Generate advanced envelope shapes that synchronize to your master clock with the 4ms Pingable Envelope Generator (PEG), a dual envelope generator whose envelope lengths are set by incoming clocks or pings. The PEG has full CV control of envelope shape, skew, and ping (clock) division/multiplication, as well as a plethora of triggering and cycling options (AD, AR, quantization, cycle), and a tap tempo button for each channel.

Various combinations of exponential, linear, logarithmic, and interpolated curves are available for the rise and fall portions. Total envelope time is maintained throughout any curve selection and you can skew knob and CV control of the ratio between rise and fall times without changing total envelope time. The PEG ships with a ribbon power cable and mounting screws.

  • Dual pingable envelope generator's total envelope time is set by a ping
  • Tap tempo button or incoming clock sets the ping time
  • Envelope time is a multiple or division of the ping time (from ÷8 to x8) set by Ping Div/Mult knob and CV
  • Curve knob and CV control the shape of the output envelope. Various combinations of exponential, linear, logarithmic, and interpolated curves are available for the rise and fall portions. Total envelope time is maintained throughout any curve selection.
  • Skew knob and CV control the ratio between rise and fall times without changing total envelope time

  • Scale knob is an attenuating inverter for main envelope output (Maximum 0V to +10V non-inverted, and Minimum -10V to 0V inverted).
  • Bi-polar button centers main envelope output around 0V (-5V to +5V output)
  • +5V ENV jack is a non-scaling output that always produces a 0V to +5V envelope, regardless of Scale and Bi-polar settings
  • Or jack outputs an analog Or of the two scaled envelope curves. This outputs the highest value from either envelope at any given moment, taking into account the Scale and Bi-polar controls

  • End-of-Rise (EOR) gate output goes high when envelope finishes a rise portion, and goes low when envelope begins a rise portion
  • End-of-Fall (EOF) gate output goes high when envelope finishes a fall portion, and goes low when envelope begins a fall portion
  • Jumper for each channel changes EOR output to a Half-Rise gate output. The Half-Rise jack goes high when 50% of the time of the rise portion has elapsed, and goes low after 50% of the time of the fall portion. Using the Skew parameter, this jack provides a variable phase gate output useful for quadrature effects and clock phase shifting and trigger delay effects. Factory setting is EOR for red channel, Half-Rise for blue channel.

  • Cycle button for each channel forces envelope to self-cycle in sync with the ping clock (LFO mode). Button lights up when in cycle mode.
  • T jack toggles the state of both channels' Cycle button when a gate is applied.
  • QNT jack for each channel triggers an envelope to start at the next quantized beat, with respect to the divided/multiplied ping clock. Holding a gate high on this jack causes the envelope to repeat.
  • Async jack for each channel causes an envelope to output immediately (individually). Holding a gate high results in an AR envelope (rise-sustain-fall). If cycle mode is enabled, the envelope will continue to cycle at this new phase with respect to the ping clock. Phase can be reset to being in sync with the ping clock by pressing the cycle button or applying a pulse to the QNT jack.

  • CV control of Ping Div/Mult, Skew, and Curve using the CV jacks. Respective knobs set the center offset for the applied CV
  • CV of 0 to 10V will modulate the parameter's full range. However, a 0 to 5V CV will modulate the parameter within a very useful range.

  • Special mode to change advanced parameters
  • Reassign the Half-Rise jack to EOR (and vice-versa)
  • Reassign the EOF jack to Tap Tempo Clock output
  • Select Gate or Trigger output from EOR / EOF / Half-R jacks
  • Requires a continuous external ping clock (unit will not free-run if external ping clock stops)
  • Enable/disable skew limiting that keeps fastest rise/fall times at 6 ms

  • 20 HP Eurorack format module
  • Maximum Depth: 1.6" (40mm)
  • Includes power ribbon cable with 16-pin Eurorack power header
  • Power consumption: +12V: 105mA, -12V: 35mA

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a rack mount bracket for this?

A: Yes! Connectronics 1U Rackmount for Blackmagic Mini Converters - Works Great! Holds 4 Converters.

Q: 2. Will this allow me to jam timecode if I am shooting on a URSA mini 4k (first edition) and recording audio to a Zoom H4N Pro (2020 edition)? any noticeable downfalls with this setup that you know of? Denecke said it would work with the URSA mini but didnt know about the Zoom H4N Pro

A: We are not aware of this working for that purpose.

Q: 3. Can this Sync Generator support connect with 4 pieces of "Hyperdesk Studio 12G" (2160P / 60 frame) ? How to set the video format ? Just set to PAL or NTSC ?

A: Yes. You can set the Sync Generator to 1080i60 tri level in this case.

Q: 4. Is there a D-Tap power cable for this?

A: There are several D-Tap to 12V barrel cables on this site.

Q: 5. Can I use this with the Red Komodo and Tentacle Sync Recorder and Tentacle Sync to Red Komodo timecode cable?

A: The Denecke JB-1 Syncbox Timecode Generator (B&H# DEJB1) can use the Tentacle Sync Tentacle to BNC Cable (Straight, 16") (B&H# TEC06) to provide time code for jam-syncing the Tentacle Sync TRACK E Pocket Audio Recorder with Lavalier Mic and Timecode Support (B&H# TETRACKE). And one could indeed connect the Denecke JB-1 Syncbox Timecode Generator (B&H# DEJB1) with the RED DIGITAL CINEMA EXT-to-Timecode Cable (3') (B&H# REEXTTOTC3) to the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO 6K Digital Cinema Camera (Canon RF) (B&H# REKOMB).

Q: 6. BM Website says framerates include 1080/59.940p and 1080/60p, however B&H only lists specs going up to 1080/59.94 interlaced. Is this product listed an old model?

A: It does support 1080P.

Q: 7. What happens with the timecode when I am recording at 60fps?

A: From the manufacturer; 60fps is the Video Frame Rate. The TC frame rate will be half of that. So, 60 fps Video = 30 fps TC. Please note, that many times the video frame rate is referred to as '60' when it is actually '59.94'. In this case, the timecode rate is 29.97fps. I have a strong hunch that this is the case here. 30\60 is very rarely used theses days.

Q: 8. Does the TC-3 slate have this device built into it?

A: The Deneke TS-3 Time Code Slate reads and displays SMPTE/EBU Time Code; it utilizes an internally mounted SB-2 Syncbox Time Code Generator.

Q: 9. Do I need to download software for using Sync Generator for Synchronize 4 pieces of Hyperdesk Studio 12G Recorder?

A: No.

Q: 10. What is the right cable for RED?

A: The following B&H code will be the correct cable: RE7900643

[20 HP] I have purchased several of the photo envelopes for storage and organization. They work great and it even has a pocket on the front for extra storage.

[Eurorack Module] remember to split your eurorack modules even on the buss power, you have second row and you can put your power hungry modules in that row, also you get about 70mm depth on the bottom row as there is no obstruction from the bus board, use modular grid to sort out the arrangement, I got this in 2 days from B&H, incredible timing. Thank You Guys !!

[Analog] [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Printing bulk levels of envelopes in rapid succession is a time killer if you manual feed. This pushes the envelopes through in no time at all. Will no longer use a laser printer without an envelope feeder. Fantastic.

[Eurorack Power] These are great for Art School. I bought a few and glad I did. Most everything we do is 18 x 24 these fit perfectly. To note when considering sizes get a couple inches bigger then you need. You will avoid bending prints this way as the size doesn't take into fact where the zipper stops.

[Analog] Great keyboard, works as intended - and a good amount of options under the hood. Will your keyboard be a bit messier looking? Sure..but a really cool way to customize exactly what you want your perfect 4-voice poly/paraphonic instrument to do. And yes you can go beyond 4 voices using its midi outputs. All in all a pretty cool way to incorporate a case and keyboard in one.

[Analog] I had many different sizes of these Polyzip envelopes, but not the 4x9 size. They are nicely made and very inexpensive. I use this size to store anything from small notepads, pens, and whatever else will fit in them. As always the price was the cheapest at B&H and the service, as always was impeccable. Great buy!!!..
