From Sonifex AVN-AO16 Dante Interface PoE 16-Outputconverts up to 16 analog outputs from the Dante Audio-over-IP networking standard. This 1 RU rackmount unit offers an easy solution for AV professionals and system integrators. All setup except line-up levels is done via the standard Dante Controller software, and power is provided via PoE. All analog outputs are Neutrik XLR connectors, and there are front-panel status/confidence LEDs for PoE, Link, and Clock.

Q: 1. Can this be used with a software mixer? Or does it need hardware (eg Allen & Heath Qu-16C Rackmountable Digital Mixer)?

A: The Allen & Heath AB168 Portable AudioRack 16 x 8 Audio Interface Stage Box for GLD and Qu Digital Mixing Systems cannot be used solely with software. The AB168 Portable Audiorack connects to an Allen & Heath mixer over a single Cat5 cable using the company's dSNAKE protocol.

Q: 2. Is a Dante Card required or is it built in?

A: The Yamaha Tio1608-D2 comes equipped with a Dante card, and you do not need to purchase one separately.

Q: 3. Will it work with the Yamaha LS9

A: Unfortunately not, compatible with TF-series mixers only. LS9 mixer requires the DANTE-MY16-AUD2 card, we are not authorized to sell that card, you need to contact Yamaha directly for more assistance.

Q: 4. I have a rodecaster, and I want to be able to feed Zoom audio during my livestream out USB, into this box, out through the TRS, and into a mic input on the Rodecaster. Will that work?

A: Yes you can do that. I am not sure exactly what you are trying to do, but if you are trying to allow communication between the mics connected to the Rodecaster Pro and Zoom; a much simpler solution would be to connect the Rodecaster Pro to the computer that you are using Zoom on via USB and then go to Preferences--- Sound and select the Rodecaster Pro as your audio input/output device for the computer. From there, anyone using mics connected to the Rodecaster Pro should be able to communicate with the caller(s) that you have on Zoom.

Q: 5. For the USB output, will the entire stereo mix of all inputs be sent over USB?The description says it provides two channels out - I presume these are the two L/R channels of the full mix?

A: On the MG16XU the signal from the STEREO L/R bus is output is output to the computer via the USB connection. This is sourced pre fader and not affected by the STEREO master fader.

Q: 6. I would like to use Dante Via to route the digital channels from our Yamaha TF1 to and from various software packages (Wirecast, Zoom, Skype, iTunes, etc.) on our Mac Pro. Will this card allow me to do this? I am assuming it would communicate over an ethernet (Cat 5e) from the NY64-D mixer expansion card in the TF1 mixer to our Mac Pro, Correct?

A: The Yamaha NY64-D will add Dante connectivity to the TF1 mixer, enabling it to transmits and receive up to 128 Channels of audio within the Dante Network and communicate with Dante Via. The connection is done with Cat 5e cabling as you've stated.

Q: 7. Does the R Remote PC app work if the TIO is enrolled in a Dante Domain (DDM or Director)?

A: Yes. In order to use R Remote with the Yamaha Tio1608-D2 Dante-Equipped I/O Rack, Dante Controller must be installed first.

Q: 8. When rack mounted, how many U does this require?

A: The Allen & Heath DX168 Portable DX Expander for dLive Mixing Systems requires 4U when rack mounted. The Allen & Heath AB168-RK10 Rackmount Kit for AB168 AudioRack (B&H # ALAHAB168RK1) is the rackmount kit.

Q: 9. Would you recommend a power conditioner for the AB168 or can I just plug it in the wall on stage?

A: The Allen & Heath AB168 Portable AudioRack 16 x 8 Audio Interface Stage Box can be connected to a wall outlet or you can use a power conditioner like the Furman M-8x2 Merit Series 8 Outlet Power Conditioner & Surge Protector (B&H # FUM8X2).

Q: 10. Is this compatible with 01V96 mixers?

A: Unfortunately it will not work with the 01V96 mixer. That expansion is only made for the TF series.

[23 x 9.3 x 2.8"] This is a very high end Dante interface sample rates up to 192khz The latency of this unit is extremely good I run all Ubiquity network to 5 rooms And the latency is only 187 microseconds not milliseconds I’m using 12 Channels out If you register the warranty online it turns it from 1 year to 2 years I highly recommend this interface 5

[Windows 10 ] The AVIO works just like you would imagine. Plug into the network, assign what you want in Dante Controller, and presto. Really terrific tool to have whether you need to add a last minute speaker or just working on a quick project and only need two outputs. 10/10 would recommend to everyone. 5

[D/A Converter] I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to configure this with my New M1 MacBook Air. Audiante said they would have support towards the end of 2021, not sure why the long delay as complicated apps like Adobe already have started their transition. This adaptor is great for transmitting audio with zero perceptible latency over the network. You'll need a POE+ switch or power source, and your laptop must also be connected via ethernet since Dante doesn't work over WiFi. 5

[Dante] This thing works perfect. Hook it up to your network with POE, and it shows up in Dante Controller just like its supposed to, then works without another thought! Indicator lights by the RJ-45 are handy to be sure everything is working. Were using this with a POE injector, and there are no problems. Welcome to the future! 5

[D/A Converter] As I am upgrading my production machines to apple silicon, I was in need of a new high channel count Dante interface for my virtual soundcheck machine. This installed and configured with zero issues, recording 128 channels at 96k, also using prodcom for speech to text for talkback mics on an M1 Mac mini. Flawless. Highly recommend. The fact that Dante Controller is also able to utilize this as a NIC is a huge plus over the now obsolete Dante accelerator card. 5

[1x RJ45 Dante] I had to set up music for an office X-mas party that spanned 3 floors and wanted to use the same audio signal simultaneously. I had not used Dante before. I set the transmitter and receivers up at home before the gig, using the free controller software. Everything connected and worked perfectly at home, then the next day at the job. Great solution! 5

[16x D/A] We installed this piece on our Dante network to add an audio connection to an auxiliary building about 300 to 350 ft away from the main building (head end). It worked perfectly and has had zero problems since it's installation. We would have purchased the two channel model, had it been available at the time of purchase. 5

[3.175 lb] We recently used this in our large church building to send audio from our Dante-enabled mixer in our main auditorium to the nursery. They are about 300' apart, so pulling audio cable would have been difficult and time-consuming, but since we had network throughout the building already, this device made it simple. Plus, since it's digital audio, there's no chance for extraneous noise to be added over long cable runs. We also utilize video-over-ip, so our switches are already set up for POE and multicast with IGMP snooping, and this device works flawlessly with that configuration. Dante controller makes it easy to route audio and multicast streams, so we're able to distribute to multiple overflow locations easily and without hogging a lot of bandwidth. We plan to use these devices often in our upcoming building expansion, and it will save lots of time and money not having to pull audio cable and buy distribution amps. 5
