The Fuxi X-mount Sirui Saturn 35mm T2.9 Anamorphic Lens FUJIFILM Xfrom Sirui Saturn 35mm T2.9 Anamorphic Lens FUJIFILM Xprovides a classic anamorphic look in a compact, lightweight form. Ideal for gimbal, stabilizer, drone, and handheld use, this lens produces a wider look equivalent to a 22mm spherical full-frame field of view. It measures only 4.1" in length and features a carbon fiber barrel that reduces the weight of the lens. The lens produces horizontal neutral streaks when pointed at a light source, giving your footage a classic anamorphic look.

An image captured in 16:9 is de-squeezed to an anamorphic 2.8:1 aspect ratio, whereas shooting in 3:2 yields a 2.4:1 final image. The T2.9 aperture produces a shallow depth of field, separating your subject from the foreground, and the 10-blade aperture creates oval bokeh effects.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a way to desqueeze the photo while shooting outdoor; a specific monitor with 1.6 desqueeze factor.

A: When shooting outdoors with the Sirui 35mm T2.9 1.6x Full-Frame Anamorphic Lens (Sony E), displays that have a custom de-squeeze feature, like the PORTKEYS LH7P (B&H # POLH7PB), would allow for a 1.6 setting. This feature offers anamorphic image de-squeeze with all the standard ratios (i.e. 1.33x, 1.5x, and 2.0x) and the possibility to enter a custom aspect ratio from 0.25 to 4.0x.

Q: 2. What is the difference between this Sirui 35mm T2.9 1.6x and The SIRUI Saturn 35mm Full-frame Carbon Fiber Anamorphic Lens?

A: The original version of the Sirui 35mm T2.9 1.6x anamorphic lens (#SIVENUSL35) was constructed with aluminum alloy, versus the carbon fiber construction on the newer model (#SISATURNL35N).

Q: 3. Is there any difference optically between this version and the venus? Smaller, lighter and cheaper so what's the catch?

A: Sirui and Laowa are completely different lens makers, so there are certainly differences. To determine the main optical differences, it is suggested to reach out to the manufacturers to get more technical data for them.

Q: 4. With the DL Mount, are the iris and focus controls on the Ronin 4D compatible with these lenses (without the DJI motor)?

A: No, the lenses in the Sirui Saturn T2.9 1.6x Carbon Fiber Full-Frame Anamorphic 2-Lens Set (DJI DL, Neutral Flare) are manual lenses, so you would need to use an external motor to remotely manipulate the focus and iris.

Q: 5. This lens will work in croped cameras as Sony FX30, it will perform normally being just the smaller FOV the only issue?

A: The Sirui 35mm T2.9 1.6x Full-Frame Anamorphic Lens (Sony E) is compatible with full frame sensors, as well as any other sensor, smaller than full frame. On a Sony FX30, this lens would act approximately as if used on a super 35mm sensor.

Q: 6. Does this lens squeeze factor change due to where it is in the focus throw?

A: The squeeze is always consistent on the Sirui SATURN Anamorphic 35mm T2.9. The image circle will never change. When you capture video at 16:9, it will desqueeze to an anamorphic 2.8:1 aspect ratio. When you capture at 3:2, it will desqueeze to an anamorphic 2.4:1 aspect ratio.

Q: 7. Is this compatible with the canon C70 which which has a super 35 sensor?

A: Yes, the Sirui Saturn 35mm T2.9 1.6x Carbon Fiber Full-Frame Anamorphic Lens (RF Mount, Neutral Flare) would work with the S35 sensor and RF mount of the Canon C70 camera.

Q: 8. Does the lens have autofocus? wondering if it'll work with the DJI gimbal focus wheel

A: No, the Sirui Saturn 35mm T2.9 1.6x Carbon Fiber Full-Frame Anamorphic Lens has no autofocus or any electronical communication with the camera it is mounted to.

Q: 9. Since this lens covers a APSC field of view, if I mount it on a micro 4/3 sensor, what will the equivalent field of view be (top to bottom). Will it basically show me what a 100mm would show in full frame? Trying to decide if I need the 50mm or the 35mm version of this lens for

A: On a Micro Four Thirds sensor the top to bottom field of view would match a 100mm lens on a full frame sensor. The 35mm lens would likewise match a 70mm on a full frame.

Q: 10. I see the thread diameter is 62 but on other online shops, I see this exact lens has on of 58 inches. Can you clarify?

A: The Sirui Saturn 50mm T2.9 1.6x Carbon Fiber Full-Frame Anamorphic Lens (Sony E, Neutral Flare) has a filter size of 62mm, which is laser etched into the lens.

[58 mm x 0.75] .I would characterize myself as an amateur filmmaker, or at least a serious hobbyist, who has had no experience with cinematic lenses. This lens was an absolute blast to experiment with. It's a solidly built metal body, with smooth-turning geared focus and aperture rings. It is manual focus, but with the use of focus peaking, very sharp images can be achieved. Not coming from a cinema background, T-stops are a bit mysterious to me, but the wide T2.9 aperture (which I've read is roughly equivalent to f2.1) allows lower ISOs in low light conditions. A nice bonus is the inclusion of a lens pouch. For an example from my first shoot with this lens, visit https://youtu.be/462z64lIzUc. I look forward to playing much more with this fun lens.

[Full Frame] The results of the Anamorphic lens on the R5c are amazing. The lens has the right amount of sharpness. The bokeh and the lens flares add a nice look to your film. I plan on buying the 75mm version when it is released :)

[1:40.08] Few people understand what does it mean anmorphic , with this full frame anmorphic you can enjoy with really depth of field as 50mm and wide view as wide angle after De-Squeeze

This is a sharp lens , with videos gears like a high class but there is a disadvantage in the not correct horizon level in the corners , but i can accept that in this lens price , it is like a gift from suriu .

With 8k you can crop and get the good video , so its highly recommend if you have 8k or 6k

[FUJIFILM X] This lens is awesome, and produces clean images with real cinematic effects. I have the entire set (35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, 135mm, 150mm plus the 1.25 adapter that produces a 2x squeeze when paired with the 1.6x anamorphic squeeze of the lenses). The lenses produce uniform colors all throughout the set, and images are sharp wide open at T2.9. Somehow SIRUI has managed to make these primes sharp wide open, but not too sharp, given you that movie like look without any diffusion filters on the front of your lens. If you haven't tried the anamorphic look, you have no idea what your projects are missing. As result of purchasing this set, my G Masters and spherical Cine primes are collecting dust. The SIRUI 1.6x T 2.9 Venus Anamorphic lenses are a great set of glass.

[58 mm x 0.75] Excellent budget anamorphic lens. It works exceptionally well with my Sony A7sIII full frame camera. The Viltrox DC-X3 on camera monitor just complements the whole setup. It has exec 1.6 de-squeeze factor to help you compose every shot.
