenses is oval bokeh, which can gently distort objects and lights in the distance, providing an abstract background for your actors. Its T2.9 aperture produces a shallow depth of field, blurring everything in front or behind the specifically chosen focal plane. This lens incorporates a 1/4"-20 mounting thread and has cine-style geared focus and aperture rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Any recommendations for a de-squeeze monitor that I can use while shooting with this 75mm full frame anamorphic 1.6x lens?

A: Atomos, Blackmagic Design, SmallHD, and TVLogic monitors support anamorphic desqueeze.

Q: 2. Is this lens sharp enough for 4K or 8K cameras?

A: The following unit is good up to 6k I would follow up with manufacture to confirm 8k compression.

Q: 3. Is there an adapter that will work with the 24mm and 50mm versions of the lens - what prevents the 35mmm from being used with the 50mm as stated in a previous answer?

A: There is no adapter as of now that will convert the Sirui 24mm anamorphic lens from MFT to Sony E mount, however the Sony E-mount version of the 24mm lens can be purchased.

Q: 4. Tell me please. If I buy with a Nikon mount, is it possible to convert it to Sony? 1 lens for 2 cameras

A: You would need the Sony E-Mount lens and then an adapter like this one: MEETZ21

Q: 5. So if I buy the MFT version - I use. replace the adapter on the back with this one and can use it on the Sony right? With cameras like the A7S III which have no cropped mode for 4K can I use clear image zoom? Thanks.

A: Yes you will be able to use this lens on Sony E Mount cameras. You will need to shoot in APS-C mode since this lens covers Micro Four Thirds/APS-C sensors.

Q: 6. hi i am using this lens for still photography? does now one know the 'desqueeze' ratio? i tried 1.6 but it doesnt work. 1.33 ratio seems to work fine. but can anyone say what is the recommended desqueeze ration? i use Leica SL2S and the L mount version of the full frame 75mm thanks Best Kannan

A: For best results content needs to be captured in 16:9 and then de-squeezed to an anamorphic 2.8:1 aspect ratio. we suggest the following compression 35 mm - 4K (16:9) 3840x2160 pixels (Sensor range: 6000 x 3368 pixels) 35 mm - Full HD (16:9) 1920x1080 pixels (Sensor range: 6000 x 3368 pixels)

Q: 7. Is Sirui 50mm T2.9 Full Frame 1.6x Anamorphic Lens (Leica L) compatible with panasonic lumix Bgh1?

A: No, the Panasonic BGH1 uses a Micro Four Thirds mount.

Q: 8. Is the lens a true "front anamorphic", or some other optical anamorphic design?

A: The Sirui 50mm T2.9 Full Frame 1.6x Anamorphic Lens is a true Front Anamorphic lens.

Q: 9. Will this adapter also work with the Sirui 50mm MFT lens? Will the sensor coverage be reduced.

A: This is for the 35mm lens only. It will not work with the 50mm lens from Sirui.

Q: 10. What's the outer diameter of this lens for mattebox use?

A: The Sirui 50mm T2.9 Full Frame 1.6x Anamorphic Lens (Sony E) lists a max diameter of 88mm.

[10] The results of the Anamorphic lens on the R5c are amazing. The lens has the right amount of sharpness. The bokeh and the lens flares add a nice look to your film. I plan on buying the 75mm version when it is released :)

[82 mm x 0.75] This lens is awesome, and produces clean images with real cinematic effects. I have the entire set (35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, 135mm, 150mm plus the 1.25 adapter that produces a 2x squeeze when paired with the 1.6x anamorphic squeeze of the lenses). The lenses produce uniform colors all throughout the set, and images are sharp wide open at T2.9. Somehow SIRUI has managed to make these primes sharp wide open, but not too sharp, given you that movie like look without any diffusion filters on the front of your lens. If you haven't tried the anamorphic look, you have no idea what your projects are missing. As result of purchasing this set, my G Masters and spherical Cine primes are collecting dust. The SIRUI 1.6x T 2.9 Venus Anamorphic lenses are a great set of glass.

[35mm] Excellent budget anamorphic lens. It works exceptionally well with my Sony A7sIII full frame camera. The Viltrox DC-X3 on camera monitor just complements the whole setup. It has exec 1.6 de-squeeze factor to help you compose every shot.

[T2.9] Surprisingly amazing little anamorphic lens. Sharp & full of character when paired with the Red Komodo.

[82 mm x 0.75] .I would characterize myself as an amateur filmmaker, or at least a serious hobbyist, who has had no experience with cinematic lenses. This lens was an absolute blast to experiment with. It's a solidly built metal body, with smooth-turning geared focus and aperture rings. It is manual focus, but with the use of focus peaking, very sharp images can be achieved. Not coming from a cinema background, T-stops are a bit mysterious to me, but the wide T2.9 aperture (which I've read is roughly equivalent to f2.1) allows lower ISOs in low light conditions. A nice bonus is the inclusion of a lens pouch. For an example from my first shoot with this lens, visit https://youtu.be/462z64lIzUc. I look forward to playing much more with this fun lens.

[T2.9] Few people understand what does it mean anmorphic , with this full frame anmorphic you can enjoy with really depth of field as 50mm and wide view as wide angle after De-Squeeze

This is a sharp lens , with videos gears like a high class but there is a disadvantage in the not correct horizon level in the corners , but i can accept that in this lens price , it is like a gift from suriu .

With 8k you can crop and get the good video , so its highly recommend if you have 8k or 6k
