Q: 1. What's the difference between the 007 version and the 010 version?

A: The difference between the B+W 67mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter (B&H # BWCXSP67) and the B+W 67mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter (B&H # BWUVXSP67) is the Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter is a completely clear filter that has no filtration whatsoever, and is used simply for its protection properties and ease of cleaning. The UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter may also be used for protection and cleaning needs, but in addition to the above, it is also designed to absorb/block ultraviolet light, which reduces the bluish cast of daylight, and reduces atmospheric haze. . In bright daylight, near bodies of water or snow, in high atmospheres, and in some urban situations, a UV haze filter may also assist in cutting through atmospheric haze to assist you in obtaining a higher quality image. In regards to urban situations, ALL haze may not be eliminated as some urban haze is due to smog and/or air pollution, and not due primarily to UV reflection. Other than one being clear and one having UV haze filtration, the filter size and the brass filter ring would be identical. Both use high-quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity and have a thin brass ring designed to reduce/eliminate vignetting on full-frame lenses up to 24mm wide, or on APS-C sensor lenses up to 18mm wide, or on Micro Four Thirds lenses up to 12mm wide

Q: 2. What is the thread pitch on this lens? Is it 0.5 or 0.75 mm?

A: As per the manufacturer, the thread pitch for the B+W 40.5mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC Nano 010M Filter is 0.75mm.

Q: 3. Is B+H an authorized B+W dealer? I went on the Scheider Optics website and they are not listed as a dealer

A: Yes, B&H is an authorized B+W dealer.

Q: 4. The description mentions that it has a thin ring . Others have mentioned that a thin ring prevents the use of a normal lense cap . Also that thin ring prevents the use of another filter to be attached to the front of the UV filter . Does B&W make 72mm filter that addresses these issues ?

A: I have not had any issues with a lens cap with this UV filter in place. The filter works beautifully. As for attaching other filters, I rarely attach other filters but this UV filter does have threading to allow attachment of additional filters. You could also remove this filter pretty easily and attach another filter as needed. Hope that helps..

Q: 5. Can I directly attach this on the Hasselblad XCD 45/p lens, and will the lens cap fit with the hood on?

A: The Sensei PRO 62mm Aluminum Lens Hood does screw into the front of the Hasselblad XCD 45mm f/4 P Lens. The lens cap that came with the lens will not fit when the hood is on.

Q: 6. Will this fit a zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4? the Otus has 86mm front filter thread.

A: Yes this should fit perfectly.A very appropriate choice for such a lens!Colin

Q: 7. Will this fit the voilander 40mm 1.2

A: It will not. The Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.2 has a 58mm thread. Instead you would need B&H # BWUVXSP58. https://bhpho.to/2MbwZTx

Q: 8. Will you still be able to attach the lens hood on a Zeiss Batis 18mm f/2.8 lens for Sony e mount when this B+W uv filter is on the lens? I read somewhere that it couldn't.

A: This filter can still fit while the lens hood is attached.

Q: 9. According to the write up: Note: This filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size, and because of this you may be unable to attach the lens manufacturer's bayonet-mounted lens hood to the lens while using this filter. This is dependent on your specific lens and how thick the front rim of the lens is; with thinner, low-profile lenses usually being affected more.So if I apply this model B+W on a Nikon 50mm 1.8G lens, will the Nikon lens cap and the Nikon lens hood snap onto the threads? Thanks.Del

A: I am using the 58mm XS-Pro UV MRC-Nano 010M Filter on a Nikon 50mm 1.8G lens. I have had no problems at all with the lens cap or hood when this filter is on the lens.

Q: 10. How many multicoating's?

A: The B+W 67mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter is multicoated to reduce flair. B+W does not list the number of coatings. There is also a Nano coating that provides an improved beading effect with water for more efficient cleaning.

[Brass] I recently ordered this to have more options when shooting with a full-spectrum converted camera. It's great to be able to do false colour infrared without needing to use channel mixing in post production. It also opens up a wider range of treatments in the resulting files. I think it's my new favourite IR look.

[Brass] Works great on full spectrum cameras. Lets you get into the deep infrared on 720nm or higher converted cameras.

[62 mm] This filter is easy to put in and easy to remove. The mounting mechanism works really well and the all metal construction is very durable. The filter itself is high quality and works very well. Kolari customer service is also fantastic.

[62 mm] After long ago exploring IR images with Kodak chemical films, I purchased the Kolari K665Pro and K720Pro to use on a stock Canon EOS 5D Mark IV and Canon lenses. I chose the Kolari Pro series for their sharp cutoff spectra as well as their filter coatings compared to Kolari's base series or Hoya. The Kolari Pro quality / performance / price point trade-offs were great IMHO. Starting with the 665, I set the camera for manual exposure (typically bracketing around +2) and manual focus (typically longer focus settings), and the stock sensors pick up enough red for good composition and control. It has been a short learning curve and I am most pleased with the images that the Kolari filters are generating: awesome black and white landscapes, cloudscapes, and waterscapes, and excellent starting points for post-processed color shots (native red hue or channel swapped)! No discernible color aberration until I push the image magnification to its pixel limits. The coatings have been great with tough lighting angles - no flares - and stay remarkably clean in windy, dusty environments! Continuing experiments with the 720, which pushes the limits of the stock sensors but still works well. Highly recommend the Kolari 665Pro for anyone getting into IR!!!

[Glass] After long ago exploring IR images with Kodak chemical films, I purchased the Kolari K665Pro and K720Pro to use on a stock Canon EOS 5D Mark IV and Canon lenses. I chose the Kolari Pro Gen series for their sharp cutoff spectra as well as their filter coatings compared to Kolari's base series or Hoya. The Kolari Pro quality / performance / price point trade-offs were great IMHO.

I posted a review of the 665 and can not say enough positives about it!!! 5 stars!!!

Still experimenting with the 720. It is slightly more technically challanging on a stock camera, but just as impressive as the 665 so far. Highly recommend the Kolari Pro Gen series for anyone getting into IR!!!

[62 mm] OK if you are not sure if you will use it don't buy it. But if you have a full spectrum camera, this is one of your filters in your IR, UV filter set. Color IR is not for every one but it can be a blast if you find a way to understand what this filter can do for you.

[62 mm] Its almost magic. Se what your eyes can't see. Thats what this filter does in a full conversion camera, a tripod and a photographer capable of working with tools that are not for everyone. But if you pay what it costs and wait for it to be back ordered you are more than likely a committed photographer already. The filter can be used in a lot of scientific uses but I got it once I converted a full frame DSLR with still a lot of life ahead to full spectrum and got a very large set of filters to get the most of it shooting infrared and UV photography. So far it's been a great way to open new possibilities on creative photographic exploration.

[Glass] This is not a filter to have just for fun. First of all it requires you to have a Full spectrum conversion on your camera. Second of all it is for a very specific use and its price is no joke, so if you don't need it I would spend my money on something else I would use more. But in my case it's been a blast. I will use a lot more my converted camera now that I have it, and just getting started with experimenting out of the users manual I have a lot of ideas to work on with this filter.
The filter only lets through UV light so exposure compensation is required and even under bright sun you will more than likely shoot on a tripod, with high ISO using slow shutter speeds. This filter is a tool, not a toy.

[62 mm] Infrared takes a hole lot of experimenting. If you convert a camera I would say make a Full Spectrum Conversion. After that a full set of filters to se your options. This filter is one of the most user friendly filters you can get for it. Have fun with it if you get it.
