Q: 7. What kind of additional memory and 1 Gig internal storage can I use, please make a recommendation. Thanks?

A: The HP Z2 G9 Small Form Factor Workstation can support DDR5 4800 type memory and (2) additional NVMe SSDs. A good upgrade choice would be the Crucial 32GB DDR5 4800 MHz UDIMM Memory Kit, B&H# CRCT2K16G48C and the Samsung 1TB 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 Internal SSD, B&H# SAMZV8P1T0B .

[64] This Pentium loads the RX 6500 XT to 99-100% on games I play.
Plus, the CPU is pretty much even with a Ryzen 3-3200g or an i3-9100 on Novabench scores. The integrated 710 gpu is powerful enough to even play popular games on low settings, like Fortnite, Valorant and Pubg. Yes, you can copy/stream games using the integrated gpu in OSB. I'm very satified with this Pentium, B&H had this cpuand my budget build. B&H came through for me- the restock notification for the G740o worked perfectly.

[Octa Channel] After nearly 9 months of research, and narrowing my choice down to the Lenovo P72, Dell 7730 and ZBook 17 G5, I went with the ZBook.  Based on my internet research, Lenovo and Dell both had more system issues, including Thunderbolt issues and throttling under heavy load.

This configuration of the ZBook (i7 8850, Quadro P3200 graphics processor and 16G ram) hit the sweet spot for price/performance, especially at the $2749 price B&H was asking ($500 discount).

You can spec the system with a faster processor and faster graphics card, but ALL of the systems from the big 3 (Dell, Lenovo and HP) will throttle under heavy load if you spec higher than a 8850 and P3200.  Why pay for extra processing power that will get throttled at heavy load?

One of the primary reasons I went with this system was the combination of DreamColor display and integrated display calibration system.  B&H doesnt list this particular model (MFR # 4RB09UT#ABA) as coming with the dreamcolor display, but it does!  I definitely wanted the Dreamcolor display for photo editing, so verified with both B&H customer service and HP customer support that this particular model was the DreamColor model before ordering.  The display is definitely worth the extra cost if you will be using the system for photo editing or color-critical graphics work.

My display had minor light bleed issues in the lower left corner, but I decided that was insignificant and wouldnt affect my photo editing work.  Im very glad I kept the system.  Its a tremendous upgrade over my several years old Dell Precision workstation.

The easy upgrade back panel makes it super easy to upgrade ram and SSDs.

No system is perfect, but Im convinced this system comes closest to perfection out of the options available on the market today.

[LGA 4677] We all seem to go through laptops every few years for varies reasons.
For us this time, we were looking for more processing power across several applications, and having faster hard drive and the ability to have a faster link to other equipment.
During our buying process we of course had worked out a lot of what we would require in a new device. We have been loyal HP clients for way over a decade and as much as we looked at other brands have kept with the make.
So, again when buying a shopping one always have to look into the small details, and as we are going to be using this latest one for our own web and photo design we love the enhanced screen and all that it can offer us. we loved to different reviews on this platform and would agree that for us it fills all of our criteria right our of the box

[Yes] My previous workstation (Z-620) lasted 10 years. Everything on this new one worked right out of the box. A very zippy machine. Quiet too. Nice organization inside the case. Excellent design and build quality.

[2S] My prior experience is with Dell Precision M6600, M6800 and Lenovo Thinkpad P51 mobile workstations. Thus far, this HP is incredible. It is the best designed workstation that I have used: from the aluminum chassis to the glass trackpad, under-hinge vents, to the tool-less internal compartment - it is obvious that this redesign was well thought out.

The fans are mostly silent. On full load they ramp up to a low-pitched whir that is amazingly quiet compared to competing notebooks. There is no coil whine, quite unlike the Lenovo P51 I owned.

I am using the 2.5" drive bay and I have converted the optical drive bay to accommodate another SSD with a caddy. There are still 3 Nvme slots available though one is occupied by the system drive.

I have undervolted the CPU which allows better performance. The cooling solution allows full turbo boost with all cores maxed out. There is occasional thermal throttling, so repasting the CPU will probably help. There is no power-limit throttling.

The Dreamcolor screen is gorgeous. The Dreamcolor functionality can be switched off in the BIOS if one prefers to use integrated graphics to prolong battery life.

All in all, this machine was worth the wait for me!

[Yes] Mounted the chip on an Asus MB with 16 GB RAM and 500 GB SSD. It's a very solid entry level machine.
