This 6-stop, 72mm Hoya HD MKII IRND Filter 72mm 6-Stopfrom Hoya HD MKII IRND Filter 72mm 6-Stopfeatures HOYA's exclusive ACCU-ND technology, which achieves equal reduction of the light in visible and IR spectrums. This added IR filtration eliminates issues with color shift in any shooting conditions, when compared to conventional ND filters.

Neutral density filters are important for filmmakers and photographers because they allow precise control over the amount of light passing through the lens. For filmmakers, this means shutter speeds that match camera frame-rate while maintaining creative depth-of-field control. Using a longer shutter speed makes it possible to increase motion blur to convey a sense of movement, or to dial in a video camera framerate. Increased density also makes it possible to shoot using wider lens apertures, helping to isolate a subject from the background.

The HD MK II IRND Series neutral density filters feature an anti-reflection multi-coating that reduces reflections caused by scattered light rays, which is an important concern during long exposures. In addition, a waterproof and oil repellent top-coat is applied for easy cleaning and maintenance.

The filter is mounted into a low-profile, lightweight, precision-milled aluminum frame. This frame design takes extra care to prevent light leaks and bleeding around the filter that may occur during long exposures. The slim filter frame can be used on most wide-angle lenses without vignetting. It features front filter threads for attaching additional filters or a protective lens cap.

If a single ND filter does not satisfy the requirement of the situation, or the photographer's vision, a combination of filters can be useful. For example: the combination of the HD MKII IRND 64 plus the HD MKII IRND 1000 will provide 16 stops of light reduction, enough to allow a camera to capture an image of the surface of the sun without overexposure.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I need this lens with 62mm . It' 's available ?

A: B&H # OPTSC62FE is the Opteka 62mm 0.3X HD Ultra Fisheye Lens Adapter. https://bhpho.to/2Xh9dJP

Q: 2. If I were to mount this adapter on a Sony RX-10 III set at 24mm would it produce a circular image covering 180 degrees field of view?

A: This is a 0.3x Adapter. It will turn the 24mm equivalent in to a to 7mm equivalent, which is very wide. We feel it would be close to a 180 degree field of view.

Q: 3. I got this for my Panasonic DVX200, but for the life of me I CANNOT get the camera to focus while this lens is attached to the camera, what am I doing wrong?

A: Replying to Opteka Support: No, I took the plastic guard off and screwed the spacer on the lens so the threads would fit the camera. Screwed the camera on and could not get it to focus :/

Q: 4. Will this fit on a Panasonic X2000?

A: Yes, the Opteka 72mm 0.3X HD Ultra Fisheye Lens Adapter would work with the Panasonic X2000 Camcorder. However, a step ring BH #SESUR6272 is required to connect the adapter to the camcorder's 62mm filter threads. A better choice is listed below: Opteka 62mm 0.3X HD Ultra Fisheye Lens Adapter BH #OPTSC62FE https://bhpho.to/2Xh9dJP

Q: 5. How does this work with 16:9 aspect ratio? Do you have to zoom in to hide the black from the sides. Considering this for my Panasonic hc-x1.

A: This is compatible with HD cameras that have a 72mm front filter thread.

Q: 6. Would this work with a step down ring from 72mm to 67mm? This would be a on a Panasonic HC-X1.

A: It should be fine

Q: 7. Is it compatible with a vx2100

A: No. You would require the 58mm version of this adapter, as shown here https://bhpho.to/2IdFbBv

Q: 8. Will this work with DSR-PD150

A: Unfortunately no. The filters is on the Sony PD-150 is 58 mm. This lens adapter uses 72 mm.

Q: 9. Will this work on canon xha1

A: It should screw directly on, be aware that the back end of the fisheye sticks out a bit past the thread so you may need a few spacers or 72mm filter so you dont scratch the camera lens.

Q: 10. would this work on a Nikon Z6II?

A: The Opteka 72mm 0.3x HD Ultra Fisheye Lens Adapter is designed for video camcorders and would not work well with the Nikon Z6 II.

[0.205 lb] The Hoya is a nice addition to my new glass 50mm 1.8 Nikkor. No change in portrait photos and haven't done to many landscape photos to say if I notice any change. It's a strong filter that will protect your costly lens. I just leave mine on 24/7.
