Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this unit work as a stand alone analogue to HDMI converter to use to feed a DataVideo HDR-1 mpr recorder maintaining legacy video 4x3 aspect ration with the black bars on the sides of the picture but not black bars above the picture (kind of like a letterbox) without connecting it to a computer or using the Motu's own recorder?

A: No it is not a stand-alone product.

Q: 2. I have an older Macbook Pro (around 2008). Will this work?I want to capture video from the component output of my old Sony HVR Z1U camcorder to 1080p in Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro.Will this do it?Many thanks.

A: Sorry update: Not my Macbook Pro. My Mac Pro (tower).Couldn't find a way to edit the original question.

Q: 3. Do you carry the other Nvidia ConnectX-6 and ConnectX-5 SKUs?

A: Currently, the HP NVIDIA Mellanox ConnectX-6 Lx Dual-Port 25G SFP28 Network Interface Card is the only model we carry in that line of cards.

Q: 4. Does this unit maintain the 4x3 shvs, composite and component 4x3 aspect ration when converted to HDMI?

A: The aspect ratio will remain 4:3: Default Mode: As explained in chapter 5, “HD Express Basics” (page 23), HD Express has two modes of operation: Capture and Playback. Your host video software determines the mode, depending on what you are doing (i.e. capturing or playing back the timeline). The Default Mode setting (Figure 6-1) lets you choose which mode the HD Express enters when the host relinquishes control over the HD Express hardware, such as when you quit or switch out of your host software. If you spend most of your time just monitoring or just capturing, operation will be faster if you set this to the mode you expect to use most. https://bit.ly/3w24jhS

Q: 5. Will this maintain original 4x3 aspect ratio from legacy video formats with the black bars on the sides (which is preferred) but without the black bars on the top and bottom (kind of like letterbox which I don't want) when used as a stand alone analogue to HDMI converter without using its own recording capability or hooking it up to a computer?

A: This device retains 4x3 aspect ratio with pillar bars (no letterbox needed for this aspect ratio), but ti does not function as a standalone unit.

Q: 6. I can use it as a monitor on real 5.1 final cut pro x ?

A: Yes, you can use the HD Express for 5.1 audio monitoring with FCPX.

Q: 7. How well does this work for leagacy video transfer from VHS without dropping frames or stopping at dropped frames?

A: The HD Express likely would have worked well for this application, but since MOTU is moving away from video interfaces, I can't in good faith recommend the HD Express due to its compatibility limitations: If you need further assistance, please contact customerservice@motu.com.

Q: 8. Is the PCIe HDMI card an HDMI-in ?

A: Sorry, but the answer is no. The PCI card is used only for connection to the interface. It does not pass a raw HDMI signal.

Q: 9. is the ethernet cable included?

A: Although the Evolis Primacy 2 Expert Single-Sided ID Card Printer comes with a USB cable, it DOES NOT come with an Ethernet cable.

Q: 10. Will this stream Ustream or Livestream and work with Sony Vegas?

A: No, as of right now this will only support Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 or higher on Mac OS Xand Adobe Premiere Pro 4.0.1 or higher on Windows 7 / Vista / XP.

[300 dpi] This printer was easy to set up and the quality of the prints are excellent - better than my expectations. I have not used the included software, I am exclusively printing predesigned cards from PDF files, but I've been fully satisfied. I'm printing relatively low volumes, so the fact that each card has to be individually fed into the unit isn't an issue and I appreciate the printer's compact size. If you're looking to print higher volumes of cards I might recommend a larger model with a feeder. I've also used this printer with the mono black ribbon and it works great as well.

[128 MB] We are a non-profit and needed a reasonably priced id card printer and this one is working great. We use AlphaCard card system. This is printer is basically plug-n-play. Make sire you install the drivers. The native Windows drivers do not play well AlphaCard card system.
