Generate unbelievable sounds with the 4ms Ensemble Oscillator, a complex Eurorack oscillator designed in cooperation with Mathias Puech and features a unified polyphonic voice of 16 oscillators combining additive, FM, phase distortion, and wavefolding synthesis in new and unprecedented ways.

The Ensemble Oscillator can quantize the oscillators to a scale or series of harmonics, allowing you to explore the sonic boundary between music chords and rich evolving textures. Easily create a wide variety of sounds ranging from aggregates of pure sinewaves, to pulsar synthesis, pristine harmonic tones, and lush wide chords, to rich dirty drones and rumbling glitches. Custom scales can quickly be learned and saved using a CV keyboard or by manually entering notes with the controls. The Ensemble Oscillator ships with a ribbon power cable and mounting screws.

  • 16 sine-based oscillators bound to intervals of a selected Scale
  • 30 factory-programmed, user-writeable scales organized in three groups:
    • 12TET: all notes quantized to equal temperament
    • Octave: unquantized notes, repeating over octaves
    • Free: unquantized notes, repeating over the interval between the lowest and highest note
  • A simple method to program (learn) your own scales manually or with a CV/Gate keyboard
  • Three Twist phase-distortion effects
  • Three Warp wave-distortion effects
  • Three algorithms of Cross FM for modulating the oscillators with each other
  • Mono or stereo output with selectable panning algorithm
  • Freeze button and jack to freeze the frequency of some of the oscillators, with selectable algorithm
  • Two 1V/oct inputs: Pitch (unquantized), and Root (quantized)
  • High-accuracy, temperature-stable, eight-octave range (-2V to +6V), can be calibrated to any keyboard
  • Six bipolar CV inputs (-5V to +5V)
  • Two gate inputs for automated Learning and Freezing

  • 16 HP Eurorack format module
  • Maximum Depth: 0.98" (25mm)
  • Includes power ribbon cable with 10- to 16-pin Eurorack power headers
  • Power consumption: +12V: 114mA, -12V: 45mA

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Which MiniPC mount is compatible with this monitor ?. Or is the HP B550 16U00AA mount compatible with the HP 27 "Z27k G3 1B9T0AA # ABB monitor? well thank you Best Regards Milan S.

A: This mount will allow you to mount a HP Mini Workstation to the back of the monitor. https://bhpho.to/3ntVa0h

Q: 2. Does this laptop have a MUX switch?

A: Yes, the MSI 16" Raider GE68HX Gaming Laptop features a MUX switch.

Q: 3. How is the Z2 workstation mounted to the back of this monitor? Do you have photos?

A: thanks, but the description of the monitor in General Features leads one to conclude that this can be done with no additional parts. General Features Declutter your desk and connect a series of displays by daisy chaining with a single DisplayPort cable. Connect to a workstation, desktop, and additional displays. Mount your HP Z2 Mini or HP Desktop Mini directly to the monitor for a clean workspace. Even if just a third of a pixel fails or is stuck in one position, HP will replace the entire display. Easily attach the Z Display Conferencing Speaker Bar for stereo quality audio and dual microphones. The assurance of HP's limited three-year standard warranty.

Q: 4. Is there a way to add second SSD to the laptop internally?

A: No, the MSI 16" Raider GE68HX Gaming Laptop only has one M.2 SSD slot.

Q: 5. How bright (in nits) is the minimum brightness setting?

A: HP only specifies the monitors brightness at its maximum, which is 400 cd/m2. The reason being is that when the brightness is set the lowest setting, "the image can appear as blurred, indistinct, or too dark," as noted HP's manual for the monitor.

Q: 6. Does the background come ready to set up or do you have to buy a seperate support for it?

A: Yes, you will need to have some other support. A wall will work, but you will need to adjust your lighting accordingly. I also purchased some gaffers tape the same color as the screen to help secure the floor, if necessary.

Q: 7. does this seamless need stands?

A: It works better when supported. It has a metal band that frames part of the backdrop. I use a tripod on one side and pin the remainder to the wall.

Q: 8. What is the TDP of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 on this laptop?

A: HP has not provided a spec on the TDB of the OMEN 16-b1020nr Gaming Laptop's GPU, but the average benchmark TDP of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (Mobile) is 125w.

Q: 9. Are any HDMI / USB cables included ?

A: This comes with 1 USB cable. It does not come with HDMI cable. It comes with a Displayport cable.

Q: 10. How many stands are needed to set this up? One? Or two and a support bar?

A: I have always used 2 with the support bar.

[Eurorack Power] I'm a musician and home recording my own stuff. I used these mics both for close miking acoustic instruments and overall ambiance miking, and they gave very good performance in both. I'm not so much obsessive about flat frequency response, and I'm not running a full equipped studio; so these are more than enough for me. Unbelievably great performance for the price, especially on acoustic instruments, low weight, works directly with the 48V phantom power of my firewire sound interface, also suitable for stereo ambiance miking as a pair when needed, with a really slight difference in frequency response. Worst thing about them is, although it's said that they are cardioid, they are in fact somewhere between cardioid and omni.

[16 HP] remember to split your eurorack modules even on the buss power, you have second row and you can put your power hungry modules in that row, also you get about 70mm depth on the bottom row as there is no obstruction from the bus board, use modular grid to sort out the arrangement, I got this in 2 days from B&H, incredible timing. Thank You Guys !!

[16 HP] I preordered the VL2 based purely on my enjoyment of Pittsburgh's previous Taiga synth. The VL2 is a completely blank slate for you to dive in, experiment and tweak/build to your hearts desire. The new waveform/folding options are deep and the sequencer on this system is amazing. Create anything from polyrhythms and percussives to full on melodic arrangements, all complete with chance/scanning/scrubbing/fills/slides etc. The middle blue row (shared by both sequencers) is a terrific idea that opens up your modulation options in really fun ways that you may not fully realize until you get your hands on the system. Florist chorus/reverb and a longer delay (than the Taiga) are welcome effect additions to add flavor to any arrangement. I LOVE this synth. It's big, it's easy to touch and play and it sounds amazing. They nailed it once again.

[0.575 lb] Really fun module. You can sample into it from outside your rack. Cool stuff

[16 HP] It’s not an eight-voice polysynth with presets. But it truly is a system dedicated to exploring how analog modules can interact, and the sequencer is powerful. It’s a very good first Eurorack system, but also a very natural central unit for controlling and interacting with other modular gear. You can absolutely make interesting bass lines and melodies with this thing in the first few hours but my guess is I’ll be fiddling with it for years. I’m a fan. It’s what you make of it, but you can make a lot.

[Eurorack Power] I have been using this as a source for automated modulations and a sweeping sweet-spot finder in my patches, overall it frees up some sends for me and I find cool sounds faster
