Compatible with lenses with 37mm filter threads, this Neewer Variable ND Filter 37mm 1-5 Stopfrom Neewer features a built-in, rotating ring that controls neutral density ranging from 1-5 stops. The variable ND2-ND32 filter allows you to add a sense of movement to an image such as capturing the blur of the rippling water of a waterfall or light trails by affording more control over your shutter speed. With its 9.5mm thickness, this filter also avoids possible vignetting on wide-angle lenses. Constructed with optical glass and an aluminum frame, this lightweight filter's design also has 30 layers of double-sided nano coatings for an anti-oil, anti-dust, anti-scratch, and water-repellent surface that can keep your lens safe.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this EF-RF adapter accept the Canon Super Telephoto drop-in filter holders?

A: Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Variable ND Filter has a built-in/ non removable Nd filter. There are no threads either to screw additional filters. The drop in filter magazine is also smaller than the standard telephoto drop in filter. It's dimensions are 6mm x 53mm x64mm.

Q: 2. Is this compatible with RF lenses? If not has Canon mentioned if there will be an adapter for RF lenses on the R? And if not are there alternatives?

A: This is only for EF lenses. I am not aware of any alternatives.

Q: 3. Is there a version of the drop-in filter mount that adopts PL lenses to RF?

A: This Fotodiox adapter is for PL lens to Canon RF camera and it has a built in ND filter. The filter is not drop in though. There isn't a version with drop in for that combination. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1486458-REG/fotodiox_pl_eosr_ndthrtl_cine_vizelex_nd_throttle_lens.html

Q: 4. How many stops of a ND filter is it?

A: Between 1.5 to 9 stops for the ND filter

Q: 5. I am more concerning the image quality and autofocus speed when using this variable ND filter. Does it degrade the image quality or add othe color tone(s) or hue(s) to the captured image? Does it slow down the autofocus speed at all?

A: It works well , The darker the ND the slower the focus usually it gets , but in Mirrorless Digital Camera its not as bad , and it does not have a color shift

Q: 6. Would this adapter fit onto an RF Teleconverter extender? So rf camera - extender - adapter - ef lens? Thanks!

A: The RF teleconverters do not fit into the EF-RF adapters, so that order would not be possible.

Q: 7. If using only legacy lenses, a mount adapter would always be needed, but not the ND filter. If shooting when the filter is not needed, would I have to purchase the basic mount adapter, or can I just remove the filter from the adapter?

A: Yes, that is correct. SOMETHING has to be in the filter slot 1) in order to simply keep dust and debris out of the adapter (without the ND filter or the clear filter, there would be a large opening in your adapter on which your lens connects), and 2) as the adapter was designed with the ND filter in mind, the filter becomes part of the optical formula. Without a piece of glass with the same design and size in the slot, it may affect proper focusing. As such, the Canon Drop-In Clear Filter A, B&H # CADICFA, is required when you are not using the ND filter and you do not want the effect of an ND filter on your image.

Q: 8. Does the VND filter have any polarizing effects on the light entering the camera?

A: There have been no reports of a polarizing effect with this variable ND filter installed into the adapter.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with Komodo X?

A: Yes, the Meike Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF to EOS-R with Variable ND Filter is compatible with RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO-X 6K Digital Cinema Camera (Canon RF) when used with EF lenses.

Q: 10. Does this adapter change the lens reach?

A: The Meike Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF to EOS-R with Variable ND Filter does not change the focal length of the lens being used.

[Aluminum] Ordered only a couple of days before the eclipse. Took it to the border of Canada to see the totality. Worked great!

[37 mm] Those variable ND filters are PERFECT. I love the fact that is does not have infinity rolling, so you actually know when you're at the minimum or maximum filter value. Just like a regular iris. Way better than the others brands, where there's no physical limit so you can turn it all the way to the max, and suddenly switch to the minimum value...

[37 mm] If you understand how this filter works and use it properly you will get excellent results. At first I was wary because of some of the negative reviews along with the price, however both points I have proved wrong. First you don't have to spend hundreds to get a good filter, second some people have no business writing reviews. Yes the dreaded X effect it is easy to achieve especially at wide focal range but it is also rather easy to eliminate, If you have the flexibility. Note all these filters have this limitation since they are basically just two polarizing filters. I found no distortions or color problems out of the ordinary and have easily gotten all the results we buy these types of filter for. With this 95mm size using step-down rings I can use this on three of my lenses. I have noted some have mentioned not being able to use lens hoods, not sure how hoods would be used conveniently with a rotating filter to begin with. And the only time I use a lens cap is when I am done for the day. The filter feels solid and well made and the ring moves nice and smooth with no loose play, the filter also comes with a really rugged hard shell case and a lifetime warranty. I have a number of filters some Bower, Hoya and B+W that were way pricey but the 95mm B+W Variable ND is just way over priced IMHO So in the end glad I went with this it has proven I don't need to overpay to get good results
