    • Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I assume this hood attaches to the lens like the drop-in filter ring does. Can drop in filters still be used with this?

A: Unfortunately the FotodioX Lens Hood for Hasselblad 50mm Distagon C cannot be used with drop in filters.

Q: 2. Does this lens hood fit the Zeiss ZM 35mm 1.4?

A: Yes, this will fit the Zeiss ZM 35mm 1.4 because it is designed for a 49mm filter thread.

Q: 3. this one can work with x1d mark 2?

A: Yes, the FotodioX Leica M-Mount Lens to Hasselblad XCD-Mount Camera Adapter works with the X1D Mark II. Be aware that using a 50mm lens or wider will introduce vignetting.

Q: 4. Is this tool also for the new Orange Dot Hasselblad lenses of just older lenses?

A: This tool is specific to older Hasselblad V system lenses which have a leaf shutter in them.

Q: 5. What's the lens crop factor ?Any lens vignette ?Is there a lens lock switch to prevent lens falling out of the adapter ?

A: I would suggest dropping crop factor. Calculating what the Angle of View is for a format you are not using does not make sense if you do it all the time. It is far better to learn what the mm lengths are for normal-wide-tele for the sensor you are using. Since the mm of a lens does not physically, change you can then tell at a glance what the perspective will be. But to answer your question, since you are going from a larger film format 63 x 63mm, to a smaller digital format, 43.8 x 32.9mm, the perspective change, or crop factor is 1.4. Lens vignetting will depend on the lens. The wider you go the greater the chance. However, we do not know offhand of any lens that would vignette with this set up. Finally, as in all lens mounts that are not screw-in, there is a catch you must release in order to dismount the lens.

Q: 6. Will this fit lenses with a 49mm threaded filter mount?

A: It all depends on the bayonet shape and where it locks in. This will work for the 35 f/2.8, but fit with other lenses varies.

Q: 7. does the lens vignette with this hood attached?

A: This lens hood would not cause vignetting on the Hasselblad C Distagon 50mm Lens.

Q: 8. I would like to use this with my Ricoh GR3 - will this lens hood fit the 49mm threaded attachment?

A: No this will not work with the Ricoh GR III. This hood uses a Bayonet mount not a 49mm threaded mount.

      Q: 9. Does this fits Sony RX1?

A: Sorry, but I don't know the answer to this question. I purchased this for Zeiss optics on a Sony A7-IIR

Q: 10. Can the tripod foot be unbolted from the mount adapter for hand-held use?

A: We are not aware of it being removable.

[Plastic] What seems to be a common problem for Hasselblad 50X cameras & lenses. The coupling lock mechanisms with get out of synch and need to be reset. This tool is a life-safer as it allows you to reset the locks and continue shooting. I highly recommend keeping one in your camera bag at all times.

[0.15 lb] Product is as described.
Solid, hefty build.
Much safer than using a screw driver to unjam or reset the shutter mechanism on Hasselblad lens.

[0.15 lb] If you shoot with a Hasselblad 500 series camera on a regular basis, there will always be some point where you need to manually wind up the lens or bellows or extension tube manually to synchronize the couplings when you put them back together. This tool has both sizes needed and fits securely over the coupling, makes it a simple job.

[0.15 lb] I expected a cheap-o flimsy generic piece that would work, just not very impressively. Well, I was mistaken. I have a real Hasselblad hood also, and this one is actually a little nicer. Metal contruction feels solid, threads are perfect, very high quality piece at a very low price. This is my second Fotodiox product and so far I'm very happy with the quality of their equipment, far beyond its price point.

[Bayonet] I've come across two lenses with rear elements scratched badly because owners used screwdrivers instead of this tool. This is a must-have tool if you own one of the older Hasselblad film cameras.

Because of the way the tool is made (it has two sides: for lens and body), it's harder to use than a screwdriver with a handle. Nonetheless, using this tool, you are unlikely to scratch the lens if you need to unjam the body or cock the shutter.

I bought two tools; one arrived a bit rusted, and B&H replaced it. Overall, I'm thrilled I found it and have it with my camera on a photo walks.

[0.15 lb] The Hasselblad 500 CM is a great camera and is totally analogue. No electrical components at all. It is truly a precision machine. However, there are times when the camera locks up - when the lens has been released and the camera body is still cocked. When this happens, you cannot remove the lens, you cannot release the shutter and you cannot wind the camera. The only way to unlock it is with a screwdrive or this tool. With the screwdriver, you risk scratching the back element of the lens when turning the cocking screw for the lens (which has a LOT of spring pressure). This tool slides OVER the cocking screw, preventing it from slipping and damaging the Zeiss lens glass. Easy to use, easy to pack in the camera bag and a life saver when you're in the field and the camera locks up.
