Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have read that the smart apps on this model are very limited. Is the Digital Concert Hall (Berlin Philharmonic) available?

A: This app is not available directly through this soundbar. Compatible with Amazon Prime Music, Pandora, TuneIn, and iHeartRadio.

Q: 2. Can this product play and upsample video files on my network area storage via LAN or wireless network connection?

A: The Panasonic DP-UB820-K HDR 4K UHD Network Blu-ray Player (BH # PADPUB820K) features a LAN port for direct connection to an internet router. Files cannot be shared directly via this connection.

A: This item offers no Bluetooth functionality.

Q: 4. How many fast forward speeds does the player support. Hopefully more than the Samsung player that only has one fast forward speed?

A: We have not actually had any hands-on time with this new product. It has not begun shipping yet. and the owner's manual is not yet published.

Q: 5. Since my 10-year-old Oppo DVD player is not working very well now, I am thinking about replacing it. Will this Panasonic model work with a 2009 Samsung plasma TV?

A: It will if your television has an HDMI input.

Q: 6. Can I play Blu-ray Discs without HDMI cables on my smart TV?

A: I am only seeing HDMI video signal available on the Panasonic DP-UB820-K. For RCA connections, there is only audio signal.

Q: 7. Does Panasonic DP-UB820 support Dolby Atmos

A: Officially, Panasonic does not list it in their documentation or specifications. However, most any Blu-ray player that supports Dolby TrueHD and bitstreamed output should support Dolby Atmos. Dolby is wrapping up the Atmos "objects" (the height information) into a Dolby TrueHD wrapper that works with existing players and receivers. When you send that Dolby TrueHD soundtrack out over HDMI to a Dolby Atmos-capable receiver or processor in bitstream mode, the receiver or processor detects that it is actually a Dolby Atmos track and processes the sound accordingly.

Q: 8. does this work with Pcs with AMD processors ? I heard that the Higher def Blue rays need an intel processor because of a technic

A: The Panasonic DP-UB820-K HDR 4K UHD Network Blu-ray Player (B&H # PADPUB820K) can read discs without interacting with any other devices like a computer. This Blu-ray player can connect to any computer that can receive an HDMI input for use as a monitor.

Q: 9. What I meant to say was will the UB820 stream to two smart tvs in different rooms at the same time? If so,how? Distance between the two is about 35 feet.

A: In order for the Panasonic DP-UB820-K HDR 4K UHD Network Blu-ray Player BH #PADPUB820K to work on two different TV's at the same time you would need an HDMI splitter. For example the MuxLab HDMI 1 x 2 Splitter BH #MUHDMI1X2SP would allow you to do this. The player would connect to the splitter and then have two HDMI outputs.

Q: 10. Is the player noisier when reading a 4K UHD disc compared to a regular blu-ray HD disc? The player sounds normal at regular play.

A: There should be no difference.

[3.515 lb] This player is awesome! I can't believe how much detail I have missed in watching some of our Disney and older movies. It is perfect!

[Yes] This is a great UHD (4K) Blu-ray player. It costs more than some others but it doesn't compromise. One particularly notable feature is that this model has Dolby Vision. You can find a cheaper player with Dolby Vision but it does not detect and enable Dolby Vision automatically; you have to turn it on and off. Spend a little extra and get the UHD/Dolby Vision Blu-ray player that does it right.

[NTSC] So far I am very please with this purchase. I do not have 4K television but in the process of getting one but from what I hear I shouldn't be disappointed.

[LAN] Incredible value at Black Friday pricing. Main menu UI is outdated but as a player it works very well. HDR optimizer is great, but didn’t seem to be enabled by default. I encourage new owners to go through their settings properly.

There is only one issue which is that it’s way, way too easy to accidentally press the Netflix button on the remote when navigating menus, interrupting playback and taking ages to load, and then even longer to get back to the movie.

If only the player was able to re-encode DTS to Dolby, it would be perfect, as many popular soundbars don’t support DTS at all. Notably you can choose to output DTS as PCM, but even 5.1ch DTS-HD seems to be output as 2ch PCM (at least with my gear), which is a bit of a downgrade.

[3.515 lb] I was told your waiting your money buying blue ray disks, friends said the DVDs look the same, boy were they wrong!
I have a Sony BR player and it's what i call a work wagon most times playing DVDs, home movies BR disks but it lacked the luster that my Lazer projector required. But now I have the
Panasonic DP-UB154P-K Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray Disc Player my movies shine and the sound quality are amazing, and for under $200 take your home theater experience to a new level.

[3.515 lb] Great up-scaling from 1080 to 4k. Sound is great. Not build nearly as well as the Oppo 203 or the Panasonic ub9000. But the video and audio quality is the same at a fraction on the cost.

[1x HDMI] Hate to get caught up in always buying the latest high(er) resolution video players, but the step up to 4k is pretty dang nice. The enhanced image enabled by Dolby Vision is awesome. You can actually see what's going on deep in the shadows of a dark scene.
Not all movies being sold as 4k are an actual improvement over regular bluray, but the good ones are great!

[Yes] Exceptional picture, HD or UHD, lacks front USB stick input, hard to reach the USB port in the back. Otherwise, highly recommended.

[3.515 lb] I replaced Sony UBP-X800M2 4K UHD Blu-Ray Disc Player because the regular DVDs were not sharp. blu ray and 4K were perfect. Also 1 in 30 movies would just lock up the player requiring a power reset.
NOW 4K and regular blu rays are great. Also regualr DVDs are great. Sometimes it fils my 4k tv and sometimes the are black boxed on 4 sides. They always look much better then the sony. Happy Happy

[3.515 lb] I haven't been able to watch a lot of discs on it yet, but everything I have seen so far has looked and sounded excellent. The menu structure is straight forward and it was easy to setup. I am not using any of the streaming features, I strictly bought it for 4K Blu-Rays.
