Engineered to deliver sharp and clear distortion-free views, the Celestron EdgeHD CGE Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope with Solar Filteris an ideal choice for observation, astrophotography, and imaging objects within or beyond our solar system. It features an aplanatic Schmidt-Cassegrain optical system consisting of a corrector plate, a spherical primary mirror, and a secondary mirror along with a set of field-flattening lenses integrated into the baffle tube. Complementing the EdgeHD system is the proprietary StarBright XLT optical coating system, which improves light transmission and reflectivity across the entire visual spectrum. The combination of EdgeHD and StarBright XLT produces bright and clear high-resolution images with true color rendition across the entire field of view without distortion, aberrations, or off-axis comas.

Optimized for imaging, the internal focusing system features mirror support clutches to ensure proper alignment and mirror locks to avoid accidental defocusing during long-exposure astrophotography. The optical tube is outfitted with a standard 1.25" visual back to make it easier to find eyepieces, accessories, and imaging gear. For visual observations, a 1.25" star diagonal is included along with a 40mm Plössl eyepiece that yields 51x magnification. The EdgeHD 8" is offered here without a mount or tripod for users who already have a reliable support system and are looking to upgrade or add to their existing gear, but comes with a large CGE dovetail plate that is compatible with Losmandy-style saddles.

Q: 9. I currently have an Orion Spaceprobe 130 ST which I am just learning to use. I am taking an astronomy class which uses Celestron NexStar 5 SE scopes, which I really like. I am sure that I will be buying a NexStar in the next year. I really like the idea of the computer finding objects for me while I am learning the sky. Right now, I am trying to decide between a NexStar 6 or NexStar 8. My major interests are deep sky objects and binary stars. I am not interested in astrophotography. I know the major tradeoffs are aperture and portability. Any suggestions for me in guiding my choice?

A: Honestly I would go with the bigger aperture. Especially since you are going to be shooting some Astrophotography. Personally I would do the 8 Model. It's the better option hands down.

[22 lb] After ten years using a dobsonian scope I decided to go back to a go-to SCT. I previously owned a Meade LX-90 so I'm familiar with this style telescope. Knowing Celestron's good reputation I chose the NexStar Evolution 8. The scope arrived very well packed and has very high quality construction. I've not yet had a chance to use it outdoors (cloudy, rainy winter weather). I was extremely impressed with the FedEx expedited shipping B&H provided, free of charge. Best shipping of any vendor I checked with.

[22 lb] I have been using this scope for about 10 months. My last telescope was a cheap Costco dob, so this is my first real telescope.

It says culminated, connects quickly to wifi, is fairly stable in light wind, and is very easy to setup. I keep the tripod in a large tripod bag and the telescope in a large pelican case. With this combination, I can safely take this scope anywhere in a modestly portable setup.

Everything seems well bad and it hasn't had any issues in my 30+ observing sessions.

Go-to is very accurate if you do 3 star alignment and then add stars via the app. It can slew across the whole sky and land dead on to a target.

My biggest issue, as many have said, is the red dot finder. It is cheap and even as a fit young man, it is a pain on my back to look through if I need to align to something high in the sky. For the money, they should include a better finder. A RACI finder is my next accessory and should have been included.

All in all, I love this thing!

[26 x 16 x 14"] Used the scope about 5 times so far. Very easy to align with the hand controller using 2 star. The Sky align seems to fail for me but it could be because I have a limited view of the sky and stars aren't far apart. Hard to tell.

Instructions are lacking and app isn't great, but the tracking, optics, and form factor are so great that I am willing to overlook those issues.

So far so good!

[None] Overall, a very good telescope. Bought it primarily to host starparties for the public. Easy set up and alignment to enable viewing as soon as possible. Sharp celestron optics which I expected. Have used it only few times and I am pleased thus far. My only criticism at this point is the eyepiece connection at base of OTA. There are only 2 small screws to secure the eyepiece. I was disappointed that there is no constriction band on the inside for better connection. But, so far, the eyepieces seem secure anyway. Telescope components are easily transportable.

[None] This is one great scope i have been debating between the 9 .25 and the 8mt HQ5 skywatcher mount would not handle the 9.25 as it 's weight is beyond what the mount can handle but no problem with the 8 i got some nice views of m15,m31 Jupiter and mars everything works smoothly optic are great and it weight's only 13 pounds more power then you need great for both Plants and deep sky wiewing
