A: I have two plates for the Sony X batteries and two plates for the Sony W batteries for the Watson Duo charger. This is a great charger. I am not sure what exactly you mean by label on the outside . Putting a genuine Sony X battery into the Watson X plate will result with the back of the battery showing. However, if you have a third party X battery, most likely the front of the battery label will be visible. You don't have to guess, though. Looking at the four battery contacts on the edge of your battery, the four contacts are offset to one edge, and you should insert the battery into the plate with the four offset contacts nearest the inside back of the plate's receptacle. Also you can just use your eyes and, with the battery in the plate, look at the two pins coming out of the plate. If you have the battery in backwards, one of the two plate pins will not be touching any of the battery's four contacts. I have never really timed the charging, but it seems that the Watson Duo will charge two dead Sony X batteries in a couple of hours.

This is only about the "heart" shaped ones like the one in this page. These plates, for any battery type have always been interchangeable. I've used them with Nikon, Panasonic and Fujifilm batteries of many models. Pearstone also has sold a square shaped compact charger (Mini Charger it's labeled) that is not compatible with the ones above (different shape). The square one is compatible with the similar charger sold by Wasaby Power and many other no-brand brands. All the square shaped plates with "ears" from many other brands seem to be interchangeable. I buy complete chargers when I need them but just the plates when I change cameras. nes from Wasabi. A: Yes, there is, and of course it works with both the OEM Sony batteries and 3rd-party ones. As you seem to know, the Watson chargers are great -- I use them to charge batteries for the HXR-NX100, the PXW-X70, as well as Canon batteries that power my external monitors from SmallHD and from Lilliput -- all by changing out the adapter plates, which cost $3 each.
