Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What material is this made with?

A: The ball is metal and the top disc and locking knob are plastic.

Q: 2. Can I mount a 16 stud to this using a 1/4 -20 -16 female thread adapter to the top of this ball head ?

A: Yes.

Q: 3. Hi, I had Oben TT-100 table top mini tripod supplied with Oben BD-1, but recently I lost the ball head. But Oben BD-1 Ball head model is not available separately for sale. Now I want to purchase Oben BD-0 mini ball head. what is the difference between Oben BD-0 and Oben BD-1 model . Thanks

A: The main difference between the Oben BD-1 Mini Ball Head and the Oben BD-0 Mini Ball Head is the load capacity; the Oben BD-0 Mini Ball Head is stronger, supporting up to 6.6 lbs, while the Oben BD-1 only supported 4 lbs. The BD-0 is also lighter in weight. Otherwise, the two would be similar in size and performance.

Q: 4. Why is the Cardellini Manfrotto 492 Ball head more expensive than the Manfrotto 492 micro ball head?

A: The Cardellini Manfrotto 492 Micro Ball Head with Mic Clamp would be a combination of two different products from two different manufacturers, whereas the Manfrotto 492 Micro Ball Head (sold by itself) is a single item from a single manufacturer. As such, the Cardellini Manfrotto 492 Micro Ball Head with Mic Clamp would be higher in price compared to the ball head sold by itself.

Q: 5. Which country is this made in?

A: The PGYTECH MINI Reverse Ball Head country of origin is China.

Q: 6. Would this be good for a 2.5 lb Nikon P950 on a monopod?

A: Yes it would hold a Nikon P950 on a monopod.

Q: 7. Can the platform be removed by unscrewing, or is it fixed in place?

A: If you are referring to the shoe mount on the bottom, yes that can be removed as shown in this photo on our website. https://bit.ly/2UOHBKH

Q: 8. What would be the reasons for choosing this ball head over the similar Oben bd-02?

A: Both the Oben BD-0 Mini Ball Head, B&H # OBBD0, and the Oben BD-02 Mini Ball Head, B&H # OBBD02, are very similar. The main difference between the two items is the BD-0 Mini Ball Head has a slim profile platform on the top of the tripod head, while the Oben BD-02 Mini Ball Head has a wide platform on the top of the camera. While both may be used with cameras as long as they are under the maximum load capacity, I would personally recommend the BD-0 for small, lightweight, and slim cameras, hot shoe flashes, LED lights, or other small, lightweight fixtures that use the standard 1/4"-20 tripod connector. The BD-02 with its wider platform would be better for larger cameras such as point-and-shoot super-zoom cameras, larger advanced point-and-shoot, mirrorless, or DSLR cameras, and larger camera accessories that use the standard 1/4"-20 tripod connector and which would benefit from better connection from the wide platform.

Q: 9. What is the height from the base to the mounting area?

A: It is approximately 2 inches.

Q: 10. Can this be used, effectively, to mount an AX53 and Rode VideoMic Pro on a Selfie Stick? Can the ball head handle the weight? Can it be tightened properly?

A: The Oben BD-0 Mini Ball Head has a maximum load capacity of 6.6 lbs. The Rode VideoMic Pro Compact Directional On-Camera Microphone only weighs 3 oz (0.19 lbs), so the Oben BD-0 Mini Ball Head would easily handle the weight of the microphone. As the de VideoMic Pro Compact Directional On-Camera Microphone has a 3/8 -16 thread on the bottom for use on boom poles and audio equipment, you would also need to purchase the Oben 3/8 -16 to 1/4 -20 Reducer Bushing, B&H # OB1039, which would allow you to connect the microphone to the ball head.

[Round] There are many mounts available with a clamp and goose neck for webcams. In fact, I replaced one with this Oben desk stand and it is SO much better! It is easier to precisely position and is 100% stable. It is made from quality materials at a good price. I am completely satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend it.

[Grip Head] I bought this for a very specific, maybe novel purpose, but its design makes it remarkably versatile for a number of applications. I added a 3/8 screw adapter to the top so that I can screw that into one handle of my compact, 5-surface diffuser/reflector. With the CAMVATE, I can now hang the reflector from my light stand and even tilt the reflector bottom out and up somewhat when needed. It's study but light enough to carry right in the reflector case.

[2.75 lb] This review is for the Oben aluminum desk stand. I use it in conjunction with the Insta360 4k webcam. Decided to use this combination to put the webcam in the middle of my 43'' monitor for improved screen presentation in business meetings. The base is wide and heavy and there's been no tilting or risk of falling over when I move the stand. I am happy with the purchase.

[Round] I use this for putting a DJI Action 1, 2 or 3 up high on a light stand. I wouldn't recommend using it with anything heavier than a mirrorless camera like a Canon EOS-R

[Steel] it's a simple item, it works. My light stands didn't have threads, now they do.
