The BA-117 Single Lever Ball Head from Oben is a simple ball head with one locking knob to control all motion. The knob allows you to unlock the ball so that you can quickly orient your camera properly, retighten the knob, and return to shooting. This enables fast setup changes, and frees you to keep a finger on the trigger while you're making a quick adjustment to the head's orientation. The head has a 90° notch which facilitates shooting in portrait orientation. One bull's eye and three tubular bubble levels ensure your camera is level on both the horizontal and vertical axes.

The included quick-release plate has a retractable video pin, and attaches to your camera via its standard 1/4"-20 screw. With your camera attached to the quick-release plate, it easily snaps and locks into place on the ball head, and a safety lock on the release lever prevents it from being accidentally released.

Q: 1. How does this BA-117 head compare with the BZ-217T head that came with my AT-3565 tripod? I really prefer single lever operation.

A: The BZ-217T that is included with your Oben AT-3565 tripod would offer much more control in terms of friction on the ball sphere and an Arca type quick release clamp on top over the BA-117.

Q: 2. Does this have a warranty? I have only used the head two times and it wobbles and busted now. Only a few months old.

A: The head is made of both. But it is mainly made of metal.

Q: 5. Will this ball head work with the Oben AC-1441 tripod without any issues?

A: I do not have any experience with the Oben tripod, but I do use it on 2 Gitzo tripods without any problems. I find that the ball head is stable as long as the weight does not exceed 5 lbs.

Q: 6. Is the QR planet an Arca-Swiss plate? Can you provide the size?

Q: 7. Does this allow for camera rotation? More specifically forward and backward (up & down)?

A: When a camera is mounted on the Oben BA-108 Single Lever Ball Head, the head will allow a camera to rotate for still photos. It would not work as well for video.

Q: 8. Is there any way to buy just the plate that goes in the ball head. It would be nice to have at least two so I don't have to keep switching the plate from my body to my tele-lens.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] I purchased the Oben BA-117 Single Lever Ball Head to act as an interface between my Canon EOS 77d w/ Canon 24mm f2.8 lens and my Manfrotto Mono Pod. (My walk-about kit) I have several Oben RP-20 quick release adapters for other cameras and tripod heads and the Oben BA-117 Single Lever Ball Head was the natural chose for my needs. As with all of my other Oben products, the Oben BA-117 Single Lever Ball Head's quality, build and performance is excellent. I hole-heartedly recommend this and any other Oben product. And as usual, B & H's service and prompt attention is as always equally excellent. 5

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] I purchased this ball head based on reviews on the B&H site and YouTube. It was part of my decision to purchase tripod legs and a ball head to see what I've been missing in my years of using a series of inexpensive all-in-one tripods. at this point, after two sessions of photography, I can already see what I've been missing - sturdiness and simplicity. The ball head makes adjustments in sighting and aiming a breeze. I've got a EOS 40D and in use with a 70-300 zoom it's been easy to use and locks down rock-solid. I should mention that I ordered an extra RP-20 plate for it and it's awesome to eliminate that step - love the way the camera or lens locks on and is released from the head. Maybe in time I'll find something that could have been designed differently, but so far I can only wonder why I waited so long, and say that I'm definitely impressed with the product and pleased with my purchasing decision. 5

[Yes] Already experienced with -126 model and this one also accepts the RP-20 camera bracket, so I have backup. Solid construction is a hallmark of Oben and this one secures my D850 with long lenses, etc. Nice fit on my Platypod. 5

[Ball Head] I bought this after watching a YouTube review of Oben quick release plates for Manfrotto. The Manfrotto plates aren't flat on the bottom and can have trouble mounting to some equipment. The Oben ones are flat on the bottom. So I'm switching everything to Oben! 5

[1.205 lb] First of all, I'm an amateur. I bought this ball head to use on a monopod. I didn't really need all the other adjustments, just one handed operation. This ball head is perfect for that. It definitely carries what weight I've put on it, and doesn't move when I don't want it to. I have no cons for this product. 5

[Ball Head] This ball head has been used twice atop my monopod. It worked beautifully. The single lever was very easy to set and unset. It was better than knobs used in the past. It is recommended. 5
