Offering extensive perspective and focus control along with the convenience of working with your digital camera, the black Cambo ACTUS-G Camera Body with 15mm Lens for Sony E Mountfrom Cambo ACTUS-G Camera Body with 15mm Lens for Sony E Mounteffectively transforms your digital camera or back into a digital view camera. As the core component within a modular system, this view camera body serves as the primary piece from which you can pair a digital camera body with a variety of lenses to reap the benefits of geared camera movements for correcting perspective distortions, achieving an extended depth of field, or producing creative selective focus effects. While resembling traditional large format view cameras in function, the ACTUS system also echoes the compact form factor of the digital cameras it is designed to be paired with and is optimized for use in both the studio as well as on location.

This view camera body is delivered with a 6.1" monorail as well as a 4.9" bellows to permit working with a variety of lens and camera types. The monorail is designed to fit within the Arca-Swiss style quick release system for easy mounting to a tripod, and is also fitted with both 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 mounts for attaching quick release plates. Optional lensplates can be added depending on your desired lens type, and the monorail and bellows is also interchangeable with optional wide-angle and longer versions of each.

A full system of movements offers extensive control over perspective and focusing settings. Geared on-axis tilt and swing movements are performed on the front standard and the rear standard permits geared rise/fall and horizontal shift movements:

  • Rear Rise/Fall: +0.5", -0.6" / +12mm, -15mm
  • Rear Shift: +/- 0.8" / 20mm
  • Front Swing: 360°
  • Front Tilt: +10°, -9°

The swing and tilt movements of the front standard rotate about the optical axis in order to avoid having to re-compose or re-focus after each movement is applied.

  • Requires additional AC-792 or AC-793 Bayonet Holder, for use with Fujifilm GFX or Hasselblad X1D camera systems; AC-78E Bayonet Holder and dedicated camera mount bayonet, for use with Canon EF, Canon EF-M, Nikon F, Leica M, Sony E, Pentax K, Micro Four Thirds, Olympus OM-D, or Fujifilm X camera systems; or ACDB-989 SLW Interface Adapter Plate Holder and ACDB-series bellows, for use with select digital backs.

  • Revised rear standard features geared horizontal shift and is compatible with removable bayonet holders.

  • Both fine geared and quick-slide focusing adjustment types are available.

  • Bellows and monorail focusing allows you to achieve closer focusing distances without the use of extension tubes or other macro attachments.

  • Zero-position clicks are incorporated into each movement type for more intuitive handling.

  • Monorail is compatible with the Arca-Swiss-style quick release system and also features both 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 mounts.

  • Front tilts and swings allow you to alter the plane of focus for employing selective focus techniques or Scheimpflug settings for extensive depth of field. Additionally, these tilt and swing movements are used to correct for convergence and other perspective distortions.

  • Rear horizontal and vertical shifts allow you to move the camera position while retaining the same lens position, making this configuration especially ideal for stitching multiple exposures without having to adjust the lens.

  • This black finish body is anodized for greater durability and scratch resistance.

  • Compact overall form factor is relative to the size of DSLR and mirrorless cameras.

As the central component within the modular ACTUS system, this view camera body serves as the means to which you can attach a variety of optional lens plates and camera bayonet mounts. Additionally, besides the standard included bellows and monorail, a variety of optional bellows and monorails are available for wide-angle and close-focusing/macro shooting applications.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this focus to infinity with a Nikon Z body?

A: Yes, the Cambo ACTUS-G View Camera Body with 15mm Lens Kit for Nikon Z will focus to infinity on Nikon Z mount cameras.

Q: 2. Will the CFVII 50C fir this setup with the 907X in the loop, or will it work only with the back? And how does the shutter work in either case?

A: This product is only compatible with the Hasselblad X series cameras.

Q: 3. Along with a Nikon D810 I also have a Pentax 645Z system with a 120mm f4 medium format lens. Will this combination work together?

A: You can use your Nikon D810 with the 120mm lens if you use Cambo ACB-P645. There isn't a bayonet available to mount the Pentax 645Z body to the Actus. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1131846-REG/cambo_99070719_lensplate_with_pentax_645_lens.html

Q: 4. Will the Canon M6 Mark II work on the Actus-B2?

A: This an EF mount on the ACTUS-B2. While it is possible to adapt for use with an EF-M camera, it has not been tested to our knowledge.

Q: 5. What lens plate or lens adapter is needed at the front to mount XCD lenses? What part number or product name to be specific.

A: Cambo ACTUS-G View Camera Body with 20mm Lens Kit for Hasselblad X Mount comes with a Hasselblad X Mount adapter to connect your hasselblad X mount medium format camera. As for the lenses the lens mount it is a proprietary mount, compatible with optional ACTUS-B lensplates only.

Q: 6. What lens board do I need for the Hasselblad Xcd? I just received one adapter for the camera, not for the lens.

A: The Actus itself is a modular system so you would need to choose the lens board that would work best for your usage. For the Hasselblad X1d you should consider the following lens boards: Mamiya 645 (ACB-M645), Pentax 645 (ACB-P645), Hasselblad CF (Legacy Hasselblad Lenses) (ACB-HA), Mamiya RB/RZ (ACB-RZ), The Cambo Actar series of lenses, or large format lenses in a Copal-0 (ACB-0) or Copal-1 (ACB-1) Shutter 70mm and longer.

Q: 7. Does this work with the Nikon D810 ?

A: Yes, this is compatible with the Nikon D810.

Q: 8. I want to upgrade my d800 for architechture and macro photography, I own a nikkor 14mm 2.8, 20mm 2.8, 24mm 2.0, 28mm 2.8 and a 35mm 1.4 for architechture and a macro 60mm 2.8 and the 105mm micro for macro photography. Will theese lenses cover the whole sensor in the d800 for both cases?

A: None of those lenses will focus properly when using a Nikon body. Because this system introduces a bellows in between the lens and the camera body those lenses will not sit at the correct point for infinity focus.Instead I can recommend (with the appropriate lens board):Hassleblad V lenses Legacy Mamiya RZ/RB LensesLarge Format lenses 90mm and longer.

Q: 9. Does it work with the Schneider lens 28mm f 5.6?

A: Without knowing exactly which lens you are referring to I cannot give a solid answer, however generally speaking with large format lenses 47mm-60mm and longer should work (depending on the rear element size). Anything wider than that that isn't one of the Cambo Actar 24 lenses cannot be guaranteed.

Q: 10. What lens would I need to work with this ? Camera: Nikon D810.

A: You would need to purchase a lens board with the Cambo ACTUS-B4 View Camera Body with Nikon F Bayonet Mount Kit. Which lens you would use would depend on which lens board you purchase. If you look under the accessory section, you can find the various options.

[2.5 lb / 1150 g] Fits the camera and lens mounts very tight with no play. Quality engineering. My only gripe in the pin used for removing the lens. Wish it was a button.

Other than that it beats the Hasselblad version I purchased and returned because of the sloppy craftsmanship.

[3.505 lb] I fiddled with tilt shift lenses for some time and was never completely happy with their performance. The Cambo Actus-G (BH# CAAGCBBK) is a much more flexible solution and is only a bit more expensive than some of the tilt-shift lenses. Of course you do need to buy a suitable lens with a large image circle. I'm using this with a Nikon F mount camera and a Mamiya RZ lens adapter. I already had the Mamiya lenses so it was a no brainer. It did take a bit of time to figure out exactly what other items were needed but essentially You'll need 3 other pieces besides the body. The lens plate. I suggest a medium format lens like the Mamiya RB/RZ lenses. BH# CALPMRBRZB, The camera bayonet holder (Cambo AC-78E) BH# CAOBHDSLR and the camera bayonet plate BH# CABKNF. This is a very flexible system and using the bayonet holder (AC-78E) you can get different plates for about $70 so I could add in a mirrorless body just with a new bayonet plate. I don't know if it's by accident or intentionally but the Actus-G molded packaging fits perfectly inside a Pelican 1300 case - BONUS!
This will also focus to infinity so it works fine for architecture as well as tilting or swinging the focal plane for product photography.

[3.505 lb] After more than 25 years with Minolta and SONY equipment, I have made the switch to Canon. This adapter is indispensable for the transition. It allows me to continue using Minolta lenses while I decide which Canon lenses to buy.

[3.505 lb] It shows great image quality, all sharp except at f4, f22, in between is excellent. A picture below taken with D850, the 90mm lens tilted with a proper DOF to show every detail, directional or circular, very impressed.

[2.5 lb / 1150 g] Absolutely love this piece of Cambo equipment... They've gone through this design from top to bottom and have created a platform that is essentially a genius solution to having the ultimate digital view camera for those of us who require such a technical approach to creating images. The build quality and precision are top notch - everything feels very well machined and well assembled. The multiple lens plates for lens manufactures such as Mamiya, Pentax, Hasselblad, Leica and their very own Actar series of lenses allows you to have many options when it comes to lenses.

At first, this system can be confusing with what lenses will work with what body or digital back, but once you get familiar with their lens chart, it starts to make sense as to what can be used. The lens chart, listed below, gives all the data necessary to make informed decisions. I will say, with Pentax 645 glass, the latest HD DFA lenses are made specifically for Pentax's digital medium format bodies, which require a much smaller image circle than Pentax's 645 film format. So the A and FA Pentax lenses are a better option if you require shifting/rise/fall movements.

All in all, I would highly recommend this system. If you need rear standard movements, Cambo has even more in depth models known as the Actus MV and Actus XL, which in my mind seems better suited for studio and product photography. Personally, I use this system for interior design and architectural photography and I must say: it's working better than any T/S lens - and I own and use some phenomenal T/S lenses, i.e., the 19mm, 24mm, 45mm and 85mm PC-e lenses from Nikon; these are outstanding lenses, but the Cambo allows me more freedom of movement, so this is why I made the switch from a pair Nikon D-850 bodies and said T/S lenses. Freedom!!!!! (of movement).
