The DC Block 6 has been designed to improve the quality of AC electricity that feeds our audio and AV systems.

Mains electricity has a fundamental influence on the audio signal as it passes through a system, from source to amplifiers to speakers. The mains supply in a typical home is subject to interference induced by a range of issues, causing the AC waveform to distort before it reaches each component. This creates noise in the audio signal, which degrades sound quality – a situation that continues to worsen with more and more electrical devices being added to the home mains supply.

One common issue is ‘DC on the mains’ – a problem that is well known to affect the performance of audio equipment, especially amplifiers. In theory, the mains electricity we obtain from the sockets in our homes should be pure AC, with a perfectly symmetrical sine wave alternating between positive and negative phases.

The AC transformers commonly used in home audio equipment cannot tolerate the presence of significant levels of DC voltage without being compromised. Less than 500mV of DC – typical in an average household electricity supply – can be sufficient to cause toroidal transformers of the kind often found in amplifiers to become saturated, which adversely affects sonic performance and may cause audible mechanical vibration.

The audiolab DC BLOCK 6 is a six-way solution for this all-too-common problem.

• Suitable for all audio or AV systems

• Removes DC from AC mains supply, transformer hum, and RF interference

• Offers radical improvement in mains quality, transformer and power supply performance, and therefore sound quality

• Six independent outlets for source components; power amps, preamps, integrated amplifiers, CD players, DACs, etc.

• One single mains input connection

• Simplified OLED display on voltmeter with display on/off option

[10 A] This replaced my 18 year old Cambridge Audio pre-amp/amp setup. Spent time debating between pre-amp/amp vs integrated amp and then this vs Marantz PM8006. Finally settled with this due to features and price point.

I use this mainly to listen to Vinyl collection but now also have my old Cambridge Audio CD connected to Optical and love the DAC on this amp. Phono amp is outstanding and sound quality is just amazing. Bluetooth is also helpful for streaming from your smart phone. I have old pioneer Elite Tape deck connected and this has got live back into the old tapes.

Only negative is that this in not Made in UK or Europe but is made in China but build quality is solid.

[None] I tested the Rotel Tribute combo(amp&CD) vs Audiolab 6000 (amp&CD) combo. No doubt the Audiolab wins in terms of sound, I don't know all the fancy words to use in this comparison but in my simple language explanation its like this. The Audiolab sound is thicker fuller darker and most of all it has a 3D like feeling to the sound, by the Rotel it seams like the sound is flat on the wall in front of me, by the Audiolab the sound is away from the wall there is air between the instrument and the wall, so its more real experience. The bass is interesting because by the Rotel I can hear a bigger bass, but its nice in the beginning, later I felt its blocking some sound of the other instruments, in other words, its not as balanced the bass with the other sounds. By Audiolab the bass is not sticking out from the rest and I think its more tighter. so its either because the bass is not so boomy or because all the other sounds are punching out same strong as the bass. Anyway, its more pleasing to listen to because of that. from the other hand the Rotel has also a very special sound very detailed, another benefit it has tone controls(and a general sound booster), you can adjust the bass and the treble which makes it very convenient and takes away the problem mentioned above because u can boost the treble and or lower the bass. Still it doesn't give the 3D sound as the Audiolab. one more pro to the Audiolab CDT, you can make fast fwd the song by pressing long the go to next song button, you can NOT do it by the Rotel CD player, only with the Remote controller(very embarrassing). From the other hand a con to the Audiolab CDT, when you press the pause button, if you leave it more than a few minutes it goes back to beginning of the CD (I didn't find any setting to change that - very embarrassing).

[15.845 lb] I am in the process of adding my 15K CD collection to my music server, I wanted something to carry me through. This transport sounds n ds amazing. Way out performs my $1500 Marantz. Playing through a $8000 DAC and the Audiolab fits right in. Highly recommended.

[None] I'm assuming that anyone looking at this already knows the benefits of a transport and separate DAC vs a conventional CD player (or DVD player) For an entry level unit, this thing is exceptionally good. First of all, it looks fantastic. Really nice solid case w/ a clean layout. As for sound, it checks all the boxes, PRAT, detail, smoothness, big soundstage.Sounds analog. It did not sound all that great w/ the Toslink optical connection but different story with the coax. Nice hefty remote. An upgrade power cable opens up the soundstage a bit. (I use aftermarket power cables on everything) Not compared to the comparably priced Cambridge, who makes quality gear. (I have a modded DacMagic)

This is one of the few pieces of gear I've bought that truly upped my enjoyment of music.

[Yes ] With hundreds of CDs, i wanted to upgrade my CD playback source. This transport has been an excellent addition to my system. Visually it looks very modern, and the build is solid.
Playback sound quality is also determined by the outboard DAC used, but this transport has improved my listening enjoyment. Highs are very smooth, and the soundstage is excellent.
If you’re looking to leverage the enjoyment of your CD collection, this transport is a great value.

[15.845 lb] This box does one thing and does it well. It takes the digital info off your CD and sends it out a digital port. It does this with impeccable timing circuits so that there is no measurable jitter in the output data frequency. You will need an off-board DAC to convert the digital to analog signal. This can be a Stand alone DAC, or one that is built into your integrated amp or preamp. Highly recommended.

[None] I listened to CD music for decades on what I thought were good players, but buying this transport and plugging it into my DAC has changed my view completely.

CDs (before the advent of digital music files) were always a nice portable medium with good sound quality. It was nice to get rid of the handling and storage issues of LPs, but deep down, LPs still sounded better.

Now, with the Audiolab transport, I can enjoy listening to CD music as much as I have ever enjoyed listening to LPs.

All of the music is there! It was getting lost in the 0s and 1s, somewhere, but this transport has magically found them. I will never look back, and never think of CD music the same.

This is a quality piece of equipment available at a price comparable to much inferior equipment.

Buy it!
