The Pan mode is essentially normal end-to-end particle-based panning. This type of panning effect changes the position of the sound source between two points (start point to end point) previously defined by you. Therefore, the greater the energy of the input signal the greater the shift from the starting point to the end point.

Whenever the audio signal reaches a certain level (threshold value), the sound source moves on a trajectory that you define. As opposed to pan mode, the sound source does not return to the starting point as soon as the signal level drops. The sound source will freeze that position until the audio signal exceeds the threshold value again, leading to a new shift of the sound source in the dome space.

A: It works with the D850 - sort of. Most functions work but rear curtain sync does not. I have informed PW of this but they have not solved the issue in over a year. These units can be very finicky and frustrating. If I were to do it over, I would seriously look at some of the newer competitors on the scene - they seem to work with less issues and are less $$$ to boot. Just my 2 cents...

Q: 3. I currently use a pair of PW PlusX to sync my Canon 1Ds3 to Profoto Acute2 and Profoto Compact monolight. I'd like to utilize higher sync speeds and do not need TTL, just manual settings. Do I need just one FlexTT5 to go with my PlusX or do I need a pair?

A: You will need the PW MiniTT1 or a FlexTT5 for the camera and two TT5's for your lights, once you setup the TT1 or TT5 (on camera) & TT5 on your lights you will be able to do the HSS. TTL works good & manual is just as good in the right settings. Hope this works for you.

A: The dimensions of the Sound Devices 633 are 2.2 x 9.4 x 5.6". The dimensions of the interior of the CS3 bag: 1.75 x 8.5 x 5.25" Based on these specifications, it would not be compatible.

Q: 7. Can the TT5 be used in conjunction with the Nikon Creative Lighting System? Such as using the CLS to trigger a key and fill light but then have the PW trigger a flash for a kicker that is out of site from the IR of the CLS commander.

A: Being that the TT5 operates via radio frequency, it would not work with the Nikon CLS system which uses line of sight. What you could do is use the Pocket Wizard Mini TT1 Transmitter, B&H # WIMTT1N on your camera and have a TT5 transceiver on each flash set off camera. To control the other flashes off camera, you can either use a Pocket Wizard AC3 Zone Controller, B&H # WIAC3N on top of the Mini TT1 or you can place another Nikon speedlight on there which has a master function.
