[72 mm (Front)] I got this to replace my 24-105mm as a hiking combo along with the new 70-200mm f/4 II. Haven't had it out on a hike yet, but first tests results are good. Overall much lighter than my old set up which included the 100-400mm, which is important for me doing overnight hikes with lots of elevation gain here in the Cascades. 5

[Autofocus] See also: my review of the Sony A7CR. I just acquired this lens to use with the new Sony A7CR--to capitalize on its 60mp sensor via crop-zooming--and use this lens in place of the Sony/Zeiss 16-35mm and Sony G 24-105--which it does spectacularly well. This is a 17 ounce replacement for the combined weight of 44 ounces for the other two. Pretty good swap. The various high-praise reviews of this lens are accurate. It is sharp across the field including the corners--better in all respects than the 24-105, which is actually a very good lens. But this is better. Several other reviews report circular distortions and vignetting. The A7CR has Lens Distortion Compensation (buried somewhere in the menu) and it comes with the default set to Auto--meaning ON--and that seems to take care of virtually all the distortion. Maybe a small amount of barrel adjustment required at 20mm. I haven't used it enough yet to determine. I haven't been this excited and pleased about a camera or lens since the Sony NEX-7 in 2011...and then, a little later, the Sony A7Rii. Just a great, great lens!!! 5

[72 mm (Front)] I bought this as a travel lens it is very light, compact and has the focal lengths I use when traveling. It is not a fast lens but it is more than adequate as I generally shoot with an aperture at 8 or 11. I f you need a bit more reach you can always use cropped frame. Since I use the Sony 7R4/7R5, I still have plenty of resolution when using this lens. I already own the 24-105 lens but I find this lens more useful as it has a much smaller footprint. 5

[72 mm (Front)] I am presently using the Sony 20-70 G lens for a light everyday walk around lens to compliment my Tamron 35-150. I was using the Tamron 20-40, but it just didn't work for me, especially in video. It would go out of focus while zooming in and out. This new Sony is outstanding when it comes to video. For photography, the IQ is also top notch. It's loaded with features that more expensive newer GM's lenses have like my 14, 24, and 35 GM's I own. A great purchase! 5

[9, Rounded] Purchased this to air up to an A7R5. Every generation of Sony G lenses gets exponentially better and this is no exception. Compared to the 24-105, far better sharpness, colors, contrast and most of all WEIGHT! Will I miss reaching out to105mm? With 61MP available, probably not. If you are on the fence and using a A7Rx series body, I would not hesitate to try one out and I think you will be pleasantly surprised! Two thumbs up! 5

[Full-Frame] I'm new to Sony mirrorless cameras and jumped in the deep end with an A7RV. This lens was chosen for its relative compactness and suitability for travel and landscape photography. So far I'm impressed with how sharp are the images, which therefore allows me to crop from the 60 MP sensor. I've tried a few night shots (on a tripod) and been pleasantly impressed. And lastly the 20mm wide end does give me some great landscapes. 5
