Q: 1. I want to convert the SDI 1080i signal from my switcher to a 1080p signal to my live streaming server for YouTube. Will this unit do that?

A: I do technical support for Symbiosis, Decimator's master distributor in the US. The Decimator 2 is definitely capable of doing what you are describing if your streaming server has HDMI input. If you bring the 1080i signal in on the SDI input you can configure the Decimator 2 to output 1080p over HDMI.

Q: 2. I have a video switcher with Program out via SDI, I am told there is embedded audio running out with the SDI video signal. Will this unit work for my application? I want my SDI PRGM output from my switcher to feed into a standard LCD TV monitor via HDMI with video and sound. I want to set up client monitors in the Greenroom down the hall .. All my SDI feed does for my consumer HDMI TV is video only...Thanks

A: Hi James, This is Jules from Symbiosis, Decimator's Master Distributor for your territory. The Decimator 2 will all you to pass both video and embedded audio from the SDI input to the HDMI output for monitoring on your LCD TV. Just in case you need it, there is also a pair of analog line level outputs for driving an amplifier or set of active speakers as well. I hope this helps. Jules

Q: 3. I just bought this Analog to SDI,for Sony nxcam hxr-nx3/1 to BM ATEM. Can anyone help how to setup up?

A: Not much to set up. As I recall there are some switches on it to set as. I connected it and flipped the switches until I stumbled onto the right combination.

Q: 4. What is on the reverse side of the background? Is it printed as well, or does it have no color at all?

A: The concrete Vintage Background on the Manfrotto EzyFrame Vintage Background Kit 6.5 x 7.5' is the same color in both sides.

Q: 5. Does leaving this unit on for extended periods of time hurt the LCD screen? I noticed there is no on/off switch to the unit.

A: This product does not have a screen.

Q: 6. Hello! Is this a working camera?

A: The Polaroid 600 Round Vintage Close Up Express Instant Camera (Navy) is a working camera that uses Polaroid Color 600 Instant Film (5-Pack, 40 Exposures), BH #PO6013.

Q: 7. I want to convert SDI signal from my NTSC camera to an SDI Signal in PAL (for both audio and video) Will this converter do that?

A: I'm afraid not. The Decimator 2s SDI loop output will repeat whatever signal is going into the SDI input, so while the HDMI signal would be converted to PAL the SDI loop-out would remain NTSC. To do a conversion and come out in a different format through SDI, you could use the MD-HX, MD-Cross or MD-DUCC. All of these will take NTSC SDI in and output PAL SDI with embedded audio.

Q: 8. Will this unit support the downconversion of an HDMI signal from a laptop to composite video? I want to use it to send an HDMI signal from a Mac laptop to a Presidential-type teleprompter system.

A: Sorry, while Decimators are great products, this one is not right for your application. Use this one, (as long as the signal is HD) Atlona HDMI/DVI to Composite and S-Video Down-Converter B&H # ATHD530 .

Q: 9. Would this be the correct adapter to add an intercom system to my Dante Network? I'm looking to integrate a Clear-Comm FSII Base

A: No, the Audinate Dante AVIO 2-Channel XLR Analog Output Adapter for Dante Audio Network would not be the correct adapter to use with your Clear-Comm FSII Base; it would work for output only. Instead, I would recommend using one B&H # AUADPDAOAU1 for output from the Dante system to the program input on your intercom base, and one B&H # AUADPDAIAU1 for the stage announce output of your intercom base into the Dante network.

Q: 10. Does the mini converter retain DIP switch 1 aspect ratio after power cycling? The manual instructions are to cycle switch 1 twice to apply center cut aspect ratio. I want to locate the converter remotely so I need to know if it will retain the center cut aspect ratio after power down / power up cycling.

A: According to the information provided in the manual it states that:Each time you cycle between Off and On you apply anamorphic, center cut or letterbox aspect ratios. Leaving switch 1 set to OFF bypasses the down converter and outputs in HD.When connected to the Blackmagic Converter Utility via USB, your down conversion settings are controlled by the software. If you want the converter to remember your software settings, disconnect from the computer, power cycle your converter and set your down conversion using mini switch 1.

[Yes] The Korg Minilogue is a SUPER fun & intuitive analog synth for everyone from beginners to seasoned synthesits. I've been programming synths for 20 years and this was just as fun as the first synth I ever used. Its analog sound is wonderful and thick. Almost everything has a knob or switch for control and, for the patches I was making, I never went into the menus for further editing beyond naming patches and setting sequencer settings. The shape control of the oscillators gives a lot of variation to your standard waveforms and the sync/ring-mod, cross modulation, & pitch envelope of oscillator two really open up the sonic possibilities. I very much enjoy the dedicated switch for velocity modulation of the filter cutoff and I like that there are only two modulation depths beyond none. My favorite feature of the Minilogue is the envelope modulation of either the rate or the intensity of the LFO. This really gives a sense of motion to what is already a sense of motion from the LFO. My only complaint is that the LFO doesn't go fast enough for analog-FM style tones. It's not nearly as fast as the LFO on the Monologue but that's more of an observation that a full drawback. I really enjoyed the different voice modes of this synth, really finding mono, which introduces a variable level sub, and chord, which creates various fixed chords, to be the most useful beyond the standard poly mode. This is by far the best poly synth I have ever found for someone who is interested in learning analog synthesis. The knobs and switches along with the actual layout of them makes programming make sense and a joy to use. The Minilogue does have mini-keys but the mini keys Korg has been using for their new synths are really great. Much better than the microKORG. With the Minilogue, Korg really show us that there will always be room for one more analog synth.

[Download] Been waiting for so long to get my hands on one of these! Ever since I opened the box I've been in love. For the price point you can't beat it. I've been using the Korg R3 for about 5 years and a Roland SH-32 for about a year, this is a perfect addition to my setup! If you're in the market for an analog synth.. BUY THIS ONE!

[Download] The Minilogue is a really fun to use synthesizer, with an immediate interface to tweak and a great sound, while also affordable. At first I wasn't so sure about its sound, but had a test drive and it really impressed me (all 3 times in consecutive days). Even as an affordable synth, it has its own thing and can sound amazing. Been using it mostly for pad and keyboard(ish) bell sounds, and it is great at it. Throw in an external delay pedal and you're good for days. Sound-wise, it doesn't have the aggressively low end you find on other synths, but it is very good at mid-range. I love the filter tonality, and while not the most versatile beast, it is certainly capable of doing some impressive things. The hardware is also very well made for what you pay... good metallic plate on top, mini-keys that are way better than traditional ones, all necessary tools for customizing simple and complex sounds (although limited in terms of modulations), nice knobs and switches, ideal size (love this small footprint). There's a single thing I don't enjoy much: the pitch bend lever. I'd rather have a single modulation one... this aside, an amazing little synth.

[8 GB] By now you've likely watched all the video demos and read all the articles so I am not going to write about the technical side of this synth. I will simply say it's well built (in China) and it's super well laid out and sounds like the Oberheim that it is. My only negative is that it is 5 voices instead of 6. Once you adapt your technique it's not such a big deal..the sound quality makes it worth it. You might ask why I didn't pursue the Berhinger.. I want to support Tom Oberheim

[Yes] The minilogue is a full fledged 4 voice polyphonic analog synth with 1 LFO. You can save patches (200) and the oscilloscope is helpful for patch building. When recalling patches, there are several options for the knobs too-- the default is to 'jump' to the value that the knob is turned to, but there is also a 'catch' option that won't change the parameter until you move the knob to where it was in the saved patch-- this is very helpful for live performance to ensure smooth parameter transitions! I have been using in both studio and live setting. Overall a surprisingly well made and feature-full analog synth... hard to believe korg packed everything in at such a low pricepoint for analog polys!

[Yes] My expectations were met. My delivery was on time. Great for any age. I highly recommend as a gift. The price was very good. I have played with it everyday. It makes me want to write music with it. I love plugging it up into headphones or speaker system. Built in speaker is not best quality. The bass is insane. I also love playing along with songs. Thank you for your service!

[Yes] I’ve owned Synthesizers since 1972. I currently own quite a few from several manufacturers, Behringer, Roland, ASM, Elektron, Modal, Teenage Engineering and Korg (Volca FM 2 and Sample 2) to name a few.

10 years in the marketplace this Volca Keys has really held up to the test of time.

Marketed as an “Analogue” Synthesizer in reality the control signals are generated digitally with the CPU using a 10-bit DAC giving it near-analogue resolution. So this is a Subtractive Hybrid unit; an analogue sound engine with digital control so dial tweaks and note info can be recorded into the sequencer/accessed over MIDI. By the way, this is a good thing not a negative at all.

It’s a pretty easy to use, straightforward, with no menu screen, pretty much a dial per function arrangement. Great for beginners but powerful enough for experienced users.

I did notice notice that some dials are translucent and some solid. As a rule I found the solid dials' movements can't be sequenced, but the translucent dials can be sequenced and are backlit red plus flash to denote which parameters are active or recorded in a 'motion sequence' (motion sequencing captures dial movements into the sequencer).  The tempo dials flash in time with the internal/MIDI-clocked tempo and each key/sequence step has its own LED too, convenient for letting you know what's happening at a glance within complex sequences
.
It has 3 sawtooth wave oscillators & produces great upfront three-note chords, dirty lead/bass lines, ring modulated sounds and detuned unisons. It also features octave/fifth mono modes, a versatile tempo-syncable analogue-style delay that does reverbs/bit-crushing (from the Monotron Delay) freeform unquantised flux recording and 1/1, 1⁄2 and 1⁄4 tempo modes.

It uses the great MiniKORG700s filter. The LFO has 3 waveforms: sawtooth, square & triangle which make for some great modulation variety.
The Volca Keys really packs a lot in, it's very versatile and a true value at such a low cost.
