Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do I need to buy anything else with this to use it on the FX6, or is everything included with the kit?

A: The Zacuto Sony FX6 Z-Finder is ready to be installed and used on the Sony FX6 Full-Frame Cinema Camera (Body Only), B&H # SOFX6, as it comes in the kit.

Q: 2. Will this work on the Canon C100 and 200 cameras?

A: No. The following unit is designed and made for the C300/C500 Z-Finder is only compatible with the Canon C300, C300 Mark II, and the Canon C500.

Q: 3. How sturdy is the mount? Are you able to firmly press it against your eye for stabilization?

A: While the Zacuto Sony FX6 Z-Finder is not designed for stabilization purposes, you can press the Zacuto Sony FX6 Z-Finder eyepiece against your eye when hand-holding the Sony FX6 Full-Frame Cinema Camera to assist you in stabilizing and reducing camera movement.

Q: 4. Does this fit an fs5?

A: No it does not. For the FS5 we recommend the Zacuto FS5 Z-Finder for Sony FS5 Camera B&H # ZAZFINDFS5 MFR # Z-FIND-FS5

Q: 5. will this, unlike the Loupe from FX9, be firm? and not fall down ?

A: Upon looking at it, because it does have a clamping system with rigid teeth, this should not have an issue with falling down if properly fastened.

Q: 6. Will this work with C300 MkII?

A: Yes, this is compatible with the C300 Mark II as well.

Q: 7. I see that the Zacuto Sony FX6 Z-Finder Mount has to be bought separately. What would be the main advantages?

A: There is no advantage of buying one more the other, it's only based on your needs. Some customers prefer one configuration over the other based off of camera operating preferences.

Q: 8. Does this come with hardware to stabilize the set up or will it flop around with the added weight requiring the purchase of something like the Vocas FX6 viewfinder support?

A: It is designed to hold up well without additional hardware required.

Q: 9. Is this eyepiece more prone to screen burning (if left facing the sun) than the Sony FX9 eyepiece? Does it have any kind of IR filtering? I heard the shorter the finder, the more dangerous it is to burn the screen, sometimes in only a few seconds.

A: No, the following unit does not offer IR filtering. It is highly recommended to use the enclosed lens cap to block light from entering your Z-Finder when not in use.

Q: 10. Will this work with a sony fs700?

A: Yes it will!

[0.01 lb] I use it with the ZACUTO Kameleon. I've tried the +3 also, but it was too much magnifying. Be careful with the screw when you put this one back in, not too tight...

[0.01 lb] Used this shooting baseline for the past 6 months and the padding is comfortable. The handle collapses back which allows for a smaller profile for more doc type use with the FX6.

[0.01 lb] I know this is meant for the Gratical, but I recently installed it on my Z-Finder and it works perfectly.

[0.01 lb] Clips on securely, keeps the light off the monitor so you can see the LCD screen and it flips up for touch screen functions. It seems pretty sturdy and has held up well for run and gun shooting. You can move the eyepiece around to several other 1/4 20 holes on the FX6 with the Sony provided LCD stud. Small complaints-there is a slight limitation to seeing the edges of the entire screen without moving your eye around, but not a deal breaker for me. Also, the clip on the bottom of the Zacuto that you need to press to flip the eyepiece up is a little awkward and takes some getting used to. Overall, this has been a lifesaver for shooting with the FX6. It's great the Zacuto made something that Sony didn't supply with the camera.

[Clear] Goes on easy and feels sturdy. I haven't shot with it on location yet, but I think it will be a great addition allowing me to shoot handheld with a viewfinder rather than trying to see the small LCD - especially outdoors.

[0.01 lb] When you want to go more inconspicuous in sunlight and don't want an external monitor with a hood, this little gadget does great. It fits over the built in monitor very securely and you can see the screen so much better!

[0.01 lb] I've used the z-loupe on Canon's 5D series of cameras, and this one for the EVA1 is even better. Most importantly, it doesn't require power, which allows for a lighter and less complicated rig. You give some resolution compared with the Gratical Eye, but you gain a lot in portability and efficiency. As far as loupes go, this is the best you can get.

[0.01 lb] This is a very high quality, well built loop. It makes a significant difference in helping catch focus, and as a stabilization point for shoulder mounted shooting. Installation is easy and the mount is solid.
As a shooter who has more than 30 years in the field, my old eyes can't get by with just a flip out LCD. I'll be adding the Z-finder to all my cameras. There are certainly lower priced loops out there, but this seems to be built for professional use.

[0.01 lb] I recently purchased the +1 and +2 and went ahead and purchased the +3 to future proof my Z-Finder as my eyes get older. The +1 and +2 work perfectly on my Z-Finder and I'm glad to have this one ready to go when needed. For the money, it is a fantastic investment.

[0.01 lb] I know this is meant for the Gratical, but I recently installed it on my Z-Finder and it works perfectly for eyes that need a little extra magnification in the viewfinder.
