[Compressed Air] The FJ400 definitely exceeded my expectations. Reliable color output and consistency of flash at an excellent price. The fact that is also comes with the plug-in to allow for using in studio while still charging versus competitors that charge for that option makes it an even bigger plus. Can't recommend this enough at this price point.

[Compressed Air] Best value in the market. Sturdy and solid as a rock. Great light quality and features. I'm still exploring all the different features and photo possibilities I can get with this strobe. Loving it so far and worth the wait.

[Compressed Air] I must say, this is one of the best purchases I’ve made for taking care of my cars. I have 3 cars that I wash on a regular basis and I honestly can’t believe how much time this dryer saves me! Drying time is about 10 to 15 minutes and very little touch up required. One really nice thing I’ve noticed is I don’t have to clean the windows with glass cleaner. They’re good to go with a quick wipe of a clean towel.

It’s mounted on the wall near the garage opening. The hose is long enough to get around any car comfortably without taking the revolution off the wall. I honestly didn’t have to give up much real estate in an already crowded garage. The hose holder worked perfectly and doubles as a holder for my car charging cord as well. If I had a complaint, it would be the hose could have been made of a better material. I have vacuum hoses that seem more scratch friendly than the hard plastic hose provided. Sometimes you notice you’re touching lower panels by accident.

I use hearing protection when using the revolution. It’s not the noise of the motors, it’s the noise from the air hitting tight areas. I find that the “whistling” when you get too close, maybe doing say window trims or mirrors is really loud. This also is doubling as a compressor in some ways. I find myself using it to blow out the garage instead of using compressed air. Actually does a better job too. Even used it on the driveway!

The heat is such a blessing! I’ve always struggled with dampness due to washing in the evening. Not anymore, once I hit an area with the dryer, it stays dry now. No dew! Can’t believe I’ve struggled all these years and could have fixed this so easily. Let me finish by saying, although pricy, worth every penny! Buy it here, best price as long as you’re not in a rush to get it. Took about 2 weeks but worth the wait.

Recycle time, color consistency, size/portability, can be plugged in in the studio, popular Bowens mount, price, etc.


The universal trigger is a HUGE plus.


I teach, so being able to pass the trigger to students with different camera brands is very helpful. And, for photographers who own more than one brand, you're good to go.


In addition, as a Canon shooter, my Canon speedlites integrate seamlessly. This allows for lots of possibilities.

[Compressed Air] After seeing these at WPPI in Vegas earlier this year I decided to buy a couple of them. Now we all know about the amazing $1000 battery powered strobes on the market, are these comparable to those? Unlikely from my experience but this light comes pretty close and for the small budget it is perfect for what I want.
I do a lot of action sports portraits which has always been tough with budget lights because of their lack of high speed sync. This worked great for players diving and kicking. Captured everything with no issues.
I did have to switch cameras because I didn’t update the firmware when I first got them and my Nikon Z7 wouldn’t fire them. After the very quick firmware update to both strobes, the trigger and also my camera everything was great.
The model light on this strobe is really good and the fact the model light is daylight balanced is a nice touch.
Recycle time was fantastic, I had the lights at about half power and they didn’t miss a shot.
All in all, super happy with my purchase and for the cost I am not going to fall to my knees in tears if one of them gets knocked over by someone with a soccer ball on a location shoot. Because it has happened!!

[Compressed Air] I was a long time Profoto user and made the switch to these last year. I’m really happy with the quality of light, recycle time, battery life and the versatile trigger. With tons of accessory options this is a great system.

[Compressed Air] I have use this the Westcott FJ400 system now for several weddings, on location portraits and events. Absolutely a GAME CHANGER! I have been in photography, full time, for over 25 years and in that time, I have used just about every strobe system made. All of them were good BUT fell short in some important ways.

The FJ400 strobe is light and small for a strobe of this power. Using Westcott's Rapid Box and trigger, I am up and running in minutes (i.e., making money in minutes)!

The FJ400 has NO SHORTCOMINGS that I can find. The color and exposure consistency is perfect. I literally turned this strobe and starting making money!

One last word on the company: Westcott. I have never ever had the kind of customer service anywhere. A person actually answers the phone AND answers any questions that I have had!

[Compressed Air] Since these are the first strobes I've owned I can't really compare to how others are. My pocket book really isn't at profoto level, and I was hesitant on getting one of the cheaper strobes; I didn't want to buy something that I then would feel I had to replace quickly.

Let's just say I am not disappointed!! I'm still learning to use them and test my limits with them; as well as finding how best to incorporate my style into how I light with them. I have so far used them twice on a paid shoots and found them way easier than setting up my speedlights.

I'm very pleased that I splurged on the location kit as the majority of my shoots are at clients' businesses. While the kit is a bit heavy (to be expected) I can still load and unload out of my jeep by myself, and once on the ground easily wheel inside. I did wish I purchased sandbags when I ordered these (I have since rectified that). I do think the stands aren't the best but will work for me, for awhile at least until I purchase c-stands or something a bit more sturdy feeling. Granted that could hinder the ease of travel so will be something to mull over.

[Compressed Air] This light is amazing! I shoot with Canon and their speedlights so I was intrigued to see how the fj400 could sync up with them and WOW, it could not have been more simple. I've now got a main light with the fj400 and a fill light with the Canon 600 flash and I am using the Canon trigger to power both lights. If you are a Canon user, this is the perfect flash.


Other things that I like are the easy to use menu system, the really fast recycle time, and the continuous burst mode. I've used the strobe on 2 personal projects and 1 paid job and still haven't had to charge the battery, so that seems to be as good as advertised. I may eventually buy the universal trigger for a backup, but as I said earlier I am a Canon only user so I don't need to switch between different camera brands.


I will be buying another one of these lights!
