Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How many lumens does the FJ200 produce?

A: The Westcott FJ200 Strobe is a strobe. It is not an led light. Strobes are rated in watts. And it has a maximum power of 200 watts.

Q: 2. Can the power be remotely controlled via the Canon RT system?

A: Unfortunately, remote control of the FJ200 is limited to the Westcott FJ-X2m Universal Flash Trigger only.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with Leica SL2?

A: Yes, you may use the Westcott FJ-X2m Universal Flash Trigger for FJ400 Strobe, B&H # WEFJX2MUWLFT, included in the above Westcott FJ200 Strobe 3-Light Backpack Kit with FJ-X2m Wireless Trigger for your usage needs. When the FJ-X2m trigger is placed on the hot shoe of the Leica SL2 Mirrorless Camera, it may wirelessly trigger the FJ200 strobes in this flash kit. Do note you will have to set your flash output manually as you will not have TTL automatic flash exposure capability with the Westcott strobes (as of the date/time of this reply).

Q: 4. I have a FJ80 and a FJ X2M. I'm thinking about adding more strobes for a wedding reception. I can add 1 or 2 more FJ80s and trigger them by either the FJX2M or the FJ80. If I use 2 FJ 200s for wedding reception dance scenes,is this a bit overkill ? I want a fast recycling flash so that I won't have to worry about overheating.

A: You can add more units to the system. The quantity you use will be dependent on style and location.

Q: 5. What's the life of the "unreplaceable" Flashtube on the FJ200? (asking 10/6/21)

A: The flashtube can be replaced by Westcott directly. They state that the life expectancy is about 10,000 flashes.

Q: 6. Does it come with bowens mount?

A: No, this would not include a Bowens mount. Please see attached link for the Bowens mount https://bhpho.to/3vhx1eF or search on our website for part number # GOS2

Q: 7. Does this kit come with a mount for the Octa-S?

A: Yes, the Westcott FJ200 Strobe 1-Light Backpack Kit with FJ-X3m Universal Wireless Trigger comes with Rapid Box Switch Octa-S.

Q: 8. Can this be used with AC Current?

A: Yes the FJ200 flashes can be used with AC but you need for each flash the AC power adapter, Westcott FJ200 AC Power Adapter BH #WE4749 • MFR #4749 The link is https://bhpho.to/3EfB4Pu .

Q: 9. Why does the link to B&H for a Bowens Mount result in showing a Godox S2 Speedlite Bracket for Bowens? Does that mean that the S-2 type Bowens mount would work with this strobe? And the 'Part # link' shows no such item. Is there a Bowens mount for this strobe. Asking 10/3/21.

A: Yes, the Godox s2 bracket allows you to mount the system to the FJ200 and adapt to the Bowens mount echo-system. Godox S2 Speedlite Bracket for Bowens https://bhpho.to/3AdZ0xb

Q: 10. what softbox can I use this light? I have 2 FJ200s and the bowens bracket also.

A: If you already own the Westcott Quick Mount S-Bracket, B&H # WE2543, for use with the Westcott FJ200 Strobe, you may use any softbox that uses the Bowens S-mount speed ring. The following link are softboxes that would be compatible for use with the above bracket. https://bhpho.to/3CTACF3 As the Westcott FJ200 Strobe also has an umbrella receptacle, the umbrella-mount softboxes on the following link would also be compatible for your usage needs. https://bhpho.to/46rwppF

[Dome] These 400w strobes are THE BEST! I was deciding whether I wanted to go for a Godox 600pro or the Westcott 400w because of the extra stop of light, but I've yet to go full flash power on these bad boys in my shoots and it's already giving enough power to light my beautiful models! I recommend this product!

[Silicone] After seeing these at WPPI in Vegas earlier this year I decided to buy a couple of them. Now we all know about the amazing $1000 battery powered strobes on the market, are these comparable to those? Unlikely from my experience but this light comes pretty close and for the small budget it is perfect for what I want.
I do a lot of action sports portraits which has always been tough with budget lights because of their lack of high speed sync. This worked great for players diving and kicking. Captured everything with no issues.
I did have to switch cameras because I didn’t update the firmware when I first got them and my Nikon Z7 wouldn’t fire them. After the very quick firmware update to both strobes, the trigger and also my camera everything was great.
The model light on this strobe is really good and the fact the model light is daylight balanced is a nice touch.
Recycle time was fantastic, I had the lights at about half power and they didn’t miss a shot.
All in all, super happy with my purchase and for the cost I am not going to fall to my knees in tears if one of them gets knocked over by someone with a soccer ball on a location shoot. Because it has happened!!

[Dome] Finally a monolight that you could take just about anywhere there is no AC power and a glaring high noon sun on top of you. Battery wise, I did about 120 plus shots and still had all 4 bars left (same with trigger). It didn't come with a manual but it took me only a few minutes to get it up and running.

[Silicone] This light is amazing! I shoot with Canon and their speedlights so I was intrigued to see how the fj400 could sync up with them and WOW, it could not have been more simple. I've now got a main light with the fj400 and a fill light with the Canon 600 flash and I am using the Canon trigger to power both lights. If you are a Canon user, this is the perfect flash.

Other things that I like are the easy to use menu system, the really fast recycle time, and the continuous burst mode. I've used the strobe on 2 personal projects and 1 paid job and still haven't had to charge the battery, so that seems to be as good as advertised. I may eventually buy the universal trigger for a backup, but as I said earlier I am a Canon only user so I don't need to switch between different camera brands.

I will be buying another one of these lights!

[Silicone] Since these are the first strobes I've owned I can't really compare to how others are. My pocket book really isn't at profoto level, and I was hesitant on getting one of the cheaper strobes; I didn't want to buy something that I then would feel I had to replace quickly.

Let's just say I am not disappointed!! I'm still learning to use them and test my limits with them; as well as finding how best to incorporate my style into how I light with them. I have so far used them twice on a paid shoots and found them way easier than setting up my speedlights.

I'm very pleased that I splurged on the location kit as the majority of my shoots are at clients' businesses. While the kit is a bit heavy (to be expected) I can still load and unload out of my jeep by myself, and once on the ground easily wheel inside. I did wish I purchased sandbags when I ordered these (I have since rectified that). I do think the stands aren't the best but will work for me, for awhile at least until I purchase c-stands or something a bit more sturdy feeling. Granted that could hinder the ease of travel so will be something to mull over.

[Silicone] There is so much to love about this strobe.

Recycle time, color consistency, size/portability, can be plugged in in the studio, popular Bowens mount, price, etc.

The universal trigger is a HUGE plus.

I teach, so being able to pass the trigger to students with different camera brands is very helpful. And, for photographers who own more than one brand, you're good to go.

In addition, as a Canon shooter, my Canon speedlites integrate seamlessly. This allows for lots of possibilities.

Cannot recommend enough.

[Silicone] The FJ400 definitely exceeded my expectations. Reliable color output and consistency of flash at an excellent price. The fact that is also comes with the plug-in to allow for using in studio while still charging versus competitors that charge for that option makes it an even bigger plus. Can't recommend this enough at this price point.

[Silicone] This was a great deal for the price. The strobe provided great light for indoor sessions. I’d definitely recommend

[1.01 lb] Used the strobes for the first time yesterday for headshots of an AHL hockey club; purchased them two weeks ago. Very pleased with the ease of use. Controls and menus were very straight forward. Synchronization of strobes to the trigger was easy. Quality of the light was excellent and even when used with two umbrellas with socks. Post-production processing was limited to cropping. The backpack was convenient, saving a trip in moving equipment. Used the trickle-charging capability of the strobes because the number of images to be taken exceeded the expected charge of the batteries. Recommend purchasing an extra battery for the trigger when doing long shoots. Wish I purchased these sooner.
