Celestron Nexstar 8se Telescope With Solar Filter Kit

Celestron Nexstar 8se Telescope With Solar Filter Kit
  • Product Code: eq136616
  • Availability: In Stock

$4,406.85 $6,257.73

Representing the largest aperture in the series and drawing in more light to see deeper into space than smaller versions, Celestron NexStar 8SE Telescope with Solar Filter Kitis a powerful yet portable scope that can be used for observing everything from the Moon and planets to deep-sky objects like stars, galaxies, and nebulae, while maintaining the user-friendly interface of the SE series. Using Celestron's proprietary StarBright XLT multi-coating system, light transmission is increased throughout the entire optical path with anti-reflection multi-coated lenses, highly reflective multi-coated mirrors, and crown optical glass elements. While the focal ratio is a relatively slow f/10, the mount's precision tracking system allows it to be a competent shorter-exposure astrophotography imaging platform for the Moon and planets.

Driving the dual servo motors on the mount is the brain of the NexStar 8SE: The iconic NexStar+ computer hand controller. Packed with 40,000+ celestial objects, it can hold up to 100 additional user-defined destinations and is updatable via the Celestron website. It has multiple alignment procedures to get you observing fast, including the super-easy SkyAlign system. Capable of being used in the northern or southern hemispheres, the NexStar has sidereal, lunar, and solar tracking speeds to accurately follow near and deep-sky objects, plus nine slew speeds and the ability to automatically trigger a camera's shutter release for Fastar or piggyback wide-field photography or conventional prime-focus astrophotography.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. how does the wifi work? and is there a wedge that can be used for long exposure?

A: The Celestron SkyPortal WiFi Module that is included with this kit plugs into the Hand Control or AUX port and begins to generate it's own WiFi signal to directly connect to your mobile device without the need for a router. The SkyPortal module works in conjunction with the free SkyPortal mobile app available for iOS and Android devices. The app features a database of over 100,000 objects with astroimages and audio descriptions of hundreds of them including the history, mythology, and key features of them. It can assist with the telescope alignment and if you hold the screen up to sky, it will identify the objects based on your location, date, and time. The Celestron EQ Wedge for NexStar 6/8SE Evolution Telescopes would be the recommended wedge for this telescope: https://bhpho.to/2PfVBIX

Q: 2. I would like to know what I need to mount my Canon 80D to this Celestron 6se? Thanks!

A: You will need a Celestron T-Adapter for Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes #93633-A and a T-Ring for Canon EOS Camera #93419. Sincerely, Garrett at Celestron

Q: 3. Can a Nikon Z-mount camera be attached to the Celestron NexStar 130 SLT?

A: To connect a Nikon Z series camera to the Celestron NexStar 130SLT 130mm f/5 Reflector Telescope you would need these 2 parts: https://bit.ly/4aUAgxJ and a T-mount adapter such as this: https://bit.ly/48qhxsd.

Q: 4. I would like to know what I need to mount my Canon 5D mk III to this Celestron 6se. Thanks!

A: You will need a Canon T-Ring #93419, and a Celestron SCT T-Adapter #93633-A. Sincerely, Garret at Celestron

Q: 5. I currently have an Orion Spaceprobe 130 ST which I am just learning to use. I am taking an astronomy class which uses Celestron NexStar 5 SE scopes, which I really like. I am sure that I will be buying a NexStar in the next year. I really like the idea of the computer finding objects for me while I am learning the sky. Right now, I am trying to decide between a NexStar 6 or NexStar 8. My major interests are deep sky objects and binary stars. I am not interested in astrophotography. I know the major tradeoffs are aperture and portability. Any suggestions for me in guiding my choice?

A: Honestly I would go with the bigger aperture. Especially since you are going to be shooting some Astrophotography. Personally I would do the 8 Model. It's the better option hands down.

Q: 6. Can this telescope clearly focus upon terrestrial objects?

A: Yes the NexStar 8se can be used on land using this Celestron 45-Degree Erect Diagonal: https://bhpho.to/3TZMQTN

Q: 7. Can the OTA be used with a different mount?

A: Absolutely. The OTA of this tube removes from the base of the SE mount easily. You could then attach the 8 Inch OTA to any other mount that excepts a standard V Style dovetail.

Q: 8. What is needed to mount a Sony a77 mark 2 DSLR camera to the celestron 6se tripod? Thanks!

A: The A77 Mark II is an A Mount Lens. Here is the Vello T Mount Lens to Sony A-Mount Camera Adapter, BH #VELASAT. https://bhpho.to/311LRJn

Q: 9. What are the dimensions of the package?

A: Hi Manuel, The telescope box dimensions are: (LxWxH) 32.0" x 26.0" x 13.0" Sincerely, Garrett at Celestron

Q: 10. How well does the wedge option work? I would like to occasionally take long video clips to stack into one image. I'd get an EQ mount but it seems like a hassle.

A: Very well. Adding a Wedge for the NexStar 6/8SE #93665, will allow the mount to track equatorially, thereby eliminating field rotation for long exposure astrophotography. This wedge was tailored for the NexStar SE's size and styling and provides a stable platform.

[203.2mm] This is a great scope for the price. If you are new to astronomy or have a scope and are moving up you won't be disapointed. This kit is well worth the price , it only costs about 50 dollars more than the scope alone and you get about 300 dollars worth of accessories, well worth athe price. I highly recomend this scope and accessory kit.

[StarPointer] Finally got this big boy out after sitting in the room for two weeks, been cloudy and rainy for so long. Was fading to dark about 5:00pm when I got home and the sky was clear and the three quarter moon was bright. Haven't had a chance to align scope yet so used hand controller to look at moon. First views were very impressive, haven't seen the moon thru a telescope for about forty years. The clarity of this scope seems pretty impressive. Forgot how fast the moon and starts move out of view. Tried my new cell phone adapter as well that night and those pictures aren't bad for the first time, will be trying my camera next. You certainly will need a very still platform and no movement when looking thru these scopes. I ordered a cover for this to use when viewing, it was in the low forties and the tube was getting very cold. Looking at possibly ordering the pads to put the feet on to help with vibrations. So far scope seems very nice and well built, can't wait for warmer and clearer nights to come. -Bill-

[42 x 24 x 13"] Honestly, I don't know if I can make this a short review. There is so much to say! Been waiting months for this Celestron to come back in stock and when it did I had to jump on it fast. Not only that but being a new skywatcher, I needed some help. So with the help of B&H's online tech support (Dan.W), he was able to help me navigate all the accessories I needed to to astrophotography. B&H has and always comes through for all my needs, being cameras, telescopes, or just tech support. They are really just a click away. Thank you B&H! Thank you Celestron!

[203.2mm] This is my first telescope and I'm not disappointed. I wanted to get the capabilities of a top-end telescope without breaking the bank. This combo gives most all of what you need to have fun and expand into a great hobby. I am happy with the decision not to spend $400 or $4,000 as I was pondering. This hits the spot. Very happy with this combo and the help from B&H.
