The Gra-Vue XIO 9020ENS-4AUD SD-SDI to Dual Composite Video & Audio Converter with Frame Sync is a modular converter card designed to be used in either the XIO 1U or 3U Modular Platform Chassis (sold separately). It converts one SDI signal (625i 50 and 525i 60) to 2 analog composite video signals and also outputs one SDI loop signal. The output signals go through frame sync processing. In addition, 2 analog stereo audio signals are extracted from the SDI input. This de-embedded audio can be selected by a DIP switch to be used as input for crossing output, mixing output, and other similar applications.

The XIO 9020ENS-4AUD Converter provides automatic signal equalization for long cable applications (up to 656’ over Belden 1694A). This improves the signal quality and reduces the signal loss caused due to long distance transmission of the input source. The LED lights on the module indicate the status of the input signal and power supply to let you know the signal and power status immediately. The converter also supports SNMP, and can be real-time managed and monitored by the XIO NET Network Management Module (sold separately) via Ethernet.

A: Yes, the attached power adapter is included in the box.

Q: 2. what is voltage amplification per channel?

A: The power consumption of the unit is listed as Power Consumption12 VDC, 1.5 A. Unfortunately, Gar-Vue doe not list the voltage amplification per channel.

Q: 3. What is the latency between the SDI video and analogue audio?

A: According to Blackmagic Design, the Mini Converter SDI to HDMI has a delay of less than a single line of video, except when it needs to convert PsF to P, which will take one frame. The Analog to SDI has a four line delay.

Q: 4. Does this Device support SMPTE Level B? In other words, does this Device Support BlackMagic gear? No mention of either in Manufacturer's PDF.

A: The DMON-4S supports Level A and Level B at 3G so it will work with Blackmagic products. It also allows conversion between both levels.

Q: 5. Will this convert S-Video?

A: Yes, this product can be used with to convert Component, Composite or S-Video.

Q: 6. I see there are mini switches on this, what numbers to do you have on?

A: Hi Maria -Assuming that you want Analog audio out, leave all the DIP switches off. If you want digital audio out (AES) the switch positions are silkscreened on the unit. Just a note: Some Blackmagic mini converters use one switch for processing on or off which you'll need in the on position for the unit to work. This doesn't apply to this one (SDI to Audio) but to some of the others available in this product line.

Q: 7. Filming with an ARRI sr2 - will this convert a film video tap to digital?

A: I would be a millionaire if I had a dollar for every foot of film I ran through Arriflex SR cameras. So while I have not tested this set up, the specs sound right. The Arri's video tap, possibly a Transvideo product, outputs a Composite signal through a BNC connection. Connect the tap to the converter and it should work just fine in making a digital signal.

Q: 8. will this unit upgrade the analog signal to 720 or 1080 sdi?

A: cannot change the resolution, 720 to 720 or 1080 to 1080

Q: 9. Hi, Is there any information about the video latency ?

A: A latency specification is not published, but we expect it to be negligible since this is product is designed for broadcast use,.

Q: 10. Can I use this product to do external video monitoring with Avid Media Composer 8?

A: NLE, Non-Linear Editing programs, are not meant to be used in such fashion. We would suspect if it were even possible to see live video, it would not be a reliable connection. We recommend sending the video signal to a proper monitor.

[24 dBu (0 dBFs)] Like the other Blackmagic Mini Converters it's a simple solution. Not unlike it's counterparts the USB connection offers some good controls like level sliders for each input. A great feature of these and the other BM Mini Converters with audio inputs is not only the ability to take in AES but when in that mode they can also accept coaxial SPDIF with a simple rca to 1/4" adapter. 5

It’s such a convenient tool for anyone working with SDI equipment but needing to connect to HDMI gear like monitors or computers. I’ve used it to convert SDI signals from a camera to my HDMI monitor, and it’s super easy...just plug in, and you're good to go. It has worked flawlessly for me. [1.6 lb] How nice it is when you plug a device in and it works - right out of the box. This converter is being used in our TV studio to convert HD-SDI to use in our new HDMI-only smart TV. Brilliant sound and picture with no additional latency noticeable. The converter runs cool and after a week has had no glitches. 5
