A: This drive is not suitable for a laptop.

A: Yes, you can use this drive. You will want to make sure it is the same size TB as the other drives in the unit.

Q: 3. Is this drive compatible with the Drobo Robotics Raid enclosure?

A: Yes it is. I myself am using Ironwolf Pro drives.

Q: 4. Is it possible that these Ironwolf Pro drives will be added to the compatibility list for the Synology DS923+ at some future date? If so, any idea how long until they are confirmed? Or is it unlikely that these will be deemed compatible?

A: Synology does not test all drives from all manufacturers. You are welcome to reach out to them to request that they test the drive but we have found them to work perfectly fine with the Synology units.

A: The Seagate 18TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III Internal NAS HDD is currently not listed as a compatible drive on the Synology compatibility list.

A: "CMR" on this Seagate 18TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III Internal NAS HDD (CMR) would be Conventional Magnetic Recording.

Q: 7. can we mix seagate pros w seagate regular ironwolfs in a nas?

A: You can mix, but you would be limiting your self to the performance of the lowest spec drive and if in a Raid 0 or other striped raid array your level of safety would be reduced to the lowest drive.

Q: 8. What is the difference between the "Retail" and the "OEM" drives?

A: The OEM models ship in a plain brown box, as opposed to the retail package which has graphics/text, etc. There are no technical differences in the actual product.

Q: 9. will this HDD work with LaCie 2big Dock 2-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array?

A: The Seagate 20TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD is not listed as a compatible internal drive and may not function properly.

Q: 10. Can these be used as single drives? Planning on using an enclosure for 1 drive for field video editing. Are they tough for constant traveling?

[1.7 lb] Purchased two for new DS214+ Synology NAS unit - Work GREAT! Super easy install in synology NAS unit. You DO have to say, YES it's I know these are not the recommended Synology (Toshiba) Drives that Synology recommends..... But, nonetheless, they work without any issues I can determine. Installed as a Mirror RAID1 system. Ends up 7.3TB usable space... plenty fast, quiet, suits intended purpose. Would definitely recommend to others for Use in dual drive NAS unit! 5

[70 G / 2.0 ms] This is my 4th X300 HDD purchased and they all are going strong since 2017. I own 2 regular X300's and 2 X300 Pros. Both my pro's ( 8TB and 6TB) run about 30-50 MB/s faster than the regular X300 (2x 5TB) in crystaldisk and none of them seem loud to me. I havent purchased a new WD drive in recent years due to how satisified i have been with these but my older WD Black 2TB drive these iniitally started the upgrade path from run circles around the older WDBlack 2TB drive both in MB/s and noise. Until I have an early failure or any issues I'm more than satisfied with this X300 Pro line. 5

[70 G / 2.0 ms] Came in a box that looks like the picture shown on the website. No screws were included. No cable for connection to SATA connection was included. Drive occasionally makes a little bit of noise, which is pleasant to the ear if you're old enough or probably bewildering if you're not. Desktop computers are just not that noisy anymore. 5

[70 G / 2.0 ms] The Toshiba 8Tb was on sale, so I bought them instead of WD Red, that I was waiting for. Quite fast, just a bit noisier than the WD Red I have in the other NAS, so overall great drives. Hope will keep working for several years. 5

[14 TB] Brand new drives. They are fast and quiet. No problem running with UEFI, GPT, RAID in Windows 10 and Windows 11 so far. 5

[14 TB] I already had one of these drives that I purchased earlier this year for my NAS, when an older WD drive recently conked out I immediately purchased another one of these. Drive is quiet and works like a champ, no issues. 5

[14 TB] First time shopper with B&H. Hard Drive was well packaged with extra bubble wrap around the Toshiba box. I added the hard drive to my Synology system. It was recognized and began rebuilding. I purchased this for the 5 year warranty. 5
