The KM02 uses a VEML7700 ambient light, 16-bit, digital resolution sensor. The upgraded software ensures high accuracy, reliability, and combined with a 50mm lens view, a balance between average and selective metering.

The KM02's aperture, shutter speed, and ISO stops are all customizable to meet the needs of your different cameras and lenses. With full, half, and third stops, the KM02 is easy to operate and capable of more accurate readings. Settings can be saved for up to 3 cameras/lenses.

The maximum/minimum aperture and shutter speed value can be set according to your individual cameras and lenses. This prevents the meter from displaying unnecessary readings.

The exposure compensation feature allows you to manually adjust the exposure from -3EV to +3EV in 1/3 increments.

The KM02 comes with three different sizes of aluminum shoe mounts and has 5 different shoe mount positions. This level of versatility allows you to mount it with a bias to the right or the left. This enables the KM02 to be fitted on any camera with ease.

  • Continuous Metering Mode: Light-meter reading will update constantly with data refresh at every 0.6s
  • Single Metering Mode: Single click the metering button to take a new reading

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This meter is used for both incident and reflected light metering purposes. I know that all handheld light meters measure incident light, but I don't understand why this meter is needed for reflected light measurements. The camera's built-in light meter is much quicker and easier to use for a reflected reading. What is the purpose of taking a reflected reading from a handheld light meter?

A: Light meters were designed long before there were meters in any cameras; since some people still like to use a hand-held meter, there was no reason to remove a capability that was already built in.

Q: 2. Can the f stop be changed to t? Thank you.

A: Light meters like the Keks KM02 OLED Light Meter will only list the aperture in F stops.

Q: 3. Thinking of getting a KEKS KM-Q for my Yashica Mat 124 TLR. Which one should give me ease of use, Back Display or Top Display?

A: The Keks KM-Q Light Meter with Back Display (Chrome) is best for the Yashica Mat 124 Twin-Lens Reflex.

Q: 4. Can you set the aperture of your camera and have it give you the shutter speed? With my old meter I can only set shutter and not f stop.

A: Yes you can set the aperture

Q: 5. What is in the box?

A: The actual light meter, a USB-C cable, three different size shoe mounts (aluminum shoe mount included), and a limited 1-year manufacturer warranty are included with the Keks KM02 OLED Light Meter (Black), B&H # KEKSKM02B.

Q: 6. it says it has a sliding lumidisk. I am reading answers on the Q&A that you need to buy a the $30 lumisphere. What is the difference between the two and do you really need to buy the extra part? Please un-confuse me so I can buy this correctly!!

A: The lumidisk is sold as a replacement or spare. You do not need to purchase it to use the light meter.

Q: 7. Does this meter tell you light temperature as well? i.e. 3200, 5600, etc

A: No, the Sekonic L-308X-U Flashmate Light Meter is not a color meter and does not measure the light Kelvin temperature output. If you are trying to measure color temperature, I would recommend the Sekonic C-700-U SpectroMaster Color Meter, B&H # SEC700U, the Kenko KCM-3100 Professional Color Temperature Meter, B&H # KECM3100, or the Illuminati Instrument Light and Color Meter, B&H # ILIM100, for your usage needs.

Q: 8. Would it be able to do a cordless setup with the new Godox XProS TTL Wireless Flash Trigger?

A: Handheld light meters measure light, therefore nothing to trigger. Regardless of the light brand or model, once you trigger the lights (via a wired or wireless transmitter) the Sekonic will give you a measurement. You will need to imput ISO and decide what kind of measurement you want, i.e. f stop or shutter speed. Set the Sekonic to read flash and place it in front of your subject with the dome aimed toward the light source. The display will show ISO, f stop and shutter speed once the flash has been triggered.

Q: 9. What is the lowest ISO rating this can measure?

A: The lowest ISO the Keks KM02 OLED Light Meter can measure is six.

Q: 10. What is the highest ISO?

A: The highest ISO reading is 8000.

[30° Spot] Awesome light meter. When comparing the exposure to my D810, it is spot on. The meter is broken in my mamiya 1000 so having this on the top is a fast and easy way to get the correct exposure. Great design and fits in well with the aesthetics of the camera. Would definitely purchase again.

[Spot] Incident light metering for high contrast subjects, when reflected light throws off the meter.

[30° Spot] Just recently received but find the meter to be very accurate. Very quick on start up ... low profile ... on a Leica gives a totally clear view of shutter speed dial and very easy to understand menu. I would highly recommend!

[30° Spot] We have been using Sekonic meters for over 30 years. The Sekonic L-858D-U gives the maximum amount of flexibility while using Elinchrom lights and also when doing Macro photography using the Skyport Receiver Plus to trigger our Nikon Z9 camera while using ringlights.

[Reflected] If you want to get your exposure down, this is the product. And B&H has good prices and a great inventory.

[Reflected] I have been using my mk1 EM01 for 3 years now and finally upgraded to the KM02.
The built quality of the KM02 is top notch, feels solid and unbreakable!
The battery last very long, I saw some comments complained about the battery life, I guess it might be they charged with the new type double USB C, which I made the same mistake before. After emailing them, they advised me to use the factory cable and now it holds the charge very long.
Overall, the experience is very good, the new model added many features (Some are very useful to me and some I never really needed) The new model feels more user friendly and easier to use.
I have also tested it side by side with my Leica Q and the metering results is perfect, the Keks meter is definitely something I will rely on rather than my phone app. Highly recommend!

[Spot] Takes a little to get used to the buttons but works extremely well for someone as new as me that got into film and was alittle hesitant and confused on what shutter speed to use in different lighting conditions.

[Lux] I have been using this meter for quite some time now on my various mechanical film cameras with excellent results. simply set your ISO and either aperture priority or shutter priority and press the round button to take a reading. As simple as that! After dozens of rolls of both black and white and color film Ive found that the meter does a excellent job giving accurate exposure results. If you are a avid shooter using older cameras which do not have a meter this is the meter for you!
